Great video I have plenty of spare parts trying to get that bottom bracket correct. Finally. And you are the first to demonstate actually start his bike start.
with a pull start, i actually just removed my cranks and bought a threaded steel rod and put foot pegs on it. took the freewheel off and put a disc brake adapter on it, and converted it to hydraulic disc brakes. i have a schwinn occ chopper i did this to
You dont need the wide pedals on the bike its really just a cosmetic preference. And also to the guy autizmo..... You can start out from a dead stop it just takes time to get used to how your clutch is. I just give it a little gas and slowly release the clutch. Stalling is a result of letting the clutch out too fast. Thank you guys and keep up the good work. Ride safe everyone
Did you have to any problems with the rope starter I purchased 1 & when I pull the rope the rope won't go back in. sometimes half way out, I tried greasing it even before I put it on the motor it wouldn"t go back in. then the peice in the housing broke off that holds the spring. They sent me a replacement & that one is the same I see there is a couple of difference models on Ebay.
On my bike if the engine is started I have to be moving to engage or else I stall it. Is there a trick or is that issue resolved with a pull start? Theoretically would you even need the pedals?
+Andrew Agustin Hi Andrew. I think you mean a centrifugal clutch but no, I do not. I use the stock friction plate system with clutch lever. Thanks for the comment.
You activate the clutch for connect the engine to the wheel, while your moving, for crank it up. With the pullstart this is not anymore necessary,as you can directly crank the engine with the rope~
Some times you need to help the motor in an intersection ,and if the motor dies on you you can go back home ,pull start is just a "novelty"luxury item.
the bigger China Girls (47mm and + piston) mostly all tend be have higher compression than the smaller ones, but you can alter that with a thicker head gasket if you had to
sand me a linke cuz my just broke sir it keep pulling hard the other way afffter affter working for so manny days fine now it can t be pulll with out rilly herting my hand
Feminist Lobster that is what I thought when I tried it the bike would not start and the rope just came out of the handle. I might just buy some paracord and replace the string then try it again. Do you have any other tips. Right now I can’t ride mine because I broke the chain tensioner and am having one custom built by a friend.
Rope snapped because the clutch was engaged to the rear wheel. Always disengage clutch when the bike is still. Upgrade to a spring chain tensioner instead of the stock one, you won't regret it.
Feminist Lobster I bought one but the one I bought I have to build a bracket to mount it to the frame. I had the clutch disengaged when I tried pull starting it. It was very bad to pull thought I even push the lever back and it was back as far as it would go.
@@samn5362 loosen the star/flower nut on the clutch plate. Pull lever all the way while loosening it until the bike moves freely. Mine was too tight and the clutch wouldn't disengage from the motor until I adjusted it.
Lots of people sell them. Bunch of them on eBay & Amazon. Usulay they go for $130 for a 'complete' kit but it is recommended you put another $100 to $200 in upgrades to make it more reliable. Pretty much what I had to do with my 2 stroke build since most of the kit parts are junk.
For me, too much hassle for the limited benefit. I start mine by coasting down the driveway. Pedal start isn't a big deal. Not worth getting new cranks. It's helpful for starting the bike when you're working on it, but if you've got a center mount kickstand you can do that with quick stomp on the pedal almost like a Kickstarter.
I was thinking about these but seeing as you have to be moving anyway to get off the clutch (or end up burning it pretty quickly) these really aren't that great. esp that you have to deal with pedal clearance.
how long did that pull start last? I've heard they r cheap and most often the rope will break, but the housing is pot metal so that's why I've avoided these...
Looks like it's the sprocket adapter that clamps right on to the hub. No mods are really needed for that. It's important to know your hub size though. Measure before buying a sprocket adapter. Most common hub size is 1.5. Some sellers also have sprocket adapters for smaller rear hubs like in 1.0 & 1.3 sizes. From what I've learned beach cruisers typically have the 1.5 hubs & mountain bikes & some road/hybrid bikes have the smaller 1.0 to 1.3 hubs.
Jake! You skipped the awesomest part! Turn the crank so we can see and you can explain why you needed a non-standard crank with wide crank arms. Answer: you had a one-piece crank. There's about a football stadium of clearance there. I assume you need a special crank called a CONVERSION CRANK - on which you can mount your wide crank arms - and that should do it. If you're careful when you order!
Stupid waste of time and waste of money I'm very confused why you would ever do this to your bike not only as the wide crankset a lot of work but it is uncomfortable to pedal and ride and it is weak and I've broken two of those on bikes that I had in the past the pedal start is so convenient and so easy to operate I truly do not understand why people are doing this
don’t buy these the string in mine broke after 2 days i didn’t t do anything to it i was just riding and it broke of and i had to find the handle part. i opened it up and there was shredded metal and stuff in the compartment it was in from it being worn down so much

I like the pull start but the pedal makes it wider, thanks for the video sir
He'll if I'm gonna covert my 2 stroke to a pull start, I may as well buy a 4 stroke kit. Because I would still have to widen my crank pedals.
At least with a good 4 stroke you don’t even need to pedal so don’t even need wide crank
Great tips, i intres to put a pull, start, but need to clear, room for the pedals, thanks.
Rimshop..you need to torch that exhaust pipe and bend it up so it wont hit somting and brake. cool your having fun building your bick👍
in theory with the pull start, could you do a way with the crank and pedals and just have pegs like a motorcycle??
this motor does not hab enough power to get you going from 0 mph. you woud burn your clutch super fast!
Mr. MOTORMASTER they got centfucial clutch for these kits allow you to have a dual clutch setup..
Mr. MOTORMASTER lol and yet i have no pedal and it gets me going fine

can i cut the shaft off to make it narrower is it splined deep enough to slide petal on more on each side ???
Where did you get the pull start
amazon
I have the same problem with my pedals on my bike may I ask where you purchased your kit
Ditto
When taking off the nut for the magnet, how did you lock up the crank shaft to get it from moving as you were taking off the nut ?
On my bike if the engine is started I have to be moving to engage or else I stall it. Is there a trick or is that issue resolved with a pull start? Theoretically would you even need the pedals?
Autizmo ?? Pull in the clutch to not stall it...
clutch might need adjusted in like it's not fully disengaging the engine,, tighten the flower nut 1/2 turn to see if that helps
Just let your clutch out slow and give it some gas
@@johndaugherty9133 no you'll burn it out pretty fast. not same clutch like in a dirtbike. you have to be going at least 8mph.
Slight carb adjustment. 1/8 of a turn
What brand is that ,cuz it looks like the engine I have??????
Will it fit a 110 cc 2 stroke bicycle engine??
So how's that pull starter working for you? I've bought 2 and both been junk. If it's still working where'd you get it?
how is the performance of that chain tensioner? It's an upgrade to the stock one without a doubt but I was wondering how it does for you
I have one. I LOVE it and definitely recommend it. It (for me) works so much better than the other one.
do you have to hold the clutch in to start it
Add a lock clip style lever on that clutch lever Should disengage while running.
Do you have a centripetal clutch too?
+Andrew Agustin Hi Andrew. I think you mean a centrifugal clutch but no, I do not. I use the stock friction plate system with clutch lever. Thanks for the comment.
What is the part # order info for the pull start. TIA.
Hi Rimshot. Where have you bought the wider pedal ?
I use a large pipe wrench for those big nuts and bolts
Where did you get your handlebars?
How do you start with pull string add on..?? Do you hold clutch in as if taking off and pull string
You activate the clutch for connect the engine to the wheel, while your moving, for crank it up.
With the pullstart this is not anymore necessary,as you can directly crank the engine with the rope~
Micky Knox well obviously to start the engine you cant hold the clutch in you have to pull it with the clutch engaged
I would have just heated the original Franck and bend it out slightly
Where can I get a set for wider pedals?
Post a link to the crank arms .
so do you pull in the clutch, pull start, then use the clutch as you would normally?
TomCat Xsl yep!
Hey, awesome video! Does the normal shifter do anything for the speed when your running it just on the engine? thanks!
No
not unless you have a shift kit (jackshaft to put power to the right side)
Did you engage the clutch when pulling the cord or is it locked in neutral?
Locked in neutral (on the hand grip for the clutch)
Where can I obtain wide crank for bicycle
If you install this pull start, do you still need the pedals? And make foot pegs instead
AmatuerJared I was thinking the same thing the bike might have a coaster brake
Some times you need to help the motor in an intersection ,and if the motor dies on you you can go back home ,pull start is just a "novelty"luxury item.
what size is the engine? I've heard the 69cc (so called 80cc).are hard to pull but somehow I just do not believe it.
Looks like the common 66cc 2 stroke to me.
the bigger China Girls (47mm and + piston) mostly all tend be have higher compression than the smaller ones, but you can alter that with a thicker head gasket if you had to
Do you still use this setup on your bike now I am thinking about getting a pull start setup cause it might be easier to start 66/80cc motor
Mik lalo DONT DO IT it has too much compression and you have to buy a whole new crank set!
Thanks Brother!! 👍👍👍
With the pull start do you still have the option to Pedal start?
Yes you can
Where did you get the pull start? I have the exact set up as well.
DoItForFranklin just got mine on ebay.. same kit
sand me a linke cuz my just broke sir it keep pulling hard the other way afffter affter working for so manny days fine now it can t be pulll with out rilly herting my hand
WHAT MODEL OF BIKE IS IT BRO???
do you have to have the clutch disengaged when you pull start the bike?
Sam N yes

I got mine from Bike Berry for $175. You can find it cheaper, but Bike Berry uses Affirm for payments instead of dropping the whole amount.

how far out does the pull start bulge out?
I'd say about 2.5 inches.
there there any way that I could keep my original spindle and just add one wide pedal?
Would have liked for a assembly tutorial
Will the pull start work a 50cc
I would assume as long as you have the plate on the 2 stroke that he has you'll be able to do it
Yes. That doesn't change. Pull start is disengaged.
how long did that pull start last? I've heard they r cheap and most often the rope will break, but the housing is pot metal so that's why I've avoided these...
Do you use a clutch ?
Do you need the clutch if you have the pull start
@@Jrcash03 no. But you need a pull start for a centrifugal clutch
Mine messed magneto keyway up and knocked my engine out of time now can't fix it.... ruined engine
Hey, with that new sprocket, did you have to modify your rear hub? How so?

Pull start wont last a week.
I've heard couple guys on the forum got few months out of one, tho the rope is the 1st thing to break,,
