- SHOCKING footage shows the moment a bridge collapse and vanish in "apocalyptic" Brazil floods which killed at least 32 people.
The death toll is expected to rise as 60 people are reported missing in Rio Grande do Sul while the state suffers "its biggest disaster".
Footage of the calamity shows cars and cows being swept away by the raging river as buildings and roads crumble.
Debris and ruins of collapsed houses can be seen floating in the river as damages are estimated to be at $20million.
At least half a million people have been left without power and clean water across the state after a hydroelectric dam burst, sending a 6ft wave and causing more panic.

This is the worst situation I've ever experienced. I'm Brazilian, living in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where the floods occurred. It's like a war zone; I've never seen anything like it. Unfortunately, the situation doesn't seem to be improving. Brazilians themselves haven't opened their eyes to this reality yet. While Rio Grande do Sul is underwater because of the floods, on the same day, the state of Rio de Janeiro was celebrating Madonna's concert. Many news reports and spotlights were on the singer, while such a tragedy was happening. Now that the hypocrisy is over, I would like to know if the singer will at least make a donation to help these poor souls. She received more spotlights, more attention from the Brazilian media than the tragedy that devastated an entire state. I hope that other countries, like the USA, speak up and expose the hypocrisy that many Brazilians had to witness in the face of such tragedy, because the American media talked more about the tragedy than the Brazilian media talked about Madonna.

Reality: It wasn't among the most developed brazilian states. Actually, besides the Serra Gaúcha and Porto Alegre, the rest of Rio Grande do Sul is full of a bunch of small farmers that lives in poverty.

I'm from Rio Grande do Sul and what you said is not entirely true, we have numerous industrial companies in the metal-mechanical sector and a giant furniture hub, some of the largest industries in the country are from the state. In my city alone we have three industries in the mechanical sector that are of international size, we produce around 80% of the country's rice, it is a very rich state with little return on federal government funds and with a bad internal pregnancy. Yes, there is poverty, but there are not just two rich regions, you can't just trust history books and television stations, you need to see reality up close and talk to local people. This happens because in Brazil, China, India and many other countries where it rains heavily, people in their desperate search for land are building increasingly closer to rivers and watercourses in a disorderly manner. I'm Brazilian and I can say that given the size of the tragedy it's a miracle that not many people died, I say this because I live in São Paulo and every year this happens in the summer and a lot more people die than in Rio Grande do Sul.
I'm from Porto Alegre, where the flood hit, and besides the flood, the city has almost no running water to drink or shower, no lights, and we're suffering from extreme violence. Criminals ares stealing Volunteers boats in order to rob people who left their houses. I've never seen something like that.

I live in the Amazon, state of Rioraima, for 6 months we went through a severe drought and a lot of smoke. In fact, all the rain that was supposed to have fallen here, for some reason, fell in the south. This tragedy is sad.

The reality behind the disaster here in Brazil is actually this:
- Mainstream media here took 3 days to start really talking about it;
- The absurd reason for that is because Madonna was going to make a show on Sunday;
- For 2 days, Madonna's show had BIGGER COVERAGE than the disaster;
- Madonna's payment was around 5% of the entire initial financial support sent by the president;
- News about the tragedy only started pouring on mainstream media on Monday, and it was immediatelly turned into an explorable resource by the media;
- The armed forces and local, state and federal law forces took way too long to act and were absolutelly unprepared for the situation;
- The amount of troops that were initially sent to the stat was laughable, so was the financial support sent;
- The population's efforts were responsible for the vast majority of rescues and donations;
- One of the most famous mainstream newspapper in Brazil posted a charge saying the victms "couldn't cry, or the flood would be worse"
-The president only stayed 3 hours in the state, and twice he showed incompatible attitude towards the peole (one by joking when he arrived, and other by laughing when deciding the state joint operation name);
- Famous and influencers were solelly focused on Madonna's show and just like the media, come monday they flocked to their social networks to "pay their respects" to the victims and the people
- The state is fining trucks that are bringing food and supplies because they were overweight and/or because there was no receipt for the donations;
- People that had boats or any kind of water vehicle were PROHIBITED to help;
- The president REFUSED international help offered by Uruguai;
- Military and rescue forces from other states are being prohibited to help;
It seems like the only continent not affected by rain flooding is Antarctica!

The forest is not the mai problem, the problem is all the CO2 Europe, United States and now China have been dumping into the atmosphere for more than a century now. All this rain comes from a wet "air river" comming from the middle section of the atlantic. We are also going through a heat wave in central Brazil, the heat dome have stopped the progress comming from the antartic right above rio grande do sul, and the humid air from the air river is dumping humidity on it, creating a worst case scenario.

I'm not a person who personally visited ur place but from media only i came to know that the extensive rainforest is nearing it tipping point , i don't know how true this is! But in front of extreme natural incidents like this forest couldn't help us in many UA-cam videos portraying that the rainforest is cleared in Brazil extensively for soy bean production, dairy farming, etc and it releases the carbon again back to the atmosphere and acting as a catalyst for worst scenarios like this literally all over the world!! In southeast Asia now severe heatwave combined with dry spell of more than 6 months induced by el - nino event and entire southeast Asian countries spanning from India to Phillipines facing the drought like brazil went last year and strongly believe that the upcoming asian monsoon season wreak havoc in asian countries like the ongoing wet season did to Brazil .
