A big applause for his wife for supporting John and letting him go with his gut feeling. Seriously, much respect for her. She had two kids definitely could say sell that damn thing but no. Seems she really acknowledges his love and passion and good instinct for making great deals.
Yep, one of my exes was like that, and we ended up with an absolutely crazy cool VW New Beetle, slammed, 18", custom paint, exhaust, everything... - she got to keep it when we split, I had no use for a car and wasn't sure what I was going to do then. Still miss it sometimes because of the work that went into it, but I'd have had no use for a car then, and now much much less - I've a broken back and couldn't even get into a car without help, or drive it. Still love cars, but they are of zero use to me personally unless someone else helps me and drives it.
She was smart. If she made him sell it he would also resent it. Trusting him to make the decision at the right time paid off for them both. Trust is a wonderful thing!
Probably the best case that could've happened, he was able to fulfill a dream and got to make some great memories, it paid off financially and the car went to someone who also treats it with the passion it deserves.
It's actually called a JOTA, not a yoda. The Jota first appeared on Laverda Motorcycles of the 70's & 80's. I had a 1000 Jota that was based on an Italian engine with Japanese instruments!
John, though I've always liked/appreciated Lamborghinis...they never had the passion for me of some other brands. Until I started watching your VinWiki stories. Your passion, knowledge, and especially family connection with your father, has given me a newfound love and passion for them. Thank you for sharing your passion and your stories with us.
I saw a Jota a few weeks ago driving down the highway! It was silver/grey and purple on the outside, I knew it was a Diablo but didn’t know what a jota was. Never would’ve thought I’d see one in my hometown
I love the SE30 Jota. - My dream Diablo when I was a teenager... and it still is nearly 3 decades later! 1:21 The magazine that John is talking about is the July '95 issue of Performace Car magazine (photos by Roberto Carrer, words by Mark Walton). I bought that magazine back in the day, scanned and archived all the Jota pages before the original mag inevitably disappeared into the abyss of my past. - "Adrenalin has widened my eyes to the point where I feel as though I can no longer blink" - Remember that quote John? 😉
Beautiful story, I always love John's stories. Is great that this platform keeps letting us meet this passionate experts in the field. Thanks Ed for the channel, thanks John for the story and I hope you guys keep sharing. Greetings from Dominican Republic!
You just have to love John, such an inspiring guy! And mostly thanks to him I’m now a big fan of old cars and likely will be a curated customer at some point down the line lol
There will always come a time in a car enthusiast life where we have to choose between a house and our car. Glad he managed to keep a resemblance of something similar.
Always love the SE30 stories from John. Best Lamborghini ever - no discussion about it. But I've also watched so many of John's videos that I've become used to his language patterns. Whenever he says "insanely passionate customer," it's code for "insanely rich customer." :)
I think their customers are extremely rich even if they are not that passionate :D Have you seen their inventory ? :D My favourite pattern from him is that "we really had no money at that time" :D
Awesome story! In 2019 I sold the shares of my business to the other two partners and had a down payment for a house for my family and my new business. Sometimes it makes sense to jump at a big change, especially when you get to have your cake and eat it too!!
My parents took me to the British International Motor Show in England in 1994 and there was a purple SE 30 there. That was when I fell in love with the Diablo. Guess we both got the bug about the same time John.
I think Diablo SE30 purple is THE best looking car ever, of ALL cars ever made. There are many other great looking cars like Miura, Countach, Lambos overall, 288GTO, Lexus LC, bmw e46 m3, McL F1, F355, Esprite, SLR, 918 and so on, but this purple Diablo SE30 is No1 for me.❤❤
Im sure there are Lamborghini "historians/enthusiasts" that know more about these cars. But, I suspect they are older and unrelatable. Something approximating professors/librarians. John is the guy that every has as a friend. He has forgotten more about these cars than I will ever know. It really is mind blowing
Those Purple Diablo SE30s are one of my favorite Lamborghinis too ever since I used to read all about them in car magazines in bookstores or wherever. I did a roadtrip across the country to CA in 1997 where I saw one at a dealership in Palo Alto and they actually let me get in it and take a few pics. I still have a 1/18 scale diecast model of it. I wonder how many of the Purple ones were made ?
By the time watched 1/4th of this, I’d shared it with 4 people as a truly interesting and passionate discussion by someone who knows everything. I thought it would have 5M views and 2.5likes This will get big within the next 6 weeks
I remember the first one i ever saw (also the first time i got to ride in a Ferrari), i have a photo of it, but sure it has different front side indicators than the one in the first side picture in this video (at 40sec). Are they made with different versions? Edit: The one i saw, was in Spain, Marbella, hit me up if you want the photo and short fun story about it.
As bad as the story was and is. As bitter as the presenter was and is. As negative as the reaction to the video was. MTV might have taken offence to the telling of the story and insisted it be taken down. Similar to the Top Gear story from a couple years ago.
John should’ve kept the jota he was actually born for this big part of lambo history wouldn’t be told if it wasn’t for him and pops decades but I understand why
Ed you're the man, and I've never questioned anything you've done, but please do not endorse those element extinguishers. They do not work on anything of significants is much more safer to use a small abc extinguisher. I went down the rabbit hole on those elements. They mean well they really do but basically you'll have better results using your shirt to stop a fire.
I bought a candy bar and a lottery ticket yesterday and won enough on the lottery ticket to cover it's cost and the candy bar and felt like I was ballan out of control!

Being a filthy rich business owner doesn't hurt either.
@@RedLP5000S Doubt he's filthy rich, well off - probably, but you could be just as well off with a lawn care company.

Any story John brings to VinWiki is a story I want to listen to.
Same, I love hearing him talk about older Lambos
Both him and Ed are great story tellers
Such a great and captive storyteller.
Agreed him and rabbit are All-stars 😎
He is the goat ! I love his content
Another stop and watch immediately Car Stories guest, Thanx Ed. Love your work and passion John!
'One of a kind'
'How many did they make of these?'
'One'
Shootout to yesterday's video. Truly awesome patience
I thought “1 of 1” and “one of a kind” were pretty universally known terms😂
Biggest take away from this story is how great his wife is. Better keep that one at all costs.
Probably the best case that could've happened, he was able to fulfill a dream and got to make some great memories, it paid off financially and the car went to someone who also treats it with the passion it deserves.
I love to hear the histories of John, he seems to be a guy so humble, even negotiating cars worth tens of million of dollars!

This seems to be the week of Lambo stories and the wives behind them. Wonderful to hear that everything worked out for the best in the end.
Don’t forget about “I make $7.50 an hour and didn’t key Bams hummer after work where I get paid $7.50 an hour” yesterday
I almost skipped this vid, but once I saw John, its a must watch

Take a shot everytime he says Jota 😂
What happened to the video about Bam from the Regular Car Review guy? Went to show my wife and it's gone.
I saw that Purp SE30 when I was in Miami last week. It is absolutely stunning in person.
Jota is ultra exclusive, but the SE30 and LP640 will always be my favorite Lamborghinis ever built.
You just have to love John, such an inspiring guy!

This car still invokes the same emotions when I first saw it in a Dupont Registry mag when I was a kid. Gorgeous dream car. Great story!
John is one of the best story tellers!
Hey where’s that video from yesterday with Mr. Regular and Bam Margera? I can’t find it anywhere! 🤣

I don't know if it's John's stories, his delivery, or his cars. But he kills it on all levels!!! LoL...
