The cars they “like” on this show are not a practical price for everyday people. Apart from the handling I feel like this was a shit review for the Mazda 6 and I don’t understand I had the 05 Mazda 6 sedan as my first car only got rid of it in 2022 it was freaking awesome! And I waited so long to replace it because NOTHING compared, finally could afford a new Mazda3 this year and not the bullet (also because I was sick of having yearly inspections due to the age of)
Idk I had a 2006 Mazda 3 hatch as my first car and it was fun to drive and had decent spec so idk why so much hate even back then, that thing handled so good.
My parents had a 2006 Mazda 6 TS 2.0 auto between 2009 and 2014. It did 70k miles in that time, took our whole family from the UK to Poland and back twice, and never gave us any trouble. Great car.
We just traded in my wife's 2005 Mazda6 yesterday; the A/C leak and weird transmission gremlin and insistent airbag light and rusty hood all got to be too much. But we loved driving it for all those sixteen straight years, and it curb stomped lots of contemporary replacement candidates in the handling-and-zoom-zoom department. ❤️
I've owned two of them and apart from the front wheel drive I must say it's a wonderful car. Very nice to drive and the luxury sports model, which both have been for me it has a Bose sound system which is incredible. Great car.
You’ve got to remember that most Mazdas are the normal cars, especially in the UK, and the 323 and the 626 we’re very very boring to drive, so it’s more the fact that a normal Mazda at this time (‘02/‘03ish) can handle that is surprising them, which at the time was a fair observation. Just to note, my grandad had a mazda 6 at around this time, lovely car.
The problem with this mazda 6 is that she gives you so much confidence that you push it way too much to the limit. and most of the average consumers will destroy it until you buy a second 3rd or 4th hand which is what happened to me. I switched every single piece in that car to perfection and made it absolutely brand new from the inside all I have to do is a paint job and she is absolutely incredible. I would not switch it for anything else 2nd hand. I will keep it until I have enough money to buy a first hand car maybe like a Kia Sorento 2023 or a Hyundai veloster N and tune it a bit.
Nice! Got the exact same car in the exact same color and trim with the 2.3 166 bhp. It is a real pleasure to drive in. Still keeps up very well with traffic because of the mid range power.
My parents had one so it was the first car I drove and learned with when I was 16. I know I didn't have really any experience with other cars but I loved it so much, I bought a Mazda 323 as my first car.
I've had that exact same model (except with the leather bucket seats and bose stereo) for 2 years now. not fast in terms of raw power but the handling feels very sporting, and you can even get lift off oversteer on wet roads which can then be very easily controlled
I have an 06 Mazda 6 GTS V6 hatch with the very rare Aisin 6 speed auto (Toyota trans) and I absolutely love the car, and this is coming from someone who owns a FBO 450 HP 335i. The Mazda handles amazing, very comfortable, has 240 HP, etc, and it’s been super reliable and still looks amazing almost 20 years later. Paint is in 9/10 and interior is 9/10 with 140K miles. I’m mostly amazed that the stock suspension still feels super tight at this mileage. Really well built vehicle if you skip the ford 4 cylinder and the Jatco trans.
I got the 4 banger but ima see if I can find one that was destroyed in the rear end (it's a fwd I just need the drivetrain parts) with the v6 6 speed standard. I plan on having the trans axle completely rebuilt so I have a decent top speed (no more 3000 rpms at 70) and I'm gonna rebuild the motor for mostly forged parts, bare minimum the rods. Gonna turbo it nothing crazy maybe 10 psi. Not gonna go cheap I'm getting a garret I want it to last. Dude its gonna be epic, and I figure I can probably hit right around 350 hp pretty easily in that little car. New wheels and coil overs first tho I got a bit of strut noise so ima use that as an excuse to completely redo the suspension. I'm just not sure I'm ready for the money pit its gonna become lmfao
My 2018 mazda3 got me to hell and back several times before the oil pump failed and it died. Then I took all the money I had $5000 and bought the cheapest car I could get: a black 2006 V6 mazda6 and she has 191,000 miles on it and still runs like I just drove it off the dealership lot.
I've kept one of these for the better part of a decade because it's the most fun car I've ever driven. Would honestly rather rip a back road in this than a Toyobaru 86 or Fiesta ST (owned both). Plus it's civilzed.
Me too. Have S6Gt, fully loaded, purchased as 2nd owner in 2007. Love it. Don't know why they're surprised by the handling. My dads' 84 RX-7 felt like it was on rails.
i’ve always been told japanese cars are the best best engines in the world along with germany. I was also told by mechanical friends mazda 6 cars are absolutely built well and will last a long time
21 years later we sold our Mazda 6 2.3l to buy an Mazda 6 MPS 2.3l Turbo. The only reason we sold it, the Car had 330.000km on first Chain and Engine and you know what? The car runs and runs and runs. You just need to keep an eye on rust.
Have you tried it on the highway, how loud is the hum in the interior, wind, mirrors, mine is a 2014 gasoline model, it has 50,000 km, but it is brutally loud at highway speeds..
They're completely over looking the miata in this context. Mazda makes those and they really like them. This was the only good looking mazda 6 I think. They became ugly and bloated right after this generation up until the latest one. The only reason people buy these is the same reason why people buy the nissan altima, because it's the cheapest. And their driving of it really shows how unhappy they are that they could not afford something nicer. People generally do not care for these types of cars, although, the altima is abused more from what I've seen.
