I LOVED this video! It's so nice to hear what you've learned throughout the years! Thank you for sharing! We all shouldn't forget that life is always in a constant movement, so we always evolve, learn, change and that's okay! As long as we accept that and embrace it, we take so much pressure off ourselves that we can just enjoy the ride with its ups and downs!
I'm 19 years old and I have started art as a hobby, being an engineering student. I sometimes feel lost or that I have started too late, but your videos really motivate me. Thanks man!
Same here, I'm entering engineering in september and hope to be able to express my creativity because that's what I'm living for; drawing and acting mostly, but when I'll have the money I wanna go further and explore every branch of art
Working towards a second bachelors in Engineering here! Started drawing again last year after not drawing for 6 years! I'm 23 now. Let's all enjoy this art and engineering life
It's never too late! My grandma started her art journey after when she retired at 30 yrs old! Her figure drawings and landscape painting is way better than mine even when I started at a young age. It's all about patient and practice and not just a number!
1. You don’t have to have all of it figured out. - it’s okay to feel lost. just chill and relax. 2. Passion is overrated. - passion is something you develop, not find. instead of trying to find it, build it. 3. Keeping moving, when you feel lost. - just keep swimming. you got this. 4. Comparison is the enemy. - stop comparing yourself to instagram artists or to anyone. you’re you. you’re amazing as well. 5. Expectations kill creativity. - don’t pressure yourself on how things or how your art should be. just go with the flow and put your best effort.
That last one, “Expectations Kill Creativity”, really resonated with me. I always have an image of how I want my work to be when I finish. But, when I am done, it doesn’t match the “perfect” image in my head sometimes. Having that happen, discourages me from making more art. That in mind, I create my best work when I just roll with whatever comes out and let go of that image in my head of the “perfect” result. This video was much needed for me. Thank you.👏
I feel like this is a tutorial not just for artists but for the people in general. For anyone, even if youre not an artist, this is a perfect video for someone stuck!

Before watching this i was feeling very down and beating myself up. Telling myself that my art is terrible and comparing myself to artists who I thought were better. Watching this made me feel so much better about myself and made me realize that I’m not perfect, no one is.
This dude is actually very useful! It sound like he actually knows what he's talking about. A lot of artist try to make videos like this but they didn't really know the right words or they didn't have experience or something but he sounds like he can relate to younger artist.
You should honestly have a million subs, even more. Keep going. Now I know at least, that it's okay to feel lost, and that I shouldn't have to beat myself up. Thank you for this, I will keep drawing. @Kesh

Hey Kesh, I’m a fan and follower from the UK. Just wanted to let you know that you are one of several people who have inspired me to take up art as a hobby (in my mid 40s) this year. I have literally started with no skills in art, and it is a tough journey. Comparison is a confidence killer. But I am genuinely very grateful for your inspiring work and your honest down to earth advice. It helps and is greatly appreciated :)
Hey Patrick, that's great! I'm so happy I could be of some use. The beginning process can indeed be a little hard but once you get the ball rolling, things are going to get much easier. Have fun and keep at it my friend!
Not an artist but clapped after a lot of points you said, and a lot of myth busting you did! This is life advice and you seem to have found it at 19, 👍
I feel like your last point especially got to me. You're so right, and I've always held myself back because of these expectations I held onto for myself. I will work hard on trying to let them go, because if I don't do what I wish to do today, when will I ever be happy enough to start?
Yours is one of the best art channels on UA-cam!!!! You are so inspiring! Whenever I feel stuck, or feel like I don't know where to head, I always find myself coming back to this channel and watch a couple of videos..again and again.!! The art, the talks, the ideas!! Brilliant man!! Since the day I discovered this channel, my perspective towards ART has changed a lot!! Thanks! 😄 For being my inspiration!!
kesh 5 tips are : 1. you dont have to have it all figured out ,its ok to feel lost 2. passion is overrated ,stop trying to find your passion instead build your passion 3. just keep moving when lost 4. comparison is an enemy ,dont compare your work with other instead compare your work with your own previous work 5. expectation kills creativity .
Thank you so much! You really have inspired me. I was feeling really lost and frustrated, because I thought that my art wasn't good enough. I'm 19 and a new artist. This really helped me out!
Good suggestions. But I would add one big one. The one I think is the most important and works with everything you said. "Expect failure, and use it to improve." Then apply every concept Kesh brought up to adapt and learn. The thing that crippled me for decades was I would try and draw something once. And it wouldn't turn out the way I wanted, so I got frustrated and gave up, only having tried to do it one time. But recently, I tried drawing the same thing multiple times. And every time I drew it, it improved a little bit. After 4-5 tries, I actually succeeded in drawing what I was attempting. It's so obvious that I feel kind of stupid now. But I wish someone had taught me this when I was younger. Don't just draw something once. Draw it multiple times. As many times as it takes to get right. Instead of getting discouraged by a picture not coming out right, just tell yourself "that one was just practice" and do another. Each time, trying to alter the parts that didn't look right in the last one. It sounds cheesy, but it works.
This actually really spoke to me. As a 19 year old I constantly feel pressured to be passionate and have known exactly what career i wanted by the time I was in high school, but I didnt. I thought it meant I was failing but your words of encouragement mean a lot, thank you 💖
Very insightful. Thanks :) You look so young that it made me chuckle when you referred to your young, newbie, 19-year-old self! You don't look much older than that, but you have gained a lot of wisdom.

I've been drawing for a very long time now, I'm 17 now and I can see my improvement. The one thing I've always wanted to learn was draw things just the way I imagine them, but whenever I try it doesn't come out well at all. It's very stressful and degrading when I see other people do it and I'm not able to myself. I haven't found my style, I don't know how people do it but I hope that one day it'll come to me. It never has, I enjoy yours a lot its quirky and simple, I really love it.
"just keep swimming" noted! Also, number 4-5 stabbed me and man it hurts! XD I'm gonna try my best to keep remembering those. Thanks for this awesome vid!
Thank you so much. I often suffer from constant anxiety of wanting to work too much and having it all figured out which ends up lowering my productivity. I really needed this video and I hope I am able to change my constant over thinking about my work.
Thanks a lot for this video. I was actually lost and I'm still lost but it troubled me a lot. After watching your video I'm really relieved. I really needed this.
Kesh you really helped me today. I have been lost and hurting, comparing myself to other artists afraid to post my work, not feeling good enough. And just wanting to br good at and know everything right now. Listening to you made me realize I've been killing my creativity and hurting myself emotionally. That I need to keep moving and stop letting myself stay stuck because I am scared of what others will think..not any more..Thank you.
Drawing, talking, editing and music. All combined made this satisfying to watch and also encouraging. I still don't know what to do at my 20 years old but this really cheered me up. Thank you
This was a great video kesh with a lot of great advice!!! Y'all don't have to agree with me on this but sometimes when you are lost you dont just keep on swimming. You stay put. Not always is continuing the right thing to do sometimes it's more helpful just to take a break

Dang this is just what I needed! Totally hit a wall creatively today and started questioning if I was good enough, but this just brightened my day! Thanks and keep it up!
I'm about to be 19, I've been drawing since I was in preschool and really tried to work at being better at around 16. I want to make it my fulltime career. I for at least two years now have been pestering myself with the problem of style, I thought without a style that is my own I will never get recognized or be valued as an artist so I've been on a hunt for a style for a long time now. I've loved many but none came naturally to me or were something I could handle with every medium I love using. Recently i got inspired by a bunch of suds on the wall of my shower after seeing a face in it, I drew what I saw and decided to embrace a style of cartoon that I had known well since I was a child. That is the most smooth, quick, beautiful thing I feel I've ever painted and it took me two days when a painting usually takes a month. It's funny that I went in a hunt for years for something I had at my fingertips since I was a kid. What I'm saying is when you pressure yourself into finding a style you may convince yourself that it's what you want when it isn't. (The style I ended up adopting and am still making my own is those 1930s cartoons, my mom gave me these on a VHS as a kid) 😁 sorry for the rambling lol
Man.. This takes me back, I love art. I love to draw. I've been drawing since im in elementary school, but when I starting up high school.. my family just start pressure me in studying (ik typical) so I study and nvr draw anything until I graduate from high school. When I go to my medical interview, I screw up. I literally in panic because I cant do anything that I want to be. After that my family suggested that I get into one of a stem major at least but deep in my heart I want to do arts. I dont care if people want to see it as unnecessary hobby. I want to do what I want. That's why I am starting from basics with the help of ur videos
Expectations kills creativity. It's really true sometimes I feel myself useless in drawing if I cant reach expectations thanks kesh I will now try my best
Man!!! You're different, I have seen many videos like "five things I wish I knew " but all of them said the same but your really the one hell of the guy
Kesh i have to say the energy you are sharing is inspiring and makes me feel a little better while struggling in art:) I knew before that struggling is a necessary alltime-thing to improve and develope passion (and experience) but hearing it again in your wwords really made it more concious to me. I really enjoy listening to these kind of speeches and your words srsly catched me :D Thanks for sharing your insights and philosphy. Greetings from germany!
I'm glad I have found your channel because it is so motivational and very helpful because sometimes when I draw I don't like how it turns out but I know I just got to try a little harder to let it be what I wanted to be and I want to say thank you and I hope you have a great day! 😊

Kesh your channel is the most inspiring art channel I have ever seen and I am sooo much better at art now after listening and waching your videos
This video was so helpful! Thank u so much! I’ll be trying to apply those mindsets as much as I can and I’m glad I came by your channel! ❤️
Quite wholesome, no frills, simple and lovely
Expectations kills creativity. It's really true sometimes I feel myself useless in drawing if I cant reach expectations thanks kesh I will now try my best
