  • The kernel is modular, but... what does that even mean?!? Well, it means it's basically a bunch of LEGO blocks that get assembled into a running system every time the computer boots up. But we can switch those blocks in and out manually if we need to. And this video shows us how.
This video is part of the CompTIA Linux+ prep course.

Oh man I can’t believe you haven’t heard of imsmod!! Even though I’m complete noob and taking this course because I don’t really know how to use Linux, I know what it means. Basically what imsmod does is make all the modules in your kernel happier when you run it! it’s very similar to sending it the command of “Learn everything. Do what you love. And most importantly - be kind!”

Hi Shawn, I've been following the course, great so far! Will there be future videos on the remaining learning objectives?

Yes, absolutely. It was a rough couple months at my DayJob, but I think I'm back on track now. :)

I find it interesting that the only reference to imsmod it to the objectives, but without any context. I found one page that says imsmod and for the syntax it says insmod. what i was surprised that i could not find anyone discussing that it does not exist. everyone just glosses over it. I am glad i am not the only one that forgets to put 'grep' after a pipe.
