@Judy Isapunk It's not mentioned anywhere officially what the song is about. David Byrne from The Talking Heads would be the one to mention it it's meaning and he never did (at least not through ways that would be revealed via a google search). The song could be about drugs or it could just be about the crazy 80s lifestyle. The OP isn't being a troll since there's no evidence the song is NOT about people's experiences with drugs. It doesn't matter though as it's an upbeat tune regardless...one of the few things to come out of the movie "True Stories" (besides John Goodman).
It's always nice to see this Kids Inc. episode every year. Thanks for keeping the KI FANDOM ALIVE all of these years and years to come!!!! Charlie Panama City Beach, FL.
Man these kids can really rock. Brother man is gettin down too. I slept under an overpass one night when I was homeless. Sleepin on the interstate a whoa OH!
Thanks for bringing back memories. Great show, fun song. Would love to see this whole episode as well as Ryan's "audition (Tough all Over) remastered someday.
Now I’ve seen everything! Kids Incorporated singing about cocaine! It blows my mind! I’m pretty sure Mario Lopez, Martina, and the rest of the gang have some, er, memories of covering the Talking Heads hit. David Byrne must have seen this segment and gotten a few chuckles. I wonder if Kids Incorporated might have covered “Casey Jones” by the Grateful Dead. Hmmmmmm.
Very nice, I like it. They've done better in other covers but it was still good. And of course it doesn't hurt that Ryan is lead lol. You would think that at my age I'd stop being a fangirl :P ;) Can't help it though, watching KI vids and seeing my original celeb crush in a new light well ~shrugs~ it brings back a time when my life was simpler and happier. :D
The harmonies on most of their songs are superb. I can't pinpoint exactly why I think they've done better, its just something. Maybe I'm not feeling this song the way I do with a lot of them?
I feel you.kids Inc definitely takes me back to a better time too.. but sometimes it's like what Billy Joel sung."the good old days weren't always good and tomorrow's not as bad as it seems".it is kinda true..
I’m not sure if I really prefer this to the original. The Talking Heads version just had a bit more bite thanks in no small part to David Byrne’s pretty off-the-wall inflections and the overall grit from the less synth-heavy and more rhythm-focused instrumentation. I guess what I’m saying is that they took crazy groovy dance rock and just kinda turned it into a block of ice cream, all sweet and solid, but a little too smooth and easy.
More likely than not the song is about cocaine - c'mon it the Talking Heads there's no way they are just singing about nothing in particular. The lyrics are cryptic enough though that the typical viewing audience of this show would have no idea.
The show changed the lyrics that are not decent so they probably changed this one too..the show has a history of changing lyrics to be more pg..so they probably singing the pg version
1:25 is my favourite vocal part!
Really, for me, it's a great version. All second voice arrangements are incredible. Very danceable and fun.
same here, the kids doing the backing ooooooohhhhh, sounds really good
@@josephpawlowski5810 And the second voice of the melody ...
Thats true. In 1:25 the vocales are very amazing.
Nothing like a bunch of kids covering a song about coke!!! This made my day!
Well, I'm sure they knew, but did we at that age? :)
They also covered lets get Physical
Wait...this song is about....well there goes my childhood innocence.
🤣🤣🤣 Children were more innocent back then though.

Martika’s vocals make this so great.
Great cover!!!
It really was! This song really showed their cohesiveness as a band!

Martika steals the show with those background vocals.
Haha. Ryan Lambert and his "drive through" headset microphone. LOL.
Henry C Fisher LOL, never thought of that till now.
That’s how David Byrne always does it. So I guess they’re keeping with the Talking Heads tradition.

Donny Wisor Hi Donny. We will definitely keep it in mind. :-) Thanks for supporting us. We totally appreciate it!
The musical arrangements and choirs of this song improve the original. I love!
I am tripping so hard right now
That was the goal of the song lyrics. :)
Kids Incorporated Pure Success.
This is the biggest point where Kids Inc actually looked like a band
Splendid arrangement from the guys and girls, fantastic coherence and to be honest, it even exceeds the original from Talking heads
Oh,man...when we were all young!and listening to the kind of music that will be with us the rest of our lives🎵🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵
I love the way one of the girls says "okay" at around 0:05.. I've been saying okay like that to my wife all night.. sounds so 80's!
2:14 is my favourite vocal part by Martika here, love the original aswell.
It like we was waiting to hear her to sing alone all the song. But it deserve the time to hear her.
Loved all the songs they did on this special. Hope for a remaster of Step by Step and Brand New World. This was an awesome cover they did though.
These are the prodigy kids that was an exclusive field trip.
Excelente cover.
The episode when the kid, Renee, and Stacie start to have their season 4 look as they begin to mature.
i love the original but this version is better, what a great group of talented kids

Tygrfawn78 I like how this was a little sped up. The harmonies on this song were amazing!

Marvelous! But they forgot a part. “We wanna go where we go, where we go!”
Do these kids know that they're singing about cocaine

Ha! I see what you did there. :) #MonsterSquad
You should listen to it 0.9!
They seen less than impressed with the song, good cover tho.
Jermbuf14 They are sort of alluding to the video choreography.
B-52's version?
Like this version more than the original
Mario and Fergie! lol
Kids singing about cocaine... Fantastic! 😄
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
i used to think Rudy from Monster Squad was so cool. i wanted to be him lol
More likely than not the song is about cocaine - c'mon it the Talking Heads there's no way they are just singing about nothing in particular. The lyrics are cryptic enough though that the typical viewing audience of this show would have no idea.
Exactly. No editing unless the lyrics overtly referenced "adult" content (sex, drugs, etc...).
The show changed the lyrics that are not decent so they probably changed this one too..the show has a history of changing lyrics to be more pg..so they probably singing the pg version
Kids- singing a trippy song about Suicide😂😂😂😂
MARTIKA!!!!
🥳🎸🎉🤯
This is so bad but the kid in me loves their energy.
I take my comment back. Watched it like five times now. I need help lol.
Better than the Talking Heads
Thank you!
wtf
Go Fergie!
Isn’t this song about people who use cocaine? Lol
Really?
Did you know Fergie was in this
Stacey Fergeson
(Fergie about 15 later)
Truest AWFUL!
Considering Talking Heads liked it, we think it's pretty good. :)
