Depends on what you want to do. The y-wing is more durable, has better sensors, a pair of ion cannons for disabling ships and a larger magazine for missiles, torpedoes, and/or free fall bombs. The X-wing has twice the lasers for ship-to-ship combat, is slightly faster, and considerably more agile.
