Vandenberg Launch Compilation

- This compilation was put together at Vandenberg AFB in the late 1990's. It features Delta II, Titan II, Atlas II, and Titan IV launches.
The music is Dvořák's New World Symphony (4th movement) and Richard Strauss's Also sprach Zarathustra.
I couldn't resist leaving in Lt. Col. Paszek's commentary at the end.
I was stationed at Vandenberg AFB for 4 years. I was able to tour a few launch facilities. My favorite launches were just as the sun went down. The twilight phenomenon was amazing!
Great video! I live near Vandenberg and watched the Delta IV Heavy launch this january. Rockets are so inspiring!
Who else is stoked for the Atlas V launch this Thursday? =)
great vid! I was a member of the Delta II Launch Team at VAFB from 1986 to 1997.
To you guys who've said they worked on the Delta series: I appreciate this stuff, and NASA deserves far more recognition and prestige than they get in today's media/politics.
La NASA hizo famosa al Delta II😎👍
Really great compilation, love the video. Tomorrow I'm travelling to Vandenberg to view a Delta II launch. COSMO-SkyMed (3), hope to catch som nice pictures as well!
Hopefully someone can make an HD version of this
The Titan IV high speed footage was shot on film and could be done in HD bou'd have to get the original film and scan it. Some of it was definitely shot on SD video. I wish I had the digital master for this compilation but the last place I saw it was on a Jaz drive in a file cabinet in the building 8500 media lab about 28 years ago.
Guys! My husband worked for Lockheed martin for 25 years and problem sat at the control panel for launching the Atlas.
All of the clips chosen here are amazing, but I'd have to say the best moments are seeing the TItan II staging with such (relative) detail, and the Titan IV payload fairing separate.
Then again, I have a thing for the Titans, so, naturally those very unique views would be my favourites. Needless to say the close ups of the Titan IVB are beautiful in their own right.
Both songs are equally tasteful choices. I wish constellation wasn't cancelled. My hopes for human space travel have pretty much been squashed for another 50 years, at least. By Americans, at least. :/
Hopefully we continue to take advantage of these heavy lift platforms, although I hope commercial space travel extends beyond orbital operations, although that seems unlikely at the moment...
Does the Jaws theme sound very much like the musix in the beginning of this film?
I'm guessing the T4B launch videos are those of B-24. Correct me if I'm wrong.
The first launch "Delta II" is from Cape Canaveral, not Vandenberg
Who’s performing the Dvorak section?
Maybe the Vienna Philharmonic? The CD belonged to one of the blue suiters working on the video and I remember I got a look at it but this was like 27 years ago.
Rockets are even cooler when they DON'T blow up!
No rocket launch failures makes a spaceflight accomplished. :)
EPIC WIN!!!!
I feel like you should do a remastered one for the current rockets at Vandenberg or one for CCSFS, I hope you can! If you can’t, it’s fine too.
Wish I could! I haven't worked on base since 2005.
@@n1vg man, only thing I remember of CCAFS is seeing SLC 41 when I was a child in the Atlas V era but no rocket there back in 2018 on my bday.
Also, I mainly like the Dovak playing on the Titan 2 launch at 0:44!
@@EricKNYShinzoOCHudson I spent about 10 days at CCAFS installing range scheduling software but unfortunately never got to see a launch there. Or even a stacked rocket.
@@n1vgoof, but which pad sites did you see and which Rocket era for these pads? Like the Titan Era SLC41?
@@n1vgOne more thing to ask, is it fine if I reupload this video on TikTok or no you won’t allow it?
Czech republic cannot into space.
Wasn't that also the music for jaws? at least the beginning, very fitting with those teeth on the first rocket.
Next stop: Space!
Does the Jaws theme sound very much like the musix in the beginning of this film? Btw, what did he say at the ending?!
Most of these are CCAFS....
Did anyone see UFO's inspecting the rockets?
If you enjoy this vid, by the way, you'll enjoy this...
High Quality Delta II onboard and disposed booster launch cams. Great stuff.

Ironic....Czech music and US cold war rockets. Mmmmm...a suggestion of where we were headed at the time maybe?
Why the commie music? You must like trump.
Why?
huh ???
Who's playing the Dvorak part?
