RIP Graeme Edge...drummer, who passed today at 80.
Thank the Good Lord I saw them when they were all alive. So much talent. Very Underated lead guitar and Singer
The Bass groove is off the hook amazing. So much talent
That's some kick-ass R&R right there, kids!
We have lost another fantastic drummer. The band of Angels up in heaven are getting another drummer ,, Then sings my soul. Rest in Love and Peace...
I'm 81 and still luv luv them!!
I can die happy … finally in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the early days of the Moody Blues there were so many “British invasion” bands that I didn’t pay much attention to them. Now, after all these years, I’ve come to realize that they are multi-talented singers/songwriters and musicians of the highest order. Hayward, as a guitarist, is as good or better than the best of that era. They are one of the best “live” bands in the music world.
The Late, Great Graeme Edge on Drums.
The essence and spirit of Moody Blues - the beautiful man - Graeme Edge
RIP mate.
Justin Hayward is one of the most talented musicians ever! John Lodge is the perfect companion to Justin --Genius, Gorgeous, amazing-- what can I say-- best band of all time in my opinion
Masterpiece...written by John when asked "What is the meaning of life?" John said "I don't know, I'm just a singer in a rock n roll band.
Justin Haywood is such a handsome man and I love I'm just a singer in a rock and roll band.. Your awesome all of you are
They are all unbelievably talented musicians. RIP Ray..we miss you...
U571....talented. ..their albums prove they were more than talented...a different time. ...a different audience. ...plus less complicated times .....bigger? I think yes but what lovely tunes from the first album with philli orchestra. ....fans unite to talent .....I love em.💙
The immortal Moody Blues. They have a sound of their own that is unlike anything else.
Absolutely!
Yep! The harmony, the symphony, the writing and that energy, holy crap! They're obviously very schooled with that English sophistication, much respect!
Still one of the great bands after all these years. John Lodge is one of the best bass players I have ever heard.
He plays Lead runs on his Bass. Incredible.
Yet he skipped his iconic bass riff after the drum intro.
I just cannot understand how this incredibly talented group is still not in the R&R HOF. Such talented musicians, singers, arrangers, songwriters, producers. A HUGE injustice to these wonderful men!!!
I want to see Justin sing it the way he did when he was younger!!!!!!!❤😂
you know this song still moves me too this day!! I'm 63 and I have followed them to this day, still tappin' my feet and bobbin' my head!!!
Im 53 and I am right behind you!
I'm 30, It doesn't matter how old my friend. Just rock it!
Im 69,ditto!
I'm with you brother, 63 also. nothing compares to the music of our youth
RIP Graham Edge. Here at his best
I didnt realize Hayward was that good with a guitar. Man he plays that solo effortlessly!
Moody Blues are an enigma of the music world.
R U Kidding? His solo on Ride My See Saw was one of the best in rock or psychedelic guitar history. It's nuanced even.
One of the more underrated bands and guitarists. I spent a good two, three consecutive years listening to this group.
@@jonathanwobesky9507 I love that song! Such tight harmony, and as you said, that guitar solo was killer!
His voice and songwriting are so awesome that his guitar playing doesn't get as much attention
watch how hard Grame works this song i have never seen such perfect timing by a drummer especially one who is in constant motion!
He had help with this one. But the fact that he was still rocking in his late 70s at nearly the same tempo as when he originally recorded the song? Much respect. Even Phil had to slow down at the end. There are very few old drummers in this business.
NONE BEFORE THEM....NONE AFTER....RAY WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED & LOVINGLY MISSED.....😇🙏💖🤗
heyaaa! these granddads rock, don t they !! love to see you guys !
a fan since 1967.
This takes me way back to AM radio in STL.
Very early this morning I drank an enchanted brew of shrooms and just listened to Justin and the Moody’s, and other musicians out there that just reminded me that a magical time of a long time ago -1969, is still the only real message, and it’s. called Love!! I listened to song after song transport me to Paradise! Thank you, all you wonderful musicians!
We have all been truly blessed to be brought up in such magical times!!!!!
Even 30 years after they recorded this song they still killed it.... and it STILL took another 18 years to get into the Hall of Fame? Something ain't right.......
It was originally recorded 50 years ago.
Justin doesn't make mistakes on that guitar. He's spot-on. And he doesn't try to overplay.
Titans of music
One of the few bands that can use an orchestra as part of the band and make it sound incredible!
ELO is another great example
@@MrMacca6969 And The Shadows early -60'. Norrie Paramore's philharmonic orchestra.
And ELO
We all got old and remember so well 50 yrs ago when life looked so different and Moody Blues appeared mystical.
Absolutely wonderful!! I love Justin Hayward!! He's amazing on the guitar!! Wow!! 💖💖💖
The luckiest people on the planet to see and hear that awesomeness live, so damn jealous!
Justin is a very underrated guitar player. This solo kicks ass!
He can kick arse when he wants to .
Well said Erik. Perfect choice of words.
It's unbelievable these guys are still performing live and as good as they ever were or better maybe. They are a really great band I have enjoyed over the many years.
One of the best bands ever. Rest In Peace, Ray. We miss him very much.
These guys were so brilliant. Nothing like them before or since.
I miss Ray
and always will
cannot help it....
will still see Moodies whenever
I can...but....can't replace
Rays talent and unending SPIRIT!!
RIP Ray Tomas (great musician)
I am an Englishman aged 76 who has always enjoyed the music scene and as a 17-year-old had the pleasure of seeing the Rolling Stones play at the Marquee Club in London on 12 July 1962 at their first performance just after they were formed and shortly afterwards at Studio 51 in Great Newport Street when Mick Jagger bought me a Coca-Cola at the bar being a poor student. However, my interest suddenly changed to the newly formed Beatles when I saw them playing in the Finsbury Park Astoria on Christmas Eve 1963 and again on December 11, 1965 and guess who else was playing alongside the Beatles - THE MOODY BLUES, I was blown away and from that day to this, now living in Telemark Norway I follow the Moodys all the time. I was a regular attendee to all their UK concerts including St Davids Hall Cardiff Wales on 26 September 2006 and lucky enough to be sitting with my wife in the front row from the stage at the Royal Albert Hall London in their recorded two- and half-hour performance on 6 October 2008 and I saw them for the last time at the Bristol Hippodrome UK on 22 September 2010. Then they seemed to disappear to the USA but they will always be in my heart and soul - the world's best ever!
im jealous
if you have kids and grandkids, hope you shared your experiences with them
@@thewkovacs316 Thanks for response l very much involved my sons and grandchildren. My youngest son went into the music industry forming Channel House Studios n Bristol England recording the likes of Alison Moyet, Ronnie Size, Manic Street Preachers and Stackridge,When my late wife Sylvi had her 40th birthday party on Basils Bar Mustique inJanuary 1989 it was attended by Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr and Barbara Bach. Best in 2023 Roger
It’s refreshing to see a band who is clearly playing live without miming, autotune or pitch correction. You can hear that the voices are real, not perfect, and absolutely expressive.
YES! And even so, they are pretty darn close to perfect. The harmonies are darn good, their voices are strong, and they are in tune.
I agree.
The Moody Blues have been my favorite band since college, in the 60s. Not in the Hall of Fame, that's the Hall of Fame's loss. These guys have been the perfection of a Rock band. Music and no politics, great for them.
I actually love John Lodge's singing. And that baseline is soooo awesome!
Wonderful writer and good looking too!!!😌
One of the best bass players ever in my book.
This band deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Their music is timeless. I absolutely love them
They're in the Hall of Fame now.
it’s a crime that their not in hall of fame
The finally made it in 2018. Everyone was there except Ray Thomas who died a few days before the induction. Very sad! The oldest one was Graeme Edge (the original Moody) attending the induction with Hayward and Lodge. They got a woman to play the flute part, but it didn't sound great. They really needed Ray Thomas there. It's a crying shame that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame waited too long to vote for the Moody Blues to induct! Shame on the committee!
Laine was there and he wasn't in the group that long but it was lovely to see him there to accept an award.
I saw them in concert several years ago and right in front of me were a group of teenagers. When they played this song, I don't think one of the kids feet ever touched the ground . I could tell they were lovin the show. The band members could have been fathers or grandfathers but these kids thought they rocked!
The energy on that stage was electrifying ... they burned up those guitars... smokin'. Been loving those Moodies for decades. John & Justin ... what dreams are made of (sigh). Ray was a nice drink of water in those early Laine days. GE never missed a beat. Incomparable band in my eyes.
Unbelievable, the music never gets old,Thanks Ray Thomas
This just proves that when you have talent, REAL TALENT, there is no slowing down or stopping them. To sound as grand as they do live, to sound just like their album studio recording, says a great deal of this fantastic group!!!! And to the people "in charge" of the so-called 'Rock and Roll Hall of Fame', when the hell are you going to induct this wonderful band?!?!?!?! Don't you think it's WAAAAAAAY past time?????? Get it done, folks!!! Before it's too late!!!!
Now this is music!! Pure genius! Loved it
Splendid and incredible music. A group that wrote history of progressive rock.
great, timeless song from the eternally youthful 60's children...
This is beyond tremendous! Love these guys musically and everything I've ever read that they've said. This is as close to being there as you can get without being there! Long live the Moodys!!!
True!!!
I still get chills when I hear Justin Hayward's solo at the end of the tune. Thanks You for the footage!!!
Sincerely,
Steve
what an awesome, underated guitarist Justin Hayward is!
Great rock band. After all the hits, the amazing songs they have written, they still have not been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. These guys should have been one of the first bands to be inducted.
I like the old version when they younger, they have more energy it was accelerating!!!!!👏❤️
I love this one too but now that they are older don’t have the energy and passion!
Over the years some of my favorite memories include listening to the Moody Blues. Since the late 60's I've been putting their LP's on the turn table and in 2005 I got lucky when I saw them live at a small venue in southern Oregon.
When it comes to rock and roll, the Moody Blues can roll it out..
I LOVE YOU, MOODY BLUES!!!! You've always made REAL music COOL ♥
I could hardly wait to see them performing on stage with all the legends playing this song. What a night that going to be.
ABSOLUTLEY BEAUTIFUL...💙💙💙💙.... JUSTIN IS JUST STUNNING, HIS VOICE IS PURE MAGIC..💙💙💙.... HIS WORD'S ARE SHEER POETRY..💙💙💙💙...
Their concerts are so much fun to be at! The band are down-to-earth musicians just writing and singing songs knowing their audience will enjoy. Listening to this song live sounds very close to their recording. These guys didn't go out and do anything to themselves to gain unwanted publicity that would make them look foolish. No piercings of ears, nose, eyebrows, navels and what other parts of the bodies they do. These guys can groove better than most of the musicians up and coming. RIP Graeme Edge (drummer) and Ray Thomas (flutist). Classical guys producing classical sounds.
Moody Blues rank up there with GENESIS!!
I Love all their songs!!!
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Still my most favorite band of all times! Thank you for posting!
Love The Moody Blues music since I was 14 in 1970 !
Good morning! great song by the Moody Blues!!!!!
They Are Really Good
Not just my favorite song of theirs, but the best best Sony they ever did! And to do it, like they did, in their time of grey hair.. OMGosh! Stand up live performance!
They nailed it!
Will never be able to say "that was the greatest performance I've ever seen by any band" again!
Dam! You just made this 51 year old feel young again!...This was a better performance than the original 42 year's ago!.....Just goes to show...YOUR NEVER TOO OLD TO ROCK N' ROLL!!!
They are never boring!
And they always have great hair!
FIFTY_ONE! You ARE young!
@Steve Sure glad that i was not born a turd sandwich such as yourself! ANS I AM NO DUDE YOU DUD!!!!! I am a woman with a whole lot of sass and if i could, i would kick your tiny young ass!
@Steve Call me a bitch, you fired the first shot and used foul language! maybe the title is more fitting for you, old man!
JUst magical. R.I.P. Ray and Graham
Bravo! They haven't lost a step!
Justin tore that Gibson UP!!!!!! Amazeballs guitarist!! ❤️
Yes,, the greatest band of all time..its so sad that Ray and Graeme have passed away...I loved them in concert when I saw them...it was FANTASTIC! I was so fired up, I couldn't sleep when I got home from the concert....that's how great it was....I LOVE THE MOODY BLUES!!
RIP Ray! Sadly missed.
My favorite band from the 60's.
This one is so passionate!
Wow, even in 2000 they piayed this in the right key & tempo. So many artists/bands give up & can't reach those high notes in later years (see Stones, Billy Joel). Love the Moodys!!!
Let's be honest and get real here.. they rocked the living fuck out of that place. I think its outstanding
RIP Graeme Edge. Perhaps his greatest recorded moment.
They've been rocking along with the likes of the Beatles, Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Back in the 60's after a long "Trip" coming back to earth with the Moody's kept us not only sane, but exploring further. Shine on Moody Blues!
This is how y'all looked 18 years ago. Me and my son was extremely amazed!! Talk are the best
Saw them twice, once with a full orchestra. Awesome!
Best version ever!! Thanks again!!
Thank you so much Moody Blues for sharing your wonderful talents to help your listeners. God bless everyone from Patrick
Great performance of a little masterpiece.Thank you so much for promoting it here.Cheers
...And KISS is in hall of shame....sad...
Nice description of I J A S I A R & R BAND.
EXCELLENT...I. LOVE .👏👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️ Justin 💕💋
It's just awesome performance....................class, pure class
It's good to see that they're still going and still terrific musicians. Bass and Lead guitar are awesome. They really have their own sound
John " F'kn" Lodge...kick A$$ !!!
wow that solo justin !!! what great musicians
Hello John, this is Joseph, I am 60 and can I relate! I saw them in 1981 and 1986, 3 rows back in 86 in KC. Yes I grew up with them too! Still like "Go Now", that's Denny Laines song. Their music just tells our story, being baby boomers and all. Timeless music! I haven't listened for a while, but listening now. its like a visit from an old friend! God Bless You! I am turning on my fiancé to their music, especially this concert at Royal Albert Hall. You have to be a legend to even perform there!
People from the generation before me really know how to rock.
Great performances. I have always been a fan, off & on between marriage & raising 2 children. Justin Hayward amazing song writing & singer & guitar player. I'm always moved by his music. 😊 ty.
Brings back my youth & memories ✨️. Thank you.
Lodge wrote this song.
I'm so glad I found this video 🥳🥳🥳
I’ve never seen a bass player step out front and lead like that!! Excellent
Brilliant band..Many good memories
They deserve to be in the rock and roll hall of fame
Each member of the Moody Blues excels as a musician as well as composer. Their “Moods” aka thoughts swing from love, heartbreak, see the world as it is and then Fun! John Lodge’s “Just a Singer,” hits fun and shows the dynamic duo, “shot gunning” each other as they always do. Around 3:47, they’re amazing, hitting the frets higher and higher. WOW! Thank you for sharing ~ Janet Thompson Deaver
In the original recording of this song ray Thomas played the saxophone on this song
I took my first university degree in philosophy because of the Moody Blues!!!!!
