I dont believe in pot committed. To shove all in on a bluff to an opp is super strong and ppl know that. It can and does get folds. But honestly he need at least one spade in hand to make that play. Like maybe maybe 10 could've been a spade that way it reduces the odds of your opp having 2 spades in hand
He probably didn't know how much he had behind. He still had showdown value, so I don't see the value of bluffing here. Also, there's no way he can call here. The best he can hope for is his opponent has a hand like 9's with a spade, but even then he's hardly getting the odds to call. He has to be more concerned that he's drawing dead.
I've been playing myself for over 10 years (also cashed at WPT, EPT and similar events.. also went out on the bubble at a WSOP Europe), so i understand poker terminology... "the nuts" means the best possible hand, given the open cards on the table.. the hand that nobody can beat (even when not knowing the hand that the opponent holds). In many tournaments it's even illegal to check back (or only call with) the nuts when you're the last one to act. In this case the nuts is not the Ace-high flush, but the 6-7 straight flush.. That the commentators mean it's the best hand because they can see all players hole cards is a different story, but that still does not make it "the nuts".
@@alanchang5857 you're right, the nut flush is the ace-high flush, because a straight flush isn't considered a regular flush.. after all a straight-flush beats full houses and quads.. had he said "the nut flush", then this would be absolutely correct, but he just said "the nuts" and that's where i disagree with him, because there are two straight-flushes that can beat his hand (the third one isn't possible, because he holds the ace, so a wheel-straight-flush is something the opponent couldn't have)
First hand the announcer keeps saying he flopped the nuts but A high flush was not the nuts which would have been 6 7 of spades for the straight flush. Charles was still very vulnerable on the turn since that opened up possible full house and quad possibilities.
I've noticed that most players and announcers will call the A high flush the nut flush every time even on a paired board or when there is a possible straight flush out there. It's not accurate, but it is common.
It doesn't matter if it's an easy call or not. The point is the fact that the player failed his check-raise. That's the entire purpose of this video...

I was thinking that too. I suppose if he thought it likely Ubaid had an overpair then a 10 or higher on the river could put him in a tough spot. It was definitely a safe play, but it makes sense given the size of the pot to avoid any sucking out.
By going all in he locked his opponent out. He got a major chip lead and didnt have to show. Now nobody knows if he had a winning hand, or an all or nothing bluff. Some players want to hide their playstyle, so the less hands you need to show, the better
Because he thought Ubaid would be pot committed on anything that has outs. Only a total bluff (which Ubaid had) would be able to fold in that spot.
