    Hi jonnyweston, thank you for bringing this to our attention. You are absolutely right - there was a discrepancy between different manufacturers, and this was in no way our intention. We have rectified this to give a more accurate comparison. Ultimately our /amplifier/ page is there for a rough guide, as all the manufacturers will try their best to fiddle the numbers and misrepresent the power rating. We will always try and put the RMS or lowest, most realistic, rating where possible.

    Fantastic video for sure guys!
    Well done! (if only the manufacturers would wake up and do stuff like this!)

    this is actually the first year that I have ever seen denon quote 1 ch driven, so I called them and asked them why they started doing it.
    They said they were doing it cause Onkyo and others have been doing it for years, and that endusers were being dramatically mislead when comparing amps.
    Very few users seemingly know how to compare correctly using RMS, so I was told that they quoted 1ch this year AS WELL as 7ch so that end users could make a fairer comparison using all examples of output

    Can you preamp the Front L/R speakers with 9.1?.. It only says (SB/FH/FW) on the speakers setup.

    Hi, I bought a Yamaha RX-V496RDS years ago at £500 when DTS had just arrived for DVD and it's still a good amp now. But I want to buy a new amp to get the best out of my HD setup but I only use the amp for TV, SKY, Xbox and Blu-ray and only have room for 5.1 sound. I have been told Denon are very good amp's but what would you say I am best going for. Any help would be great, Thank you.

      This is the best quality and value receiver on the market currently. I'd say wait for the X4100W to come out (which should be soon) and go for it. It's the same as the X4000 except it has additional support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, some updates on the software front, and introduces support for Dolby Atmos.

    I just bought this and i cant figure out how to bypass video processing in this receiver when watching a blu-ray movie...I have an oppo 103 and it does all work and i want the picture to remain untouched. How do i do this?

    Wondering whether anyone know how I could configure it to use HDMI video input on my device but the audio is from analog (Red/White). i.e. I don't want the audio coming directly from the HDMI cable, is that possible?

    i.e. Onkyo regularly quote:
    6ohm @ 1khz tone @ 1% THD
    BTW your website is incorrect - You are mixing up 6ohm figures with 8ohm
    avland.co.uk/amplifier/
    You quote Onkyo TXNR828 as being 180w per ch
    (6 ohm @ 1khz tone @ 1% THD for 1 ch figure)
    You quote Denon AVRX4000 as being 125w per ch
    (8 ohm @ 20hz-20khz @ .05% THD for 2 ch figure)
    Actually your site should quote the denon as 165w
    6 ohm @ 1khz tone @ .7% THD for 1 channel figure
    to be less misleading and a more accurate comparison

    I think this would be a downgrade from a AVC-A1SE.

    • @Typhoon792
      @Typhoon792 10 років тому

      How so?

    • @T-gamerNL
      @T-gamerNL 10 років тому

      Typhoon792 Because the amplifier is allot less powerful.

    • @Typhoon792
      @Typhoon792 10 років тому

      Elwin Franken Well, there's a difference between worse and less powerful. If it goes as loud as you'd ever want it with your speakers, why would that matter? The issue would be if the amplification section was of lesser quality like in terms of how it affects FR and measurements of distortion.

    • @T-gamerNL
      @T-gamerNL 10 років тому

      I have heard the AVR-X4000 and it performs worse on my old RS-IIIa Infinity, and
      well I want to reach atleast 115dB, at the other hand I might get 3 seperate Behringer iNuke 3000 for a 7.2.4 setup, Dolby Digital Atmos.

    • @Typhoon792
      @Typhoon792 10 років тому

      Elwin Franken You mean use the AVR-X4000 (or rather, future X4100W with Dolby Atmos) for its features but use the pre-outs for front, side, and back channels using three additional power amps?
      The 7.2.4 setup you mention - the rest of the speakers aside from the ones I mentioned you would use the internal amps then? That would make sense of course, as long as the main speakers are connected with external amplifiers if that's your issue.
      For the price of the Behringer iNuke however, why not just go with Crown at that point? They certainly make better amplifiers.
      The only thing I'm left wondering as I did last time, when you say you tried the AVR-X4000 and it performed worse, once again, do you mean it didn't go as loud or at equal levels it actually sounded worse (more distortion, less fullness, etc..)?
