the aggression Roger played with was his greatest asset and my favourite tennis to watch - against most it shortened points and against Novak it stopped them from being insanely long as Novak is such a great defender and can then switch to offence.
best offensive tennis player ever :D He didn't have quite the grit and poise in pressure points like Djokovic and Nadal but when he was on he would just blow everyone off the court, they're just cones to him when he's in the zone
This is likely the best match Federer ever played against Djokovic. It’s a shame Roger is 6 years older. If they were the same age or closer in age we would’ve seen the true GOAT. I wonder how things wouldve turned out in the head to head had Roger not blown those 2 set points on serve in the semis of the 2011 US Open. That no doubt played a factor in their future slam meetings especially when he had the same again in 2019 at Wimbledon
@@fg92626 yeh that's why Roger then kicked his butt in a Roland Garros semi final in 2011 and a Wimbledon semi final in 2012 despite the two losses at the US Open 🤣
Javier Frana here in Argentina at espn tenis said, " if roger came in whit a good day on forehand , you will have a problem.." I think this was true. The timming and speed on his games is perfect.
Old in 2010 USO SF at 30 year olds, old at 2011 USO at 31 years old. Not old when won Wimbledon in 2012. Not old at 36-37 when picked up 3 slams during 2017-2018 when Djokovic was out the game. Old at 38 in 2019 when lost 2 championship points on own serve in Wimbledon. Meanwhile 35 year old Nadal and Djokovic have won slams beating people 10-15 years younger. Makes sense!
Yes 30 is super old. And hd happened to become old just as Novak really stepped up his game and had that crazy 2011 season. What a coincidence! Almost like the coincidence that his 'peak' era came to and when beaten by a clay court specialist in Wilmbledon.
Information in the description is wrong, Djokovic won his 1st USO title in 2011, not 2010. That year he lost to Rafa. Wonderful display from federer, if only he could've played like that against Murray :(
When Roger really is in his zone and start to attack the ball with a vengeance, I don't think Dojo will look too good. it is usually when he stay back then Dojo will wear him down.
First of all, a Fed-Djoko match is always going to grab eyeballs. So well done to the uploader, I suppose. Second: the comments section is naturally going to be a riot. The obligatory "GOATerer", "40-15", "Weakerer", "GOATkovic", "weak-era champ" are all going to be found as are a whole number of other mindless and repetitive comments. It's a pity but it's true. Given this, let me try to bring an objective perspective to the Fed-Djoko matchup, with particular reference to their HC matches. Let me note that I am a Fed fan who truly believes that the Fed is the greatest *_player_* of the Open era and accepts that Djoko is, without argument, the greatest *_winner_* in men's tennis history. 1. In Bof3 HC matches, the Fed-Djoker H2H is 13-13 (with matches played between 2007-2019). For these 26 matches, the in-match statistics *all favour Fed.* Points Dominance (PD) = 1.05, Games Dominance = 1.18, total points won = 50.8%, total games won = 51.9%, total sets won = 53.8%. In summary, *Fed leads Djoko in every one of these categories.* 2. In Bof5 HC matches, the Fed-Djoker H2H is 5-7 (with matches played between 2006-2020). For these 12 matches (all slams except for one Davis Cup), the in-match stats *all favour Djoko.* PD = 1.02, GD = 1.25, total points won = 50.6%, total games won = 51%, total sets won = 51.2%. In summary, *Djoko leads Fed in every one of these categories.* If we combine the two, the overall hard court H2H for Fed-Djoko is 18-20 in Djoko's favour. *Across these 38 matches, the in-match statistics all favour Fed,* who actually trails the H2H! PD = 1.02, GD = 1.02, total points won = 50.2%, total games won = 50.7%, total sets won = 51.9%. 3. The same holds for the Fed-Djoko matchup on grass. Fed trails 1-3 in the H2H, but here are the in-match stats, *all except one in Fed's favour.* PD = 1.04, GD = 1.19, total points won = 50.4%, total games won = 51%, total sets won = 44.4%. 4. Finally, and perhaps most interestingly, across their 50 H2H matches, Fed-Djoko is 23-27 in Djoko's favour. But here are the in-match stats for Fed. PD = 1.02, GD = 1.01, total points won = 50.2%, total games won = 50.4%, total sets won = 50%. *This case of the losing H2H player leading in all the in-match categories has got to be **_completely singular,_* especially when the number of matches is as many as 50! In my opinion, this anomaly is best explained by Djoko's ability to use his attritional strengths to get past the line - by waiting for the Fed to make a mistake or get nervous, both of which happened more and more as Fed got older and older. (The best single-match example of this anomaly is the Wimby 2019 match, which a ~ 38 y.o. Fed *completely dominated* but lost because he got nervous.)
What an excellent analysis! Goes to show how close fed-nole matches were even after fed lost his initial dominance after 2009 Djokovic is definitely the most clutch from amongst the big 3 especially on the most important points No one can argue that Federer isn't the most talented player from amongst the big 3 especially in versatality of shots and overall game Unfortunately his defense and ability to get to balls and hit winners had considerably waned but he started using his ability to shorten the points I wish you post your comment on a goatovic (username) video too who tries to undermine federer
@@spideyocd Thank you! 😃 Also, feel free to post what I've said here on goatovic's channel and anywhere else you wish to. (If you'd like to credit me, just attribute it to MKA. 🙂) The whole point of my posting these stats is to show _how completely Fed embodied the game;_ in many ways, he was both its greatest loser _and_ its greatest winner. His results didn't always make it easy to be a fan, but his tennis was from the gods. He was truly a never-before-never-again phenomenon. In that golden period from 2004-2009, Fed was the only player in _any_ individual sport to *simultaneously be that's sport greatest winner, most versatile shotmaker, and aesthetic benchmark.* That he did it in a sport as physically and mentally demanding as tennis is scarcely believable.
Finally someone with a constructive opinion! Your analysis is brilliant and very interesting. While I love watching epic matches and getting mesmerized by elegant players like fed, I also enjoy looking for stats. I am actually working on rally length calculation in order to analyse, or at least qualify, the slowing down of surfaces phenomenon. Many fans talk and complain about it but never bring anything concrete to the debate!
Look how far djokovic is playing behind the baseline as compared to now. Federer had the edge over djokovic at the US open till that loss. Signs that Federer's dominance was waning
Djoko may now be playing closer to the baseline and may even have moved closer to the basline in his later matches against Fed, but it's piquant to note that Djoko _never_ figured out a way to beat Fed on his terms. Instead, he turned into a dour, baseline attritionalist with a killer backhand, great forehand, and sublime RoS who waited for Fed to make a mistake or get nervous. If it happened, like it did more and more in Fed's later days, Djoko won. If it didn't, he got thrashed (like in their penultimate H2H, the 2019 WTF knockout match). Basically, the match was almost always (say 8 out of 10 times) on Fed's racquet, including in 2 of their last 3 matches. For proof, go back to their matches and you'll see Djoko's evolution over time into a "grinder" who gave up almost all attack for a high-percentage counter-defensive style. (In the early matches, Djoko played much more offensively and did well enough...but mostly lost.) In summary, Djoko began to win when he recognized that he not have the necessary racket skills and lightness of foot to keep up with Fed and that he could *_never ever_* beat Fed by trying to counter him at his own game, namely, , the all-court, offensive game. That kind of sublime attcking game was the Fed's domain: he was the master and Djoko (as well as Nadal) were but schoolboys. P.S: It would have been cool to have seen the free-swinging Fed of 2017 play Djoko. I think that Fed would not only have won, he'd have gained the same kind of confidence that allowed him to never again lose to Nadal outside of clay. People like to say Fed scooped two slams in 2017 _because_ Djoko wasn't playing well. To those people, I ask you to go and watch Fed's performances in the 2019 Wimbledon final, the 2019 WTF knockout match, and the first set of tje AO 2020 semis. Fed dominated all 6 sets...despite playing at a level much less than his 2017 level. Fed's 2017 level is best exemplified by his QF match against Nadal at IW, his final against Stan at IW, and his Miami semis against NK.
@MKA djokovic obviously struggled to return here because the court was so fast the penetration of the ball when it hit the surface was so fast and the bounce was lower, unlike in the slower court when the ball bounces higher and slower when it hits the slower court surface thats where its easy for djokovic to return the ball

@pants1359 ao court was already slowed down in 2011 just watch the 2007 ao and 2011 ao you will see how fast and low bounce in ao 2007 compare to high bounce in 2011 ao like it was a french open clay court

@@truthtruth9056 How about this. Djokovic at 35 would rect a 25-year-old Fed. I can make that claim, cause i know it would be the case. Fed at 25 was weaker than his 2015-2018 version. Or do you think that Weakdal was weak when he lost to 2017 Fed which was 36 at the time?? Both Fed and Weakdal won 2 slams that season, and a few masters, as good of a season as any when he was in their "prime". Also they won 2018 AO. So that is 3 slams in a span of a year, all that while Djokovic was injured. So 2017 AO, according to your theory, also his 2015 Wimby and Us Open finals, and 2016 AO SF were all flukes right. His wins over Weakdal also flukes. So to discredit Djokovic, being a little dumba*s b*tch, you are actually discrediting your own weak era champ 🤣🤣. Ok, lets count only slams won from 2008(Djokovic was a teen before that) and 2012. FedI(in his prime the entire time) = 4 slams, Djokovic(hits his prime in 2011) = 4. What do you want. You want me to count Djokovic at 17. 16. When he was a baby ?? What ?? 🤣🤣Any way you look at it Fed got dominated. How many slams in comparison to Sampras had Fed won in 2002. That would be only 0 right. And how old was he then. 21, 22. Whan did Fed start winning his slams. In 2003. Who was the competition. Aging Agassi, to whom Fed lost plenty of mathches at the start of their rivalry. Hewit. One slam wonder Roddick. I cant believe how lame and hypocritical you Fed losers are. Sure, support helps but if you think that's all that's needed to win, you'd have only Australians, Frenchmen, Britishers, and Americans winning the slams. The matter of "against" only arises when someone is deliberately calling out _during_ a point. Otherwise, it's just a matter of who gets the crowd's support. I don't say it's easy to have the crowd cheering on your DFs, but, like I said, the pros are pros because they realize they have to cope with such conditions. Also, 31 is not out of prime. Have you been keeping up with sports whatsoever? Stop living in the 70s. Most top athletes these days are good til mid 30s at least. Look at any sport. Yet you dismiss Fed’s 30s EVEN though he was still one of the highest ranked and best players, winning tournaments and majors?? At least make your argument make sense. At his peak, Roger couldn't be matched. Not just absurdly gifted, but hands down the most aggressive and complete player to swing a racquet.
the aggression Roger played with was his greatest asset and my favourite tennis to watch - against most it shortened points and against Novak it stopped them from being insanely long as Novak is such a great defender and can then switch to offence.
best offensive tennis player ever :D He didn't have quite the grit and poise in pressure points like Djokovic and Nadal but when he was on he would just blow everyone off the court, they're just cones to him when he's in the zone

When he won he is not old, when he lose he is an oldman! Classic delusional Fed fan....
He was old in wimbledon just before, got young in this match and suddenly got old again in AO next year
Old in 2010 USO SF at 30 year olds, old at 2011 USO at 31 years old.
Old from 2011 and onwards. born 1981..
Yes 30 is super old. And hd happened to become old just as Novak really stepped up his game and had that crazy 2011 season. What a coincidence! Almost like the coincidence that his 'peak' era came to and when beaten by a clay court specialist in Wilmbledon.
"He is a great mover but I have great coordination so I think we match-up pretty well against each other." Roger Federer
Information in the description is wrong, Djokovic won his 1st USO title in 2011, not 2010. That year he lost to Rafa. Wonderful display from federer, if only he could've played like that against Murray :(

In summary, *Fed leads Djoko in every one of these categories.*
2. In summary, *Djoko leads Fed in every one of these categories.*
If we combine the two, the overall hard court H2H for Fed-Djoko is 18-20 in Djoko's favour.
Goes to show how close fed-nole matches were even after fed lost his initial dominance after 2009
Djokovic is definitely the most clutch from amongst the big 3 especially on the most important points
No one can argue that Federer isn't the most talented player from amongst the big 3 especially in versatality of shots and overall game
Unfortunately his defense and ability to get to balls and hit winners had considerably waned but he started using his ability to shorten the points
I wish you post your comment on a goatovic (username) video too who tries to undermine federer
If Fed would completely dominated Djokovic in Wimby 2019 match he would win lke 75 64 63

(In the early matches, Djoko played much more offensively and did well enough...but mostly lost.)
In summary, Djoko began to win when he recognized that he not have the necessary racket skills and lightness of foot to keep up with Fed and that he could *_never ever_* beat Fed by trying to counter him at his own game, namely, , the all-court, offensive game.
@MKA djokovic obviously struggled to return here because the court was so fast the penetration of the ball when it hit the surface was so fast and the bounce was lower, unlike in the slower court when the ball bounces higher and slower when it hits the slower court surface thats where its easy for djokovic to return the ball

djokovic was punching bag of federer and nadal before federer hits age 30 and nadal became injury prone
Thats why djokovic can never be the goat
Novak was almost the same age of nadal but nadal had like 9 slams already in 2010 and djoko already went to 2007 us open finals and won 2008 ao grand slam title so this is just a proof that djoko already playing at a high level thats why the "still young" excuse dont make sense, the truth is he just couldnt handle those when those 2 are still at their best playing at a high level and djoko was 21 22 23 age in 2008 2009 2010 good prime age for tennis fed and nadal already had many grand slam title at that age while djoko only 1, this is just a proof that djoko couldnt handle those 2 when they are still at their best and djoko only started winning when those 2 declines got older out of prime and became injury prone
And djoko faced an injury prone nadal who already blow his knees and was older than him, djokovic faced the bulky injury prone nadal the version of nadal that would lose against 200 low rank seeded opponent in wimbledon since 2012-2017 that was the nadal that djokovic has faced nowhere near the nadal who went to wimbledon finals 2006 2007 and won it in 2008 2010, that was the best version of nadal who was lightning fast flying all over the court and can return any shot and federer faced and beat that best version of nadal and nadal was also able to beat federer, you cant change that facts

And from 2005-2012 their h2h in 3 surfaces
clay 12-2 in favor of nadal
hard court 6-5 in favor of roger
grass 2-1 in favor of roger
As you can see nadal only won in clay but federer won the other 2 surface hard court and grass, and if the tables were turned that if most of their matches happened in grass federer will also easily win in h2h
Now lets go to their h2h grand slam achievements from 2005-2012

GREAT to watch THE GOAT vs the third best of all time Mr. Roger federer

Dear federer fans. Federer may be in the same goat league as Novak but hes def not clearly above. This was 2010 novak that nadal beat on fast us open courts and atp finals. Also Novak has great results at Shanghai so start gaining knowledge about the sport because all these opinions are embarassing.
Times when novak had sudden breathing problems which got vanished during the uso 2010 but suddenly it got reappeared after 2 weeks in shanghai and WTF 2010...breathing problems and his allergy which he had until 31st Dec, 2010 completely got vanished on 1st Jan 2011 which is when novak entered his prime.. Bravo nole👏👏😂
if novak loses then its breathing problems ...what shit... all noletards....he was thoroughly outplayed here by roger... just accept he was not at roger's level in 2010
Doping effects not that gluten nonsens
These noletards are hilarious! So when they met in Shanghai 2014 which was even a more dominant win by Federer, dropping only 5 games, I guess the breathing problems that was gone resurfaced again...

Djokovic is better than federer on every court
Fact!
@@thenotorious2226 Question, why watch any other player! If Djokovic is your goat, why watch videos, read articles, or hear commentary on anyone other than Djokovic.
@@Azure4000 I follow tennis in general and news from the world of tennis! Federer also was a tennis player and there are still some tennis posts about him. Simply, some of the videos from this page found their way into my suggestions!
In fast court Roger is better
Not on fast courts lol 😂
40-15 can't beat novak on grass 😭
Except when he did in 2012. Outplayed him quite thoroughly...and won. And then, seven years later, outplayed him even more thoroughly...and lost. But that's the Fed for you. The greatest "winning loser" in men's tennis history.
@@thesoccergod he lost 3 finals in his best tournament to him with the full stadium booing novak and cheering him. If he hasn't had no decent opponents between 2004 and 2007, he would have less slams than sampras...
@@plantpower3048 Absolute rot...and you know it. An aging Fed was a rising Djoko's _only_ competition on non-clay courts all through the 2010s. If you think that doesn't count as evidence of Fed's unparalleled talent, then you're biased, that's all. Sure, he trails the H2H and lost a lot of important matches, but he also won a lot of important ones. Just as significantly, Djoko _never_ managed to impose his game on the Fed (like he did against Nadal on HCs). Instead, he scrapped out victories through attrition and by relying on Fed's tendency to get nervous, which only increased as Fed grew older and older.
That's not to say that Djoko isn't a great player. He's a terrific baseliner, with a killer BH, a great forehand (with some sublime angles), and perhaps the greatest RoS in the modern era, but his game has never been an *all-court, complete game* like the Fed's. Then again, _nobody_ else's has. Fed is, almost without doubt, the *greatest all-court **_player_* in tennis history. Just as clear is that Djoko is the *greatest **_winner_* in the history of men's tennis.
By the way, here are some stats for you. I wonder if you'll be objective about them or just say "weakerer" and "Goatovic" and be on your merry way. Your call. :)
Across their 50 H2H matches, Fed-Djoko is 23-27 in Djoko's favour. But here are the in-match stats for Fed. Points Dominance (PD) = 1.02, Games Dominance (GD) = 1.01, total points won = 50.2%, total games won = 50.4%, total sets won = 50%.
*This case of the losing H2H player leading in all the in-match categories has got to be **_completely singular,_* especially when the number of matches is as many as 50! In my opinion, this anomaly is best explained by what I said earlier: Djoko's ability to use his attritional strengths to get past the line - by waiting for the Fed to make a mistake or get nervous, both of which happened more and more as Fed got older and older. (The best single-match example of this anomaly is the Wimby 2019 match, which a ~ 38 y.o. Fed _completely dominated_ but lost because he got nervous.)
@MKA what ageing federer, he was 29 when he was made djokovic's bitch. You retards tend to confuse the prime of federer with weak era opponents. Federer could never find a way to beat Nadal, his h2h against him is ridiculous. Novak is 36 and hasn't dropped his level, in fact he keeps getting better and better. You will never find a novak fan saying novak is ageing lol
@@thesoccergod that’s a lot of writing to say Djokovic is better than Federer. All this talk and at the end of the day, one player won and won player lost. That is the ONLY goal.
Fed capitalized on a weak era in his prime because Djokovic and Nadal were either not on the scene yet or extremely young. As they got older, his dominance faded. He didn’t get old overnight. He won 2 majors from 2010-2016, and 3 from 2017-2018 when Djokovic was injured.
Novak Djokovic GOAT, simply as that! You may like Federer and be your favorite player I respect that, but no one can deny the fact that Novak is the GOAT objectively...
