I had the bs4 Jawa jawa back in 2020. It was peppy and i loved the way it felt. But the quality issues were too many , as much as the chassis showing signs of rusting. Everytime i used to visit the service center, i used to hear horror tales of customers about their ordeals. Most famous was the lambda sensor conking off in the middle of nowhere. The retro motorcycle was supposed to give me peace but on the contrary all i got was anxiety. So finally the Jawa Jawa was traded in for a Continental GT650 and we lived happily ever after. ❤ And btw loved the accordion playing in the bg and the font is a masterpiece that goes well with the theme. As I'm looking for purchasing my first bike, I've recently discovered this channel. It is totally different from other review channels. "classy" is the word I'm looking for.
In terms of sheer production value, this is one of the very best videos from MotorInc. And one of the best in motorcycle related videos in general. Awesome job guys. Love the content.
Cannot thank you enough for the eloquent and honest and detailed and seemingly unbiased review of the product. Your UA-cam channel provides that what is missing to the entirely clueless and often confused customer at the other side of the screen.
Jawa bikes are top notch for their refined looks, the chrome finish, the steel engine shining parts artistically done value for money . . I did a test ride recently to buy for my son. I liked it so much and the sound of it is awesome but my son likes Triumph Scrambler for it has better torque and zippy.. Still I like Jawa bike..
The chaotic background music when Shumi explains the odometer is pure editing brillianc! But yes, I agree with the rest. The font had to be different, while I do understand that the review was thematically retro.
Ironically, I think Classic Legends finds itself in the same place as Royal Enfield was a couple of years ago - selling substandard motorcycles and banking a lot on the brand's heritage. For the sake of the Indian consumer having the best options in the market, I hope Classic Legends pulls a Siddharth Lal and turns it's fortunes around. Who knows? This could be the start of Classic Legend's Redemption Arc!
As a ex-Mojo owner I can say with confidence that getting bike serviced is always a week's work because they have one good mechanic across Mahindra , jawa and Yezdi.. so I ended up visiting the service station regularly to get the bike fixed... that is not a good experience irrespective of how the product is... (all this in Bengaluru.. multiple service centers).. I'm not giving my monet again to them!
@@motorinc nopes... replacements are okay... repair / adjustment had to be followed up at least 2 twice after the visit! (This was until 2023 when I sold the bike... not sure if anything has changed)
back when they launched it in 2018 , the "java enthusiasts doing rallies" PR caught everyone's attention. Bike was beautiful even then and they had a fairly good start in sales but it wasn't a well engineered product. Now they already used up the marketing currency and sales will only go up if they make a very well rounded bike.
Agreed! This is their litmus test for sure. Jawa has a unique problem of having to bring new customers and convincing their existing customers to trust them again!😅
It is an Awesome motorcycle minus fuel guage... Riding mystique copper colour since last 6 months getting a mileage of approx 24-25 kmpl. No rusting issues, no quality issues nd no heating issues till date. Service center experience is just decent. Overall i m loving d character of this motorcycle a lot, much better that it's rival... Just one point that sometimes bother me is d pricing as i find it a bit overpriced...rest its a masterpiece... A beauty to b admired nd a machine u would love to operate...
I love the look of the Jawa bikes. Always very similar (function leads to form) but always with a slight and interesting twist of their own. Also that crack about the teenager rear suspension had me laughing. Shumi is a legend! o7
One of my friends bought the Jawa, it's radiator lid fell off while he rode from the dealership to his house but that can be considered as a bad PDI job and not a bad bike BUT, his bike started rusting right at multiple welding joints within a month and the build quality justbfelt shoddy and not as per the price demanded for it. Overall my friend was unhappy and sold it off after 8 months at a massive loss due to the low resale value.
@@motorinc They replaced the lid, but had no answer for the rusting parts other than a quick spray of WD-40. Also, their display bikes at the dealership also had rust + Perak displayed there had a bent swingarm (used to be a test ride bike which took a fall or two). Dealership location: Saket District Center, New Delhi.
I’m one of those rare individuals who bought the Jawa Classic in 2019, pretty much from the first batch off the line. Interceptor had a waiting period too long for my impatience, and tbh had loved the test ride. Niggles are there, engineering is shoddy (wire trees are 🤮), but the engine has been a joy! My commutes are short, and the bulk of the 25k kms done are on highways - 18 states till date, with the longest being Pune to Kolkata and back, solo. I’ve always been able to trust my bike to not leave me stranded in the middle of nowhere. There are good things but nearly all of those ‘good’ things are rather ‘if only there weren’t this other issue which doesn’t let this good thing be great’. For example, this bike has great handling, if only the ground clearance was better that I wouldn’t scrape my centre stand. Do I love my bike? Absolutely. Is it because Classic Legends engineered the shit out of it? Hell no. I’ve just grown used to the niggles and can love the scent behind the smell! Some would call that Stockholm syndrome 😷 Would I trust this brand again? Not really.
Same is the case with me. Bought one in 2020 and definitely there were some issues. The battery died again and again, and there was an issue where ABS malfunctioned. And then the evergreen rust issues. But those issues were sorted with time and CL replaces the rusted parts - namely the silencers and the shockers. But, there are good bits as well to this bike that I love. As rightly mentioned by you, the handling as well as the highway rides.
As per design i do purchase As per beating i dont purchase,,, But these days As per Norms & Conditions Beating we cant expect the same as the old ones,,,, But if we go with Design thats an Good Choice to purchase,,,,,
In 1963 I bought a new Jawa 250, then in 1984 I bought 1970 Jawa 350, which I completely rebuilt and kept for 15 years. Both were Czech-built and completely reliable. If CL can get their act together on quality and export to Australia, I'd certainly consider buying one. I twice emailed CL in 2020 with a view to a private import, but didn't get any reply; seems to be symptomatic of CL's approach.
Hi @chrisweeks6973, if you've known the OG Jawas that well, we're not sure if these will live up to your standards. That being said, we're more optimistic than ever, thanks to the 350, that CL wants to improve the status quo, so give them time!
Recently took a test drive of Jawa 42 FJ. I think It is definitely the best Jawa out there. Eager to see what you guys have to say in your ride review of the 42FJ🤞
I think the Achilles heel for Jawa is the suspension setup and not the instrument cluster. Don't agree with Shumi there because it is not a deal-breaker in any way. It doesn't take months of effort or intelligence to understand that. It would take you maximum 5 days or 1 week to get accustomed to it. It is unconventional for sure but surely you can get your fuel reading.
The point, @tariqomar0 is that the issues of the speedo are known. And have been known from the start. When they did so much work on the Jawa 350, they should have fixed it, not allowed customers to _get used to it._ You can get used to anything - but that's a very low standard of expectations, no?
Love subtle jabs at Jawa xD and amazing video. But i think shumi is being too critical about Jawa. I was skeptic too while I longed to buy Jawa 42 2.1 because of reviews like this. Finally after a year I bought the bike and its been a couple of months and I really love the bike. The company has been serious about the brand, i received 2 calls directly from the company representatives for the delivery and overall feedback. the service has been very professional at least in the area I live in Bangalore. Overall I am positive about the future of Jawa ,* Fingers crossed
Thanks for sharing @neilsesl! Glad to hear from an owner. Shumi's approach to Jawa comes from an overwhelming negative sentiment that people have from their experience with them. So, we're glad to hear that they're on the right path.
Hey Shumi 👋 great content! 👌 I would suggest you to cross check the background you choose before rolling the camera. Because your Shirt colour, your face Skin tone, Jawa's reflective Chrome tank & the Background in the video all match to a great extent and it's tough on our eyes to focus on you!
Being a Jawa bike onwer from last 2 years.. I can say that I AM 💯 Percent agreed, whatever Shumi sir in the end that YOU SHOULD NOT BUY CLASSIC LEGENDS BIKE.. Here are some points as an existing customer i can say. 1. The company is not planning to extend dealership or increase servicing center.. Instead of that they are closing small dealers.. And fun fact the servicing center are getting crowded.. Even though they have increased the availability of the spare parts and all. 2. Servicing cost and spare cost is costly. The both brake pads cost around 800 rupees, air filter is also around 400 rupees, fuel filter (it is attached with fuel filter) it cost around 390... Just and fyi they are using the basic spare parts from Bajaj.. If we buy them from outside it will cost around 50 percent less cost than. 3. Labor cost are high too. Around 30 to 40 percent high... And new bikes here is something interesting move added by classic legends The company is nowadays is adding 2100 as pdi charges and 3900 for transportation and delivery charges ( they literally bring their bike in simple truck no premier packing and all) .. Which cost around 6000 extra.. This all cost should have been included in the ex showroom.. Recently they launched yezdi adventure at ex showroom price of 2.12lk but again they are forcing the customer to buy their crash guard.. Because it is an mandatory accessories.....they are adding some mandatory accessories in many bikes and taking extra money from customer which is really stupid
Please please please please make such a video for yezdi roadster. It is a very anticipated and underrated bike for the specifications it offers at its price .
I think the results of the Jawa Yezdi experiment is exactly the reason why CL chose to launch the BSA Gold star in UK first before launching it in india, even though it's produced here. Quite smartly, they will have already gone through a couple of production cycles, before it's introduced here, with niggles being sorted out by the UK audience instead of the Indian one. So when they do launch the BSA, we can expect the quality levels to be much much higher right from the get go, and customers won't regret buying Gold Stars right away, which should help establish some much missing brand value. Of course, after-sales service quality will continue to be the question mark, but this is a step in the right direction.
Every person that i have met who owns a bike of Jawa, has told me that spare parts are not easily available, even in service centres sometimes . Local Mechanic are hesitant to do any service on Jawa Bikes.
shumi I agree with whatever you say, but jawa's are the most beautiful bikes, jawa 42 the 350 bobber , we don't wanna go into the technical segment as u do, but these bikes are beautiful the sound is divine ..........
I have always wondered why you never made any videos on honda's cb series of bikes in India, I mean i like to think they are a good product line and people have been quite open minded and they are well received in the indian market. It would be a great help if you can make a video or even a short video on Honda's cb line of bikes, coz people tend to compare them with javas and Enfields. Much appreciated. Keep up the great work. Love all your videos. Cheers.
@@motorinc That's sad coz your channel is among the very few i trust and watch keenly for almost everything you teach us about automobile and each n every thing related to it, be it riding, gears and what not, i really hope that either honda provides you all with a review unit or you can somehow arrange one to review coz i am sure there are a ton of users including me who are looking forward for your thoughts on Honda's CB line up of bikes.
Hey @kabbiraam2513! That's very generous of you! We can't accept though. First, riding someone's personal bike for a test is a scary responsibility. Second, for a test to be comparable the bike must be as new as possible and from the manufacturer so that they can _guarantee_ it's in the shape that a customer would get it in
This bike is like MV Agusta but classic. It's gorgeous to look at but difficult to maintain. My previous experience with jawa hasnt been so good but hopefully these new 350s are better built. Cant get over how good it looks btw.
Every word / sentence - well weighted and spot-on. But I don't think they had a choice other than to ship early and keep iterating fast. And neither do they have a choice now - because we are seeing that the longer they hold back newer products, the final outcome is still a bit short of what justifies that delay. Jawa/Yezdi/BSA/CLPL - should continue to keep launching and keep improving. Its a phase now where not doing either is going to irreversibly lose them mindshare in the market.
That may be @SandeepKRam but there are a lot of people who trusted Jawa with their money have been forced to never trust them again. This shipping early and iterate fast strategy may be great for software (debatable if we're being honest!) but for hardware, they either need to price it accordingly or ensure the quality meets the asking price. We're all for them improving and are cautiously hopeful for sure but Classic Legends has a steep climb for sure.
@@motorinc i am one of those hardy jawa Yezdi loyalists who is in that list of people feeling let down Not denying they have slipped and relied more on heritage value and cashing in on marketing and poor on engineering. They should have done a far better job. And now they have not much time to keep pace and show quality.
Besides shipping fast and iterating fast is never agreeable of you are starting at a very low quality to begin with in any industry :) that's their initial mistake and I agree with you on low quality engineering initially. They are catching up but it's very steep...BSA shows good signs as per UK reviews....hope they carry that to india.
Thanks for the roundup 👍. Classic Legends need to cease the current MO and not insist on early (and mid term) adopters being the "beta testers" of a product. Rushing to market in order to recoup R&D costs is NOT the way to a successful sales strategy. Hopefully they've realised this early enough to enable the Jawa 350 to actually start to complete with other bikers from alternative manufacturers. On that note, get those rear shocks sorted and maybe even offer a free "upgrade" to existing owners when they do. Things like this will inevitably help rebuild confidence in the product and potentially put right that essential factor.
I bought a jawa 42 in 2020 Issues I faced - Rust in Rear suspension - Tightness of handle bar due to poor wiring, which leads to scrapping of paint from the front dome - ABS issue - Starter Coil got burned + Had to change the wiring worth 12K-Under warranty - Roll Over sensor issue (bike was called back) - Afrer service they forget to put your nuts back to bike - Fixing of rear brake is a nightmare in Cochin service center - Timing chain was changed twice (With in a Year) - Tenaioner was changed 3 times (with in a year) -Engine Head Gasket was changed with in 4 months after I bought - And the worst - once u give the bike, service ppl will say, u will get the bike after 1 week I just lost my mind due to poor treatment of service ppl, and when i raised a mail that time i understood the central service coordination is the meaning of worst
@@motorinc I still have it, but bought a pulsar for my daily commutation, jawa is still in the my garage, like an old 1950's unused machine. I Haven't taken the bike to service centre for a year.. coz the service team makes more issues, rather than solving.
Most of the motor cycle enthusiasts, who has a soft coner towards modern classic bikes, would love to ride a machine which looks classy, bulky with good fit and finish and also the heart of the machine definitely be a long stroke single with a thumpy exhaust. Jawa has become better in most of the areas, but still lacks a long stroke engine, which i dont think would come in the near future...
This is the point of Jawa brand. They have always been youthful in their approach as compared to RE. It is like 2 diff riding philosophies. So, if they make the engine long stroke, I think they will loose their identity and USP.
@@motorinc yes boss, what you mentioned is absolutely correct. What I ment is the common likes of a modern classic bike lover. The real DNA of JAWA was very charismatic with that 2 stroke engine, gear/kicker combo and that unique exhaust note, which they can't reproduce with a 4 stroke. I had the chance to ride it during my teen ages as my first bike was yezdi roadking, for learning before getting my liscence😄
Let’s hope Classic Legends don’t the mess up the BSA now . Maybe it’s a good thing they started in the UK first ( hence forced to make it better ) ! We shall see I guess .
Mahindra should Relaunch Mojo 300 and should focus on service centers (2 stroke Jawa and yezdi is known for its beat, noise and smoke not only for looks,Evolution of RE is different, my opinion Jawa and Yezdi is not so successful )
Nice presentation, but there is a noticeable difference between front and rare mudguard's design. Front mudguard looks classy where rare one smash the look.
This is like roasting with diplomacy 😂 id love to have Jawa for its looks but not for its hardware thankfully my wife , parents and kids liked interceptor 650 , 5 years back and I'm thankful for what we finally decided...

Thank you @YashAtishay.
A friend bought this, and another friend said that this bike feels exactly like driving a passion. I can't get that out of my head now.
Nice way of putting it @aalenissac1225!
A genuine unbiased and uninfluenced review. too good!!!
Thank so you so much Franco!

Beautiful, beautiful machine !!!
Checke engineering (and design) is underrated. They made an overhead camshaft machine back in the 1930’s !
The chaotic background music when Shumi explains the odometer is pure editing brillianc! But yes, I agree with the rest. The font had to be different, while I do understand that the review was thematically retro.
Thanks for the feedback @adityashivaappalla1384.
We certainly hope so @rohandanielisaac8107.
My Jawa 300 still packs a better punch than RE 350s.
Almost 30ps of power over 20ps REs.
Thanks for letting us know!
RE 350 is weak🫤
As a ex-Mojo owner I can say with confidence that getting bike serviced is always a week's work because they have one good mechanic across Mahindra , jawa and Yezdi.. so I ended up visiting the service station regularly to get the bike fixed... that is not a good experience irrespective of how the product is... (all this in Bengaluru.. multiple service centers).. I'm not giving my monet again to them!
Oh wow! A week @Bhargav91? Is the work well-done at least?
@@motorinc nopes... replacements are okay... repair / adjustment had to be followed up at least 2 twice after the visit! (This was until 2023 when I sold the bike... not sure if anything has changed)
I would say this is great review with no filters. Your honesty is EPIC, man. Cheers.😁
Appreciate the change in background colour, the pure white used to felt tiring
Thanks for the feedback Shubham.
back when they launched it in 2018 , the "java enthusiasts doing rallies" PR caught everyone's attention.
Very good information
The lights are good and there is something good to say about 350 jawa riding at the limits come quick great fun in city .
"They didnt put any thought in that tiny, down market lcd display...so i am not going to either!!" - Shumi, 2024!!

Its a pleasure to my ears just to listen to you.
Glad to hear that @KTruth137! Thank you for the kind words!
Classic legends shold understand that people especially retro riders considering quality instead of price. Better product only work.

Oh wow! That sounds bad @TheTwinPost. Was there any resolution from the service centre for any of these issues?
@@motorinc They replaced the lid, but had no answer for the rusting parts other than a quick spray of WD-40. Also, their display bikes at the dealership also had rust + Perak displayed there had a bent swingarm (used to be a test ride bike which took a fall or two). Dealership location: Saket District Center, New Delhi.
Oh god. That sounds bad. We hope CL is working on this
Shumi has now become my favorite stand up comic too! Brilliant!
Some would call that Stockholm syndrome 😷
Would I trust this brand again?
Thank you for sharing you two. We appreciate it!
Love the way Shumar describes, it feels so relaxing 😌 alike my classic 350 to ride

But if we go with Design thats an Good Choice to purchase,,,,,
In 1963 I bought a new Jawa 250, then in 1984 I bought 1970 Jawa 350, which I completely rebuilt and kept for 15 years.
Eager to see what you guys have to say in your ride review of the 42FJ🤞
the learnings from this they are putting in goldstar and that will be a success for sure
Guess we'll know once they've launched @HunterVlog350cc.
Great Review Video , its was on point .
Thanks for watching @Zade_Rynn!
5:22 Shumi views on the instrument cluster really made me laugh. A friendly roast i guess and something Java needs to look into carefully
Agreed, @karun_vv7190 😊
Love subtle jabs at Jawa xD and amazing video. But i think shumi is being too critical about Jawa. I was skeptic too while I longed to buy Jawa 42 2.1 because of reviews like this. Finally after a year I bought the bike and its been a couple of months and I really love the bike. The company has been serious about the brand, i received 2 calls directly from the company representatives for the delivery and overall feedback. the service has been very professional at least in the area I live in Bangalore. Overall I am positive about the future of Jawa ,* Fingers crossed
Great to know that!
Thanks for sharing @neilsesl! Glad to hear from an owner. Shumi's approach to Jawa comes from an overwhelming negative sentiment that people have from their experience with them. So, we're glad to hear that they're on the right path.
Hey Shumi 👋 great content! 👌
I would suggest you to cross check the background you choose before rolling the camera. Because your Shirt colour, your face Skin tone, Jawa's reflective Chrome tank & the Background in the video all match to a great extent and it's tough on our eyes to focus on you!
Thank you for the feedback @naveennarayana_
Love the stance & presence ..
Looks apart from REs.
But letdown always has been its sounding. Hope it survives ..
And new bikes here is something interesting move added by classic legends
The company is nowadays is adding 2100 as pdi charges and 3900 for transportation and delivery charges ( they literally bring their bike in simple truck no premier packing and all) ..

Calmly explained..
Please please please please make such a video for yezdi roadster. It is a very anticipated and underrated bike for the specifications it offers at its price .
Request noted!
Interesting thoughts @kruzerblade4740. Guess we'll know when they arrive here.

Cheers.

Thanks for sharing your perspective!

@@motorinc i am one of those hardy jawa Yezdi loyalists who is in that list of people feeling let down
Not denying they have slipped and relied more on heritage value and cashing in on marketing and poor on engineering.
We agree @PhilipBallGarry. They have a steep climb ahead.
I get the idea of Form over function. Just so good looking. Sadly I need function more.
We can agree on that @PaulMacQ
I bought a jawa 42 in 2020
Issues I faced
- Rust in Rear suspension
- Tightness of handle bar due to poor wiring, which leads to scrapping of paint from the front dome
- ABS issue
- Starter Coil got burned + Had to change the wiring worth 12K-Under warranty
- Roll Over sensor issue (bike was called back)
- Afrer service they forget to put your nuts back to bike
- Fixing of rear brake is a nightmare in Cochin service center
- Timing chain was changed twice (With in a Year)
- Tenaioner was changed 3 times (with in a year)
-Engine Head Gasket was changed with in 4 months after I bought
- And the worst - once u give the bike, service ppl will say, u will get the bike after 1 week
I just lost my mind due to poor treatment of service ppl, and when i raised a mail that time i understood the central service coordination is the meaning of worst
Phew that sounds exhausting @tomc.j730. Do you still have it? If yes, does the service seem to be improving at all?
The machine you describe - classy, bulky etc - is not part of Jawa's DNA even historically though, Ethan
why need long stroke underpowerd engine
Yes let's hope!
A friend of mine bought the previous model and tried to surprise me with it, i was surprised in a sad sad way😢 that he bought it
Ouch
Mahindra should Relaunch Mojo 300 and should focus on service centers (2 stroke Jawa and yezdi is known for its beat, noise and smoke not only for looks,Evolution of RE is different, my opinion Jawa and Yezdi is not so successful )
Nice presentation, but there is a noticeable difference between front and rare mudguard's design.
Front mudguard looks classy where rare one smash the look.
