What do you guys think of the design?
Hey Justin just wondered if you knew how to find those on the eBay my friend that works at general motors is pretty interested in finding out who selling those wheels General Motors does not sell things like that they usually get destroyed and he said more Likely someone stole those from General motors
Great looking style. This company makes those for the Fords. Those are the basic simple spoke style...plain but efficient. They will likely be around $12.000+ but part of a package. I can see a fully optioned Z06 as a pretty penny. Then again...so was the C7 ZR1....
Lightening the rotating unsprung weight helps you times 3. The lighter wheel is less weight to accelerate “lightening the car”. The weight of the wheel has to also be accelerated rotationally, so this will also help acceleration, less rotating inertia. A lighter wheel is also less mass for your suspension to move, this makes the ride better, and grips the road better. So light wheel can make a big difference. I just wonder if a good set of forged aluminum wheels is close to the same weight at less cost?
I am not saying the Z06 will have the AWD package... BUT 20 x 10" wide wheels and tires can put down a LOT of 'extra' HP if called upon to do so! With 40% weight on the front, it can make a Huge difference to have 150 to 200 HP there when you have 600 HP or so on the rear. Even if it does little more than remove the 'rolling resistance' and drag created by large, wide rubber on the front, and to assist in Steering direction changes -- similar to how FWD cars 'pull the front of the car' in the direction you want to go -- to prevent 'plowing' and under-steer. I can't imagine how much BIGGER you would want on the front of the car. It would simply require a bit of math to calculate wheel rpm differences front-to-rear to match speed... The AWD NISMO GT-R has same diameter wheels, but an inch wider in the rear, so they are definitely planning more traction for the rear, even though That car still has Front Engine... Not 'arguing'... just thinking out loud... (smile).
There is no real data connecting these wheels to the new Z06, so this is all assumptions. What we do know is 300 units have to be produced with the C8R engine before the end of next year to comply with IMSA regulations, so we know the new Z is close. I too hope these wheels hit the new Z, but waiting to see if they make the final product.
With a GM part number, visible wheels on a C8 Z06 that look to be the same style, and an "inside source" stating the Z06 will get carbon fiber wheels, I think it's a pretty safe bet the C8 Z06 will get them. My only concern is whether they will end up looking like this by the time production begins.
HorsePower Obsessed Apparently you have NOT read the title of your post! The picture says “Carbon fiber wheels confirmed!” and the title says “Z06 Carbon fiber wheel option confirmed!” You typed it at least twice. Again, I love the content just dislike the CONFIRMED crap.

Carbon Fibre wheels are a beaut track day option, and that's the only time I have them on my vehicles.....at the track. For daily driving, a good set of forged aluminium wheels is a better choice. Because realistically, most people can't afford thousands of bucks to replace their wheels when one splinters when they hit a pothole
Yeah. Carbon Fiber is great for the track but they're very brittle. They won't literally explode but they'll fly apart. Americanmuscle.com does a video where Stephanie drag races her mustang and the carbon fiber driveshaft she put on damn near flies apart into dust dang near.
Given that the meth heads at my local GM dealer can't even change a tire on an aluminum wheel without scratching the shit out of it, this should be interesting.
Lionel Runingen it is due to the material used in brake pads. The copper used in the brakes causes brake dust that runs off and causes significant environmental stress. They are no longer using copper in their new pads but the new ones will get worn out unnecessarily quick by the slots/holes. It is California in particular that is pushing for this, so they are accommodating that
My tire buster at Discount can't wait put some hydraulic tire changer machine damage on these when the slicks go on, "It was like that when you brought it in!!!" Just sayin. Nice vid.
GM needs to start making their own braking systems in-house to include the rims of exotic materials such as carbon fiber and ceramic. Economy of scale they could use on more vehicles other than the Corvette and make it more mainstream. I can remember when only high performance cars had ABS and only luxury cars had rear sensors and cameras. Now, they are mainstream.
I think they will be only a year behind just like C6 and C7 I did try and find these wheels on EBay. I was curious how much. Maybe I’d put them on my 2019 ZR1 👍

Nice video 👍🏻 I like the investigative work 🕵️♂️ Always exciting to see different leaks come out before the car is officially out . I currently have a C6 Z06 and a C7 Z06 , I might have to pull the trigger on the C8 Z06 when it comes out. Keep the great content coming ...
Beginning to think the Z06 should of been released at about the same time as the base model. So people could see the potential of the C8 platform. Some just see a base model and are not impressed. the Z06 will wow everybody
No car manufacturer bring their high-performance variant out at the same time as the base model, look how long it took Ford to bring the GT500 to the public, after the base Mustang.
It's definitely strong enough. It's used in all kinds of high end race cars. With that said, not too many race tracks have massive potholes so you'll still want to steer clear of those.
@@zorro8027 I never would have thought the stuff was that tough. Some years ago I shot at point-blank range with a .45 ACP an old steel car tire rim and the thing wasn't even scratched. Amazing to think this fiber stuff could be *that* tough!
Seriously though, does GM know about some Corvette demographic wage increase that no one else understands? The 444 base model Corvettes being built today range from $67K to $101.5K. There is no way this pricing will outsell the C7. The Corvette's new value proposition seems to be exotic performance at exotic prices.
Sorry but no way that's a full carbon wheel. GM is famous for doing chrome clad wheels, this to me looks like a carbon clad wheel on the front face of the wheel. This wheel is aluminum, look at the back of the spokes, around the hub and lug holes. That's raw aluminum that is silver or possibly painted white. As far as the back of the barrel, it's not carbon either. It's just painted black and it's just scratched to hell. It's totally possible that this is a factory C8 test wheel from GM. Maybe they are trying different wheel sizes/diameters to see what works best for the Z06. Now I could be wrong and this is just my opinion so mileage will vary and take it with a grain of salt. But just calling this out now.
I like the idea of a carbon fiber wheels but i really dislike this particular design i hope they offer something much more unique and aggressive , i mean the c7 z06 wheels they are beautiful
I had to get corrected too. The C7 Z06/ZR1 have 12” wheels with 13.19” (335mm) tires. If the C8 has 13” wheels, that means 355mm (13.98”) tires. 👀 OMG!
21 x 13 rear wheels...wow Move over Dodge Viper. This thing gotta have TTurbo's putting power down. Justin, if you listen closely enough in the Z06 canyon video. When it's decelerating into the turn about to accelerate, it sounds like it might have a turbo that's been muffled to a degree.
Hey man I really enjoyed this video! The C8 is my favorite car and with you supplying information on it to me and others if great! I really appreciate it. I was just wondering if you could help me grow my channel be giving me a shoutout so, one day, I can own my own C8. I hope you have a good day and see this comment! Have a good day!

I am pretty certain that if Chevy follows the pricing for the C7 that the C8 Z06 will start at 90k before options and max out around 150k. The wheels being made by carbon revolution are definitely carbon fiber all the way through, not hydrodipped. That means you can count on them being pricey!
That shit is an aluminum wheel with a carbon hydro dip or fake carbon plastic cover. Carbon fiber wheels are extremely expensive and gm isn't going g to put something like that on an every day driver car.
So how long do you think it will take for a few UA-camrs to spend the money on this wheel option, just to remove them the second they get the car? Haha!!

Exactly why you don’t be like everyone else, and hop on the Z51 C8 Vette. Wait for the better version to come out, and then hit that debt for life button!
In my case, I'll be doing both!
Thank you!
Beginning to think the Z06 should of been released at about the same time as the base model. So people could see the potential of the C8 platform. Some just see a base model and are not impressed. the Z06 will wow everybody
It looks like it could end up being pretty close with how many leaks we're getting recently.
@@HorsePowerObsessed hope you are right
🤞🤞
No car manufacturer bring their high-performance variant out at the same time as the base model, look how long it took Ford to bring the GT500 to the public, after the base Mustang.
99.5 Percent so precise 😂
Lol it might be closer to 99.6!
Maybe the white barrel of the rim is similar to the carbon package gt500 wheels to protect the carbon from the brake heat
Could be. I was thinking it's for strength but it could be heat protection, too.
Wow this is gonna be huge...and priced to match haha.
Yup!
Can’t wait for the Z06 to drop. Now I just need to win the lotto to pay for it
Is this fiber stuff really strong enough to handle such stress (or are they more like a-fixed hubcaps..?)?
Michael Melling
It is more than strong enough. Don't let "fiber" mislead you.
@@HorsePowerObsessed I learn something every day, thanks!
OMG! I hate when I lust over material things, but damn... I am lusting fur shur!
Agreed!
Anyone think GM put these carbon fiber wheels on ebay themselves to create buzz?
I do, Corvette team leaks small things to stir up interest.
There's no Cup 2 for a 21 x 13.
There is a 355 r21 MPS4S at $900.
I would imagine it's going to stick with the 4S tires this time around.
@@HorsePowerObsessed
I guess you'd need separate financing for the tires/wheels if not. The ebay ad said $5000 retail so $9000 wrapped in 4Ss. lol
@Qualified Automotive Solutions
Oh no flat tire, quick, switch it to the warrantied side!
Seriously though, does GM know about some Corvette demographic wage increase that no one else understands? The 444 base model Corvettes being built today range from $67K to $101.5K. There is no way this pricing will outsell the C7. The Corvette's new value proposition seems to be exotic performance at exotic prices.
Some dealers are already taking deposits on the ZO6
They popped up on eBay and they probably came off of a C8 Z06? So they are stolen and being sold on eBay? 🙄
Who said they were stolen?
When you think this car can’t get any cooler 😍🔥
I was hoping this was going to be an option and now that it is, I know it's awesome!
It would be nice if economy of scale would kick in on carbon wheels. $1000 per wheel would be nice.
@@f1hotrod527 too expensive
It would be cool if GM was dropping teasers by making fake ebay ads for parts. Like an artist dropping an album without warning.
Ya never know!
I cant wait and you can bet I'll be getting the carbon fiber wheels on mine
Agreed!
Cool wheels! And the rear ones are the same size as the Aventador SVJ!
Wow! That means great things for this car!
It’s definitely going to be wider to fit that wheel. Sorry all my northerners with rough roads. This option not for you with those roads.....
Challenge accepted!
20/21 wheels aren't really that "massive" these days
The width is more what I was getting at.
@@HorsePowerObsessed good point i agree
I like the idea of a carbon fiber wheels but i really dislike this particular design
i hope they offer something much more unique and aggressive , i mean the c7 z06 wheels they are beautiful
Agreed. I'm not 100% sold on the design myself, but these may just be a placeholder for now. A proof of concept. The design could change.
@@HorsePowerObsessed lets hope for it 🤞
They look a lot more interesting than the typical style that Carbon Revolution makes...like those on the Fords...made by them.
I find it interesting that these ZO6 carbon fiber wheels wound up on eBay of all places
I feel like everything ends up on ebay at some point.
@@HorsePowerObsessed maybe but some brand new unreleased ZO6 carbon fiber wheels?..... hahaha!..... That I think is stretching it!
Luke G Oh, come on! Everything on eBay is legitimate! How dare you question this CONFIRMED report!!! CONFIRMED, CONFIRMED, CONFIRMED! 😉😉
I hope that it is beyond the cool factor and a genuine attempt to keep the car as light as possible.
I had to get corrected too. The C7 Z06/ZR1 have 12” wheels with 13.19” (335mm) tires. If the C8 has 13” wheels, that means 355mm (13.98”) tires. 👀 OMG!
Exactly! Crazy, isn't it?
21 x 13 rear wheels...wow Move over Dodge Viper. This thing gotta have TTurbo's putting power down. Justin, if you listen closely enough in the Z06 canyon video. When it's decelerating into the turn about to accelerate, it sounds like it might have a turbo that's been muffled to a degree.
Could be
I hope it's TT myself, but the current rumors say it's not going to be. They are rumors so there's no guarantee but they've been right before.
I see rumors both ways on the forums. It will be twin turbo. 705-750 HP. All small details pointing to it.
They do look similar to the ones on the car hauler. They may have just spray painted them white to hide the carbon fiber. Good job spotting that.
Thank you!
There's nothing wrong with more meat to the street! It's a win-win with performance and looks. Great upload Justin! Save the Wave🙋🏼♂️
Thanks, Peter! More contact patch is always good for getting the power down.
Awesome man, I'm glad you liked it!
Are THESE the wheels that were STOLEN from the Black C8 in some Exec's Driveway..? (Laugh) !!
No. Those were base model wheels and not carbon fiber.
These don't look like real carbon fiber wheels to me
I'm curious what carbon fiber wheels look like to you then? These are made by a company known for making carbon fiber wheels and they straight up have a carbon fiber weave throughout the entire face. I'm not sure what else it needs to have to be considered carbon fiber wheels... 🤷♂️
Has anyone verified the tire sizes on the C8R?
@U Tube Surfer I was curious. Thanks...
Well, I'm in 3rd, but it's good enough for the Podium.😊 I'll be back after obtaining a beverage of choice.😉
👍👍
You were in fourth when I read this so I gave you a thumbs up, maybe that will help.
@@jasonrhodes9683 There must be something wrong with youtube's clock.😊 I'm sure I won No.3 by a thumb nail. I'm calling for arbitration, but I'll take all the thumbs up I can get. Thank you.🙏🏼
Can you say $150,000
Easily. I think the Z06 will start with a base price of 90k and especially after the Z07 package you are pushing into 150k for sure.
Imagine the "COST" of hitting a pot hole. Real stupid. Don't buy them unless you are stupid or or have lots of stupid money you don't care about.
Or unless you want insanely awesome light weight wheels. 🤘😎🤘
295 up front 335 rear.. it’ll definitely have “dat ass” look :) can’t wait
The C7 is using a 335 width rear tire with a full inch less wheel size. This will likely be 355 in the rear.
@@HorsePowerObsessed C7 ZR1 has 19x10.5 front wheels compensating for more weight on the front and track capabilities with the same 285/30r19 tire size. Also would want a 10.5 inch width wheels and 295's for the non track pack C8 ZO6 and 11 inch width wheels and 305's for the track pack considering the 13 wide rear wheels and 355's for track use(the rear engined new Porsche 935 based on the 991.2 GT2 RS has 11.5's up front and 13's in the rear implying a 40mm tire width stagger and Ferrari Challenge Series(Road based race car) have used a 50mm tire/2 inch wheel width stagger. The Koenigsegg Jesko has 20x9.5(265/35r20 front tires) and 21x12(325/30r20 rear tires) with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup R tires on the track oriented variant, despite having 1600 PS with E85, but weighing less than C8 Z06 probably would. Also without offical information this set of wheels could be a test set before the C8 Z06 development team has settled on the final tire and wheel sizes. I would much rather have balanced front and rear grip than have the widest rear tire/wheel possible, considering that a front 295 or 305 might be to wide to have a decent turning circle given that this is sill a street car.
Chevrolet would have to be insane Not to make carbon fiber wheels at least an option for the new C8 Z06 platform !
Agreed!
Awesome to have cf wheels, sadly I think those wheels are ugly
Wait a minute, hold the phone. "Very likely?" What happened to "grain of salt?" 😕😊 Fnally a 13" wide rear wheel. I've been saying that GM should have done this starting with the C6 ZR1 and continue to use that width with the C7 wide-bodied models. But 21" and 20"? WOW! I like it!
I'm throwing grain of salt out the window because of how all this stuff is lining up. I'm convinced!
Hey Justin what do you think base will be on this BEAST!KevinOttawa, CanadaGot my TPW May 11 !!!! Maybe those rims were hydro-dipped ua-cam.com/video/FIpuYCpiXoU/v-deo.html
I am pretty certain that if Chevy follows the pricing for the C7 that the C8 Z06 will start at 90k before options and max out around 150k. The wheels being made by carbon revolution are definitely carbon fiber all the way through, not hydrodipped. That means you can count on them being pricey!
I'm sure the wheels have been bought by now??
The auction was reportedly pulled down before they sold even though it says "sold" on the ebay auction.
The mustang 350r has carbon fibre wheels standard
Yes, and the price is significantly higher than the normal GT350 because of it.
HorsePower Obsessed yea and I’m sure the zr1 will be standard with it too
That shit is an aluminum wheel with a carbon hydro dip or fake carbon plastic cover. Carbon fiber wheels are extremely expensive and gm isn't going g to put something like that on an every day driver car.
So how long do you think it will take for a few UA-camrs to spend the money on this wheel option, just to remove them the second they get the car? Haha!!
I wouldn't remove them. 🤘😎🤘
Why would they remove them
@@preston3698 because they will put different rims on to try and stake the claim that they have the most bad ass custom C8 Z. Watch....there will be a shit load of these rims for sale with in a month of the Z's getting delivered with them.
Did the wheels come from the knucklehead who parked on the street overnight in Detroit? If I stole them, I would claim "never mounted!"
lol no those weren't carbon fiber wheels.
This car is a conspiracy
This was a phenomenal video! Let’s hope other Corvette UA-camrs try and stay original for once and not try and steal your material as usually. Geez! 🤬
🤣🤣🤣 We'll see...
First, let me say I am a very straight man, but sadly I had uncontrollable wood the whole time you were talking about my C8 ZO6.....LMAO
