There is a video showing a cargo ship with multiple cars on top deck. Which was a very bad idea. At some point out at sea, the ocean water was pouring onto the cars. The salt water caused a big fire. All those cars burned.

If it's cheaper to fly to its location of sale, why not store it there while paying a specialty mechanic to start it up occasionally, etc. and then fly to your vehicle to make the trip a ~tour/an event? 🤷♂️
Yes, in many cases I absolutely would. Nowadays it is nowhere near as difficult as it used to be.
They banned "Mini trucks" in PA, probably because they thought they were a threat to the truck market. You can get a 90s Suzuki Carry truck with 4 wheel drive for under 8k, and they were even cheaper for awhile. Some even come with a damn dump truck bed from the factory. It sucks honestly
I just think it's a backdoor way to start banning older gas cars. There's no difference between a Delica and a US-legal 1980s Toyota Van, and you could use the same arguments ("So called minitrucks do not meet United States safety and emissions requirements for automobiles" is what Maine said) to start to ban any old car that doesn't meet modern standards. In the end it's all a power grab by these terrible people.
@@chir0pter PA is arguing it's an safety and emissions thing and don't want them on highways, so their solution is to completely ban them from the road unless it's titled "For Off-road use only" and be speed limited. Which is stupid because it's a 4 stroke 600cc motor and 100% creates less emissions than a similar year American truck, but they really just want Americans to buy American cars

Wow prices have gone up. In 2003 I deregistered my Beat, drove it to the Kanda ro-ro, paid about 65USD per m3 to ship it to Southampton, where I met it 6 weeks later with the bill of lading. Got it MOTd and registered the next day. Total cost was about £400 all in including dock handling fees/MoT/registration.

Instead of pulling plugs why not pull the relays for the fuel pumps or battery? I would feel better doing that then knowing they might still drive it or try and hoon it around down a few cylinders.

@@TylerTheBassCreator yeah I didn't think about that. Hopefully they also unplug the fuel injectors so the cylinder walls aren't being washed with unburnt fuel.

@Jimmy Two Times sadly I do not see the same happening for these older enthusiasts cars, especially older jdm cars. There's nothing else like them and they'll only go up in value over time like they have over the last decade
@Jimmy Two Times they'll still go up though is my point. Enthusiast cars that we all love and enjoy are not being made at all/being made the same anymore. This is why older cars are expensive. Enjoy them while they're still in the realm of affordability lol

Shipped a car across the USA this year. An absolute nightmare and one of the worst consumer experiences in my life.

I got one of my Porsches from Japan. It's a pretty big nightmare to get it registered in Australia and it cost a few thousand. The car is very good and as far as I know the only clubsport spec 928 in the country.
I used to export from Japan and Australia was such a pain that we wouldn't bother with t. The Australian government wanted proof that the cars were never wrecked or they required proof they were properly repaired. Big pain,your lucky to get your Porsche

Umm… shipping containers protect freight. That’s their job. Then the shipping container goes on the boat. The shipping container has carcinogenic paints to protect from uv, oxidation, and sea spray. That protects the car inside the container.

First time dealing with any auto transport early this year when I needed a Hurst Olds (1969) shipped to my shop for resto. I quickly decided to go with a broker rather than deal with contacting each shipper for cost, insurance, etc. While very nervous, it went extremely easy. From first contact to delivery was less than 2 weeks, and less than $1500 to ship from Lexington SC to me in southern mid TN, including broker fee. I don't know if my nerves could take an overseas shipment!

Can anyone explain why the mitsubishi delica 4x4 in some US states are having their registration revoked? what makes it non compliant for some US states? is it because some delicas have a 4cylinder turbo diesel engine and it infringes on emission regulations, because i know 4cylinder turbo diesel engines are not too common if not ever an occurrence in smaller passenger vehicles in the US. Here in Australia the Delica is a common import and very popular with backpackers, campers and enthusiasts alike.
I've been known to set an 80mph governor, 3500rpm limiter, and pull ten degrees of timing when having transmission or body work done.
I don't like taking it to people that I can't trust, but then again, who CAN you trust?

The odometer fraud in Japan is only a problem for cars that have been unregistered for a long time……if it is registered the mileage is recorded at every shaken (safety inspection every second year) by the government testing station, and printed on the title documents.
If a car has not been registered it’s generally for a reason, and usually they are left to rust in a field somewhere, the cost of parking in the bigger cities generally prevents the storage in a sensible manner.
Outdoor parking is often hundreds of dollars per month……Rule of thumb is if it wasn’t registered and maintained don’t touch it.
Agree with you, used to export Kei trucks to Canada, 7 per container. We bought from auctions and most of the trucks conditions matched what the odometers read. It was the cars the other foreigners bought that got pieced together that you didn't want to mess with buying. Most of the supercars would have really low kilometers as they just didn't get driven that much. Places like the Gotemba Sports car garden had huge collections of very low kilometer cars.

The premium cloth seats, smooth automatic transmission, incredible dampening by the suspension, and roar of the 2.5L inline 4-cylinder make for a great daily driver and road trip car. I've seen Scion tCs take on literally any Kia Soul and win, 10/10 times. I've seen Scion tCs also beat Toyota Tercels on the highway as well. It's hard to beat. Exotic importers lust after Scion tCs.
Guess I will not be importing anything ANY time soon. Rough.

There basically are are no four-door GT-Rs, unless you are talking about the very-rare Autech R33, or the even rarer PGC10, in which case neither will be anything even remotely close to "cheap".

I partially disagree about the Odometer fraud comment after spending time there. The cars have a ton of idle time and low speed time thanks to the nuts traffic that you deal with going nearly anywhere. We would drive all day and only go a few dozen Ks.

I am only able to afford the only 2022 White Mustang with the Proper 3rd Pedal 6 Manual Transmission in all California, and it's a 2022 Roush Mustang S/N: 22.0001.
