Melee Combat- Sword & Shield Improvements

  • Clips from testing new combat improvements with a sword and shield. Fully replicated (multiplayer). Combat is directional based and attacks chained together (Left to right slashing, high attacks, thrusts, low attacks). Will be adding counters soon which will make a big difference. Changed camera position. Added hit markers and directional hit indicators (Bloody screen from damage location). Added attack phases (Windup & Release). Now characters are interrupted if they are hit during the windup phase. Both players and AI can feint during windup. Added the ability to "execute" characters on low health. Slowed characters general speed, plus slower attacking and blocking speed. Players must be looking at the direction of attacking weapon to block successfully. Added character VFX for when hit with fire or ice spells (Fire burns over time and ice slows or stops). Characters hit with heavy attacks are stunned for longer or interrupted for longer whilst blocking. General AI improvements.
    Unreal 5.3. High Settings -1440p DLSS - 3080 TI, Ryzen 7 5800x, 64 GB.
