Being cloudy doesn't help for sure, but when the sun's out, it's quite orange. Cameras don't do a justice unfortunately, really needs to be seen in person for the full effect. The Car Care Nut has a video that really demonstrates it well.
Beautiful truck. Mixed feelings on the color. On the one hand it's very unique and looks great! On the other hand, it's seems like a color that would attract thieves and pretty much everyone in town, at your job, or your hangouts KNOWS that's YOUR truck. More often than not, I like to move incognito.
Love the color but honestly, I think I would get tired of the color after a year or less. My next 4Runner will be my last car purchase so I am leaning towards a classic color. Good luck with your Solar Octane, she’s a beauty.
I hope all of the dealer neon grease paint comes off your nice black lug nuts where they did their torque checks. I find it is a nice touch that these newer style TRD Pro Black Rims come with black lug nuts and black wheel locks. Keeps that stealthy black look going through out the wheel and tire. Gorgeous color. Might want to get those front windows tinted asap for all the lookie-loos you're gonna get.
I was thinking of getting a pro. However, the local dealerships are asking $15,000 above MSRP, or $70,000. Kind of hard to rationalize something that is still almost 14 year old design. Other negatives: has a really bad gas milage, a 5 speed transmission and poor backup camera system. Based on research, most new cars in demand are asking above MSRP. However, most experts agree that due to rising interest rate (8 percent plus) , rising inflation (9 percent plus) and deeping recession, raising unemployment (from 3 percent to 5 percent esstimate) combined with supply problems resolution and cranked up production, by June 2023 the dealers will be back to MSRP with incentives.
I'd say that applies to everything, with probably exception of the TRD PRO's. At least for my area, they have always been rare/only available if you order and get on a list. My first wanted TRD PRO was the Voodoo Blue, but only ever seen one in person that was sold already. IF this is indeed the final model year, this will undoubtedly be the rarest of the rare (color, trim, etc). Similar to final year FJ's, though with the TRD PRO trim, there's only roughly ~3000 total.
4Runner is definitely not for you. 14 year old proven design, Lexus-level quality control from the factory in Japan, 5-speed bulletproof transmission and "outdated", yet simple and robustly-built interior and exterior are the exact reason why people love these things and ask any salesperson, these things never stay on the lots very long. You were right about one thing though, $15k over msrp is ridiculous, as is ANYTHING over msrp.
6'2" or so, only downside in my opinion is the the angle of the rear view mirror due to height (could combat that by moving seat farther back I suppose). Otherwise, head/ceiling height has never been something I've had an issue with.

Thank you! Really just nationwide searching for any leads. I went through every dealer in the Midwest until I found a real on lot picture of the vehicle in the listing.. Pretty much a lottery though to be honest. Most dealers will try to pull a fast one with deposits on phantom inventory that never comes. Good luck!!

I think they fit the truck well aesthetically. I'm a bit taller, so I tend to use them less as a step, and more of a show kicker for the snow. Worth it as part of the TRD PRO look for me!
As an owner of a 4Runner with predator steps, I find them useless. I would recommend going to a dealership and testing them by sitting in the vehicle and then exiting. You will find the step to be off and useless.
You're totally right, it's was a great vehicle too! My plans are to put a Magnuson supercharger in this year, though mostly just wanted something different to spice things up really. I was approaching a major maintenance interval on the GX, needed new tires, about the burn out of warranty too. Also as a high mileage daily driver(~30K Miles last year), maintenance and insurance costs are exceptionally cheaper on the 4Runner. Lastly, if this truly is the last model year of the 5th gen (which it sounds like it is), having the rarest color of the rarest trim of that year means this thing will basically never lose much value. I'm a fan of the FJ, and see final MY's go for more than MSRP was on them a decade ago..
Question, what’s the point of buying reliable vehicles year after year? 21 4runner, Gx460, now another 4runner? Isn’t that what people should do with German cars? 😂
Who wants to bet Toyota will ruin the new gen 4runner with touch screens, delete actual buttons, delete manual transfer case, and tons of gloss black plastic.

I just got mine yesterday on white ,the dealer had one on transit and it wasn’t taken I waited 2 weeks to get here I guess you may say I got lucky 😎

TRD pro 4 Runner is a nice Vehicle but why trade in the GX 460? I know the infotainment is old but it will never fail.
