    I have two of the Adicam carts, so little tip: I build the cart first without the wheels and then add the wheels on last, by doing that it stands by itself when adding the wheels, it's a time saver :)
    Also with the spinning locks for the wheels that live on the inside of the cart, when you disassemble the cart just leave them unlocked and open so next time it's quicker to slide the wheels in and then do the twist lock. 👍

    • @AnotherCameraChannel
      @AnotherCameraChannel Місяць тому

      Also when disassembling (now I got to the ned of the video), flip the cart onto it's short end, wheels off first, then take off the top layer and fold in the supports. I also don't put the wheels inside anymore, just makes it too heavy.

      @@AnotherCameraChannel yeah definitely lighter without the wheels inside

    Here I am binge watching your videos again on a trip up to Grand Forks North Dakota to DP an Episode for a new TV show.
    I can totally relate to getting that client feedback on needing to find a faster way to get gear in and out for shoots.
    It used to take me two or three trips to get my gear in and out of the location from my vehicle.
    During COVID I picked up the four foot collapsible rolling scaffolding and absolutely love it, Especially with the standing desk modifications I've made, however, I do want to upgrade to bigger wheels.

      @@travisminneapolis I bought the scaffolding system as well but couldn’t get it to what I wanted. I wish it worked though. Super fast.

    Not wanting you to use a light is savage! But loved the way u figured out how to produce that tight shot with clear image zoom. This is why knowing your gear is key.

    One thing you've always demonstrated in your vlogs is the fact that you've supported other folks involved in production, networked with them, and have even contacted them as alternates when you have a schedule conflict or need to scale up for a client. That has in turn brought you work as well. What this guy did was totally opposite, and such a lame move. His entire approach in dealing with your client producer (in front of you especially) was very much tacky and came off looking desperate. The followup initiated by your client asking about other areas you provide services means they enjoyed working with you and were pleased with the results you were able to deliver based on their requirements of having a light footprint and being flexible and adaptable on the fly.

    There’s plenty video work to go around for everyone to get a piece of the pie. Be encouraged bro, your quality of work will speak loudly for you and most of our clients stick with us for more than our quality of work. They also keep giving us work because of our personalities, work ethic and the professionalism that we bring to each production.

    your mate will do well w that car business / YT channel no doubt - my 2 cents, he needs more detail / texture shots and a sprinkling of more telephoto shots. also dynamic gimbal orbits with a tonne of parallax and "empty / location" backgrounds can really elevate the look n feel too (as you'd know). looks like his video was all shot with a 24-70 or similar. details and telephotos would definitely add a lot more interest / variety otherwise you could almost shoot the entire thing on a phone (and drone) - IMO he needs to differentiate even further (for the untrained eye) from phone shot content, else he'll eventually be replaced by it when / if the dollars invested in the YT channel become an issue / or are questioned down the track... There's def some mid range detail and telephoto shots in there, but as he progresses I reckon he needs more.. ie with those car follow shots it'd be nice to see the lens at 100-150mm shooting back at a car as it's driving on the highway, with the focal length really compressing that background as opposed to the much safer / easier to shoot wider shots in the current edit... perhaps he was just playing it safe for those shots which I get, but with his pitch he could also go in with ideas of what he'd like to improve / where he's like to elevate his shots even further once it was a paid gig and as their channel grew etc etc - talking like "it's going to grow, here's where I see us going, etc etc etc to further garner that excitement and s further demonstrate his commitment / intent to make this YT channel something of great value"

      Thanks for the insight. The owner has more of a priority for sharing the story of the shop, their unique employees and getting people on board with their mission. Those shots you mentioned would look cool but aren’t the differentiating factors at the moment.

    David, do you think Production Hub is good to join for a DOP in Shanghai, China? I tried to find out from them if they thought clients would search for intl talent on there but didn't really get a good reply, so I'm curious what you think.
    Oh, also: I tried the Shimoda but found it just so shallow for a rolling case, so I returned it and am now ordering the Tenba 21 Rolling, which should be carry-on but a bit deeper. I'm excited to see how it will handle my C300-3.

    • @davidmorefield
      @davidmorefield  Місяць тому

      No they do not have a good international presence. I would not suggest they use it. The tenba 21 sounds nice! Not sure if it will fit in a carry-on overhead compartment though.
