The Sonos Ace headphones have received mixed reviews, mainly due to the lack of WiFi. However, I bought them myself and think they are some of the best noise-canceling headphones I've used. In my Sonos Ace headphones review, I found them lighter and more comfortable than the AirPods Max, making them ideal for long use. Although they don't match the Beats Fit Pro's secure fit for gym use, they don't fall off and offer great sound quality and noise cancellation.
In the Sonos Ace vs AirPods Max comparison, the AirPods Max have slightly better mid-range clarity and immersive sound on Apple devices, but the Sonos Ace provide rich, full sound out of the box. Their noise cancellation is outstanding, silencing gym noises effectively. Despite some limitations, like lacking WiFi and not connecting to the Sonos app, the Sonos Ace are worth their price for comfort, sound quality, and ANC. If you're looking for the best over-ear headphones for the gym or an AirPods Max alternative, the Sonos Ace are a strong contender.

If you could 'Frankenstein' the PERFECT pair of headphones or earbuds, from any brand or model, what would they be made up of? I'd go, Sonos' sound quality, Sonos' comfort, AirPods' connectivity with the Apple ecosystem, AirPods earcup design (not the head strap/band!) and, actually, the TiTum's epic headphone 'modelling' app.

Just give me AirPod Max’s with the headband of the Sonos and a little less weight and I’m happy. The Sonos has been a disappointment for me, I’ll be returning them for various reasons.
APM with USB-C, Bathys driver and tuning, and Bathys DAC mode. A foldable design like the Ultra is icing on the cake but unnecessary.
These things only come off my head when I go to sleep. Absolutely love mine❤

Very true! To be fair, we usually only compare to the Max’s because that’s what everyone else seems to be interested in the most!
... and the Maxes sound better the Aces have a treble bump

Sonos was one of the best I have used for work out. It doesn't fall as much as the Sony xm8. Airpod Max is horrible using at the gym .
i know its a weird question but since you compared them to the beats, how would you compare to airpods pro 2? interm of anc and sound quality (in apple products)
Having them for a week, I'm not blown away. Also got the Bose QuiteComfort Ultra and Sennehiser Momentum 4 as a direct comparison.
Also, I'm about to buy my soundbar and maybe a set of surround speakers, that's it. Sonos would've been one my options but the way they force people to ditch their android device and switch to Apple kinda puts me off. There is a reason I abandoned Apple but Sonos doesn't leave too many choices if I want to unlock their full potential, eg. calibration or audio swap between the Arc and Ace, etc. I'm still shocked to learn that their retail boxes don't even have the 'Works with Android' badge, only the 'Made for iPhone/iPad' ones. When I had a chat with their rep, he clearly stated that Sonos prioritise Apple and iOS compatibility and this is the main goal with all their software and hardware developments, however he also mentioned in a very arrogant manner, if I'm really desperate to use them with android, most of their products MAY work with limited functions but it's not their intended purpose. Why can't an audio company stay neutral? The way they approach their consumers is quiet disgusting, discriminating eveything is not Apple.
I mean, from a business perspective it makes sense: Apple's market share is about 50% vs ALL the other brands 🤷🏻♂️ Agree that it's not ideal though

Either way, an audio company should always remain an audio company and therefore be NEUTRAL. There is no such company apart from Sonos who would force potential consumers to pick their side (OS-wise) carefully, otherwise they will not make business with you.
Hi Pete! I watched the Ace review with interest like many others since the day of their debut. In use cases no one ever contemplates or tries the use of headphones for video editing, which often turns out to be a point of failure in many products even high-end ones due to the lag that is introduced with BT connections or even with wired use (if possible). I own several headphones both in-ear and over-ear, and only some of them can be used for the purpose without generating delays that obviously translate into problems when editing video. Have you tried using them both in BT connection (which with 5.4 should be very fast and stable) and wired? It could be a further point to consider regarding an aspect that actually turns out to be a potential 360° use.

I'm keeping an eye on the sonos Ace headphones, they're exactly what I'm looking for in over ear headphones. I want them for their ability to connect to my sonos soundbar, but it currently only supports the Arc and I have a Beam gen 2. So, I'm waiting till my soundbar is supported.

You should clarify in the title, that you are talking about wireless headphones. How are they compared to Focal Bathys or T+A T headphones? Overall in headphones we are obviously talking about Hifiman Susvara, Abyss, Focal, Audeze and others in the summit fi world. Not to mention Warwick acoustics Aperio, Sennheiser HE-1, Hifiman Shangri-La Senior or the new Raal Immanis.
