Been playing one for a few months. Since I'm a beginner, I only killed my neighbours! ;) I play jazz guitar and sax and though a trumpr beginner, I could tell the difference with the other models I tried.
Lovely trumpet. I absolutely love the simplicity of it. Its not plated in silver with extra flairs here & there or a huge mouth piece receiver. It looks like a trumpet because it is.
3:33 another question, are you actually able to dump out all the liquids and moisture build up in the horn through the main tuning slide spit valve by just pressing down all the valves? Do you happen to know how that's possible? I'm asking because now I can't decide on whether or not I want want a spit valve or water key on the third valve slide as well
With all the valves down the air along (with any moisture) in the slides goes thru the 3rd slide last. If that doesn't work try pointing the horn up and blow with all the valves depressed. then turn the bell so all the moisture runs out of the horn through the bell.

It’s been awhile since I’ve went out and trued new horns, since I got my new Andalucia Phase III Bb Sprano Trumpet. I really would like to see if this horn is more free blowing than the Phase III if so this horn would be a blast. I haven’t found anything in the market better than the Phase III. It also really depends on the power and discipline of the player when it comes to true fat trumpet sound.
Kevin Vignali I loved the 8340EM horn but found it a little small for my every day playing I like the Selmer Chorus 80J. Free blowing with a huge sound.
You mentioned the diagonal z-brace on the tuning slide twice, but no mention of what that is supposed to accomplish on the horn. Does it do something acoustical, or just aesthetic? Same with the rings versus hooks, does that cause more damping?
I think the "Z" brace is just a decorative aesthetic, but when I contacted Eric he told me that if you lose/ tighten the screws to the tuning slide spit valve if will change the "blow" Tighter more focused, loser more defused. Stay Tuned To The HornTrader!
I think the Yamaha Miyashiro YTR8340EM is better for playing the upper register. I have 2 on my website at the moment. Here’s the link: www.horntrader.com/search?controller=search&orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=%09Yamaha+Miyashiro&submit_search=Search
Eric M chose all specs on the horn so the 3 finger rings are there because that is his preference. As is the reverse tuning slide. Engineering wise the Zbrace would offer a bit more strength to the tuning slide when removed. He has a good interview where he discusses the design decisions of this instrument. A search should pull it right up.
U G Hi, I play on a Bach 3C for quite some time now. I wanted to switch to a bit shallower of a piece. Either the 3D or 3E. What’s your opinion on the 3D? Thanks
You can call Bob Reeves and they can look it up also by the type of neoprene pad they install that only they use. There used to be a link on the Bob Reeves Website that could do a serial number look up but was only omitted after the Website make over.

jeremmy tolentino nunjar I play with the Bobby shew lead at times and I found somewhere around a Bach 5or 7 to have a very similar cup diameter so look to change the depth of the cup. Maybe a typical 5c or 7c mouthpiece would be your next step to a darker tone.
Okay, I’ve heard dozens of Steve’s videos. This is the best sounding horn IMHO. Of course Eric has a great signature horn.
Been playing one since 2007, killer horn !!!

Interesting take on I remember Clifford.

How does the EM compare with the Xeno in terms of playability, free-blowing, slotting, etc ?
EM is a little more of a n open blow Stay Tuned to the HornTrader!

Beautiful sound in mid to lower register.
Horn Trader, how about testing the new yamaha La s Wayne bergeron mk 2,I'd be interested to see what you think.🎺🍺

Hi, I have a 8340EM, but thinking of switching to the Van Laar Chuck Findley. Is there a huge difference between this two horns? Thank you!
I think the 8340 might be a little lighter in Weight. About the same blow resistance.
Best, Steve
Hi Mr , which horn upper register is more open between the 8340em and schilke b1? Thank you very much!

What does the Z-brace accomplish and what do all of the rings versus the hooks accomplish?
To be honest with you I think it is just an aesthetic design. Makes it look different from the other Yamaha Horns.

What is a good entry level pro Yamaha trumpet and what do you think of the getzen eterna 900s and the eterna 700?
Thanks,

I say a good entry level pro Yamaha trumpet would be either a 6335, a 6345, or a 5330
