Well, I have a bunch of air plants and they were looking a bit sad. On watering day I happened to notice a container of fresh rain water outside...brought it in and put the air plants in it....Wow! It was like they went to a spa! Will do that again... It’s always glad to hear from you
You should get a Chlorophytum Green Orange! I keep recommending them to pet owners cause it seems like not many people know they even exist. They're non-toxic and so pretty yet so easy to take care of :)

I love that you always add how long it took you to grow your plants to a certain point! I just recently bought a string of hearts and was a bit disheartened, pun not intended, to find that it was rather small and barely strings down its pot. Seeing that yours grew so much in so little time is giving me hope!
String of hearts may be pet friendly, but pets aren't friendly to it. My cat doesn't chew on any of my plants but thinks the ends of the vines are cat toys 🤦
So ironic that you do this video, I just had a major scare in my house when 2 of my zebra finches decided my peperomia plant looked like salad! Thank goodness the plant is non toxic to animals. I am now however much more careful of what plants are in my room that I let the birds out to exercise in. Love your videos. Thanks for more ideas of what I can use in that room. ❤
“Vegan antlers “ made me giggle. Loved this! I’m not in my element when it comes to indoor gardening but I want to master it! I just moved to an urban area with my fur babies so this gave me the direction I needed !
something that i think is worth mentioning is that you don't necessarily have to say goodbye to toxic plants if you have pets! i have two cats and many plants that are considered toxic or even straight up poisonous to cats, and that's because my babies aren't the type to eat things they shouldn't be eating nor are they climbers or jumpers, so there's not a concern for them consuming the foliage or hopping up somewhere to reach at a plant they aren't supposed to reach. i placed out some non toxic plants on the floor in areas they typically spend most of their time in and then watched how they reacted to them. they sniffed at them like cats usually do and then immediately lost interest. make sure to keep the plants there for a couple of nights so you can examine the foliage for little nicks and scrapes from kitty teeth. if you have missing leaves or considerable leaf damage on the plant then it's best to stay away from toxic plant babies. if there's minimal damage or none at all, then it's probably safe to keep a toxic plant but out of reach just to start. my cat honey bee enjoys chewing a leaf of some of the plants i bring home but i'm not worried because she would need to actually consume parts of the plant to be affected by it, and even then the worst that would happen with her habits is an upset tummy or a runny poop. i've had toxic plants around my home for a few months now and both my fur and plant babies are happy and healthy!
I just bought my string of hearts. It does not exist in any garden centers here and I don't live anywhere near any specialized nurseries or plant shops, so I ordered it online through amazon and I am so relieved that it came in in wonderful condition. The packaging was amazing and while it was quite expensive for tiny two inch pot I am gonna make sure she pays off. I'll definitely be propagating her and eventually selling/giving away some rooted cuttings locally so that way more people in my area will have them.
I don't have an orbifolia, but I have fallen in love with calatheas as a cat-friendly home.. I'd be in trouble if I lived in a more arid climate, but I currently have four varieties that are doing beautifully and would happily bring in more. My largest is a calathea medallion in an 8 inch pot, and it's stunning. Definitely the best substitute I've found for those larger floor plants.

leave plants on the floor where your cats spend most of the time and stand by with a water bottle. if and when you see them trying to eat the plant, give 'em a spray! alternatively you can also lay tinfoil or double sided tape around your plants, that way your cat will become startled if they try approaching the plant to eat it!

Hi nick just saw betsy begonia on instagram where she said hoyas are highly toxic to animals.
According to the aspca they aren’t. Of course ymmv.
I recently went to Pepper’s Greenhouse on your recommendation from another video. And it was the best!!! I love your videos! Thank you for all the great info! 💚🌿
UGH!!! My 14yo void chews on my calathea when he’s mad at me. 🙄 I started blocking access by using vintage wooden screens. Everything else is on plant stands, tables, or hanging up to keep the @ssho!e away from them. 😆🤦🏻♀️
I cannot keep my dischidia ovata alive! It’s the only plant I own that gives me problems and I wish it didn’t because it’s one of my favourites.
Laura Do you grow it in soil? They don’t grow well in soil.
Oh believe me, there’s a way for my cat to reach that wall mounted plant 🤣🤣🤣
Same here..I have 6 cats & they would find any way possible to reach the plants..even if they stood one each other backs, lol.....
How would one go about to have a wall plant and not get moist damage on the wall behind the board?
Staghorn fern was my biggest fail 😢it got the worst fungus gnats infestation, tried all type of spray but it kept coming back, stressed me out
But even if you have all pet safe plants, your cat may still eat and kill them. How do you prevent your cat to have interest in plants?
Check out Betsy Begonia's video regarding how to train your pets to leave your plants alone. It's rather good.
leave plants on the floor where your cats spend most of the time and stand by with a water bottle. if and when you see them trying to eat the plant, give 'em a spray! alternatively you can also lay tinfoil or double sided tape around your plants, that way your cat will become startled if they try approaching the plant to eat it!
@@anishinaabae no need to spray your cat!!! Just aim the water stream at a nearby area to startle your cat (near their feet, side of the pot, etc) and that will work as well.
@@michelea2326 unfortunately my cats are stubborn lil babies so they had to actually be sprayed with water before they understood what the spray bottle meant.
