Too expensive? They send coupons all the time and it's really cheap. Probably two small cheeseburgers and fries isn't even $5 there without any coupons.
The second you see Bain Capitol you know it goes way downhill very soon after. Also, the end sounds so good for it. Out of the four burger kings in my area, three went out of business. I figured maybe it was all some rogue bad franchise owner/s and tried some in other counties, because sometimes I feel nostalgia for the food there, and they were awful experiences too, always with particularly old stale bread. I'm unsure how it's managing to do better when, in my eyes, and anyone I've talked to, it seems worse than ever.

Mattoon residents Gene and Betty Hoots bought the successful Frigid Queen ice cream shop from Gene's uncle, Bill Paullin, in 1952.[1] In 1954, Gene expanded the business, adding hamburgers, French fries and other items to the menu. In 1957,[2] they fixed up a two-car parking garage behind the Frigid Queen, adding a grill and a counter for customers.[1] When it came time to give the new business behind the Frigid Queen a name, Gene wanted to go with The Hot Dames but Betty said that a queen needs a king, and chose the name Burger King instead.[1] In 1959, after prompting by his uncle, Gene registered the name "Burger King" as a state trademark in Illinois, and the Hootses were official owners and operators of the only "Burger King" restaurant in Illinois at the time.[1]

He had $11 pre WWII? So that was basically enough to buy a house, a car, pay for two years of electricity, buy a years worth of food, and still have money left over to play with.
Burger King also has a US Military contract. You can literally be in combat and a couple hours later order a Whopper or order your Whopper and carry it into combat.
Surprised there wasn't anything mentioned about Hungry Jack's in Australia after the conflict when they were originally called Burger King in the land down under. Sorry Burger King, there way better tasting when eating their Whoppers.
Another business in Adelaide, the Burger King Drive-In ("Service Fit For a King" was their slogan), was already operating when the American Burger King wanted to open down under in 1971. They chose to call their franchise down in Australia "Hungry Jack's," choosing to name it after Hungry Jack, one of the many American food brands once owned by Pillsbury. The trademark for the other "Burger King" lapsed by the 1990s, causing Burger King to open locations under their own name, but it led to a lawsuit between Hungry Jack's and Burger King, which, in essence, was almost like they were suing themself...
The last time I bought a Whopper is the last time I’m buying one. Unripe green tomato, the center of a head of ice berg lettuce and way too much watery sauce made it inedible.
My local bk still has you read back the order dispite the order number system. Dont really think james would be happy that bad system still operates in 2022
When I was 9 a Burger King opened 2 blocks from where I lived on the SouthSide of Chicago. It was heaven. Fast food within easy walking distance. A great place to hang out with friends. I live in Southern California and the nearest Burger King closed. There is a Habit Grill which is great.
The original Burger King is in Mattoon Illinois. You might want to revisit your history. The Hoots family started the first one and it is still in operation.
Its an extremely hard lesson to learn and live with, that if you décide to actually help those working a nine to five job everyday along with trying to take yourself to a higher financial wage setting, most likely you will be cut out of literally everything Youve ever actually come up with in one way or another-"But that doesnt mean that you should give up or actually let them forget what You've done in the process either."

Mattoon residents Gene and Betty Hoots bought the successful Frigid Queen ice cream shop from Gene's uncle, Bill Paullin, in 1952.[1] In 1954, Gene expanded the business, adding hamburgers, French fries and other items to the menu. In 1957,[2] they fixed up a two-car parking garage behind the Frigid Queen, adding a grill and a counter for customers.[1] When it came time to give the new business behind the Frigid Queen a name, Gene wanted to go with The Hot Dames but Betty said that a queen needs a king, and chose the name Burger King instead.[1]
In 1959, after prompting by his uncle, Gene registered the name "Burger King" as a state trademark in Illinois, and the Hootses were official owners and operators of the only "Burger King" restaurant in Illinois at the time.[1]
Cool 💯😎 Salute
We NEVER go to McDonald's. However we DO seesaw back and forth between Wendy's and Burger King. Do you have a good video story recommendation for Wendy's...???
We love our Burger Kings. Always a great time.
Wish Hook would always covert the $ to what it would be worth today $$$. I’m sure $11 still is not a lot.
About $232.90 today =)
Why does it matter if it's converted or not
Wow thank you for this video. I have a Burger King toy mascot and I'm happy to know their history. 😊
Heavy.
Ps Much Gratitude
He had $11 pre WWII? So that was basically enough to buy a house, a car, pay for two years of electricity, buy a years worth of food, and still have money left over to play with.
... And that was as a student…
This is literally an alternative origin of McDonald’s
Burger Kings are closing down left and right where I live. Kinda sad.☹
Yeah, Burger King is kind of scarce now. They're really tricky to find these days.
Masterpiece
love Hook
Burger King also has a US Military contract. You can literally be in combat and a couple hours later order a Whopper or order your Whopper and carry it into combat.
2 burger kings near me are AWFUL! one always LOOKS closed.
and yes I have contacted them by email
There's literally four McDonald's in my town and not one burger king . ..life is cruel sometimes
So this is the man responsible for me getting food poisoning everytime i try BK.🙄😬
Wrong - Burger King is basically a burger soaked in beef stock.
I found this video while eating burger king
This isn't a video about burger king, It's an advertisement with the burger king facts thrown in.
$11 at that time is huge. 📈💰
It's like $190 in today's money. That's huge to you?
Yes. He Values money
4:01 is where it starts.
Your returneeeeeeeedd
I've worked at 3 burger King's 2 in Detroit and 1in Virginia.
The last time I bought a Whopper is the last time I’m buying one. Unripe green tomato, the center of a head of ice berg lettuce and way too much watery sauce made it inedible.
My local bk still has you read back the order dispite the order number system. Dont really think james would be happy that bad system still operates in 2022
I've always prefered the Whooper over the Big Mac...it's just sad that they are no longer flame broiled but fried on the grill like everyone else. 😞
That dude never applied to university, he’s from the USA, he applied to college!!! USA, USA!!!
I was just recalling something about that. "The Original Burger King"
In Australia there are 440 hungry Jack's restaurants. They are burger kings with a different name . This is due to a copyright previously on the name.
