It was about April 10, 2020 I went into hospital feeling very ill. Was in for 5 days. Thought I was in BIG trouble. The date of your Vlog #8 brought back so many memories for me. You looked a bit sad in #8. Hope you are in a much better
place now. Your pen and ink reviews. journaling comments, and in general the atmosphere of each segment you present makes me very happy to see you. As a teacher you can rip my sentence structure apart. Just trying to get the idea to you about how happy you make us feel doing your videos. I got a Parker Duofold Junior for my 11th birthday in 1956. A Parker fountain pen was the only thing I wanted. I still have the pen. It works perfectly. I use it constantly. My dad went to the shop with me. It still plays in my head as a happy time.

A BENEFIT YOU HAVE IN MAKING THIS VLOG IS GENUINELY BECAUSE YOURE SOOO SWEET! PEOPLE GRAVITATE TOWARDS THAT. ESPECIALLY IN THIS SEASON. BELIEVIE IT OR NOT SOME CAN CONCUR THAT WE CARE ABOUT YOU. THERE MAY BE SOME THAT KIND OF CRUTCH ON YOU BECAUSE WHERE THEY ARE THEY DONT HAVE THE LUXURY OF BEING AROUND PLEASANT PEOPLE (LIKE YOURSELF).
TMI but I dont care: when I get the blues or get " bloody my hands from punching the concrete wall" angry i know I can go to your journal video where your intro is of you slowly rising from the journals. that's so calming to me.... It never fails to see you do that for me. Some ask why are you so smiley for???...... I have my reason. ;)

YASSS GIRL... SEE?... You did it.. That's vlogging. You just "share", "hangout", talk to me, show me...and I/we listen, live vicariously through your experiences, your daily life, your edited clips and chosen music. You did great. I LOVED it! It was calming and you took my mind off of the negative. ♥️♥️♥️

I think you hit just the right tone for this. It was like we were each sitting in our houses chatting through the open windows. This whole whack-a-doodle situation we’re in is allowing (forcing?) us to appreciate the simple pleasure of another person’s company. No frills, no distractions, just one-on-one human interaction that we’ve somehow lost along the way. Hope we can do it again :).

I'm agreeing with everyone else in the comments that this was great, and definitely something we want to watch/listen to. I think a large part of vlogs is getting to see bits of people/their lives, seeing how they are different to us, seeing what they do that we love - and that's something we're all missing out on at the moment. For me, I love your energy, I love your determination to find beauty in the hard things, I love that you remind me to journal when I want to avoid everything going on in my head, I love the little bean (I've moved out recently and I'm living without pets for the first time and it's awful), I love the fountain pen content (my boyfriend bought me a pelikan m250 and it's genuinely the love of my life - for the first time, having a pen that feels like an extension of myself). Anyway, thank you for creating content, and I hope that doing it brings you a sense of joy and connection. Have a lovely day!

Hahaha. Yep vlogblog. Most vlogs people put out there are just disorganized blogs done in a different space. This was nice because Im still in pandemic mode being safe so don’t even go grocery shopping too often or out for tea breaks, but started watching far more utube so catching up on subscriptions I like so really nice to get this Vlog to see you! I like your vids & it’s nice to see you: how you & others are doing during all this! I sometimes wonder what everyone’s up to on a more personal level because - let’s face it - we hear/see quite enough about how “the country” is doing (I think you know what I mean ... ). Gotta go back to my art stuff ....

Hi Alicia! I love how natural you are in each video, I especially love your Vlogs, this being your first you did a great job!... and you remind me of me when I was young. The colours you love, around your house you are moving into, the scarf/bandana tied around your neck, the fact that you journal so much. I was the same and now have ordered my first leuchtturm to start journalling again. But things are SO HARD! Fountain pen, any lined paper and ink, was all I used as a young teen into adulthood, but now there's too much to choose from. Watching your videos, is a calming experience for me. Thank you for doing Vlogs, I like yours alot!
I need a Chic Sparrow A5 folio or Travelers notebook with all the bells and whistles. What buy & sell group did you find yours?? Also aside from your teaching for your schoolchildren, do you have any other UA-cam channels?? I hope to hear from you soon!

You are such a wonderful, interesting young lady. I am 70 Yrs. Of age and it is so refreshing to know young women like you exist. I love your interests and your posts about them. I was like you once - but lost my way. During this part of my life I have been fortunate enough to fulfill many of them. I journal, love pens, being with nature, animals, art, play piano. I love seeing you and having the opportunity to know you. You have touched my life immensely - now, this is the purpose of a vlog.

I'm a teacher as well up in NYS. I actually rewrote most of the first Percy Jackson novel for my English language learners and narrated it on my other channel. I was honestly wondering how I would get through to the end of the year right when quarantine happened. It was a needed reprieve until I started missing the kids.

It was nice to see someone "polishing shoes." I haven't seen that in ages & it use to be a regular in my life. My dad use to have a shoebox with polishes & folded rags that we would use for our shoes. Those were the good old days 😊 Times have been pretty weird lately...Be well.

Thanks for the great video. It's so lovely to see you face to face. You actually inspired me to pick up my journal and journal more again. (To tell you the truth I neglected my journal a little during the last few weeks, just because I didn't want to face my emotions with all the things going on in the world, I guess.) So great, that you like your Folio. I love Folios very much. What kind of colour is the castle rock? It looked kind of brownish in the video. But I think, it's probably something like dark grey, isn't it? Enjoying your time is a great way. Please do so. And stay safe. Take care and lots of love from Germany.

Love these. It's like talking to a close friend. I'm an introvert and have social anxiety really badly so it's nice to have interaction with a person like you. You are so calm and interesting. A lot of people our age are very geared towards marriage and kids. I don't have that lifestyle so it's very hard to find people to interact with.

Hiking . . . how I miss that! It's good to hear your enjoyment of it. Your positive energy is contagious. I come from a family of teachers. You can tell she was proud to have been a teacher. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

Tghis is UA-cam socializing at its best. You show you're a living, thinking, feeling person. You come across as that person, rather than as pixels on the monitor.
In some ways, you remind me of Waskisquirrel, even though he's a teacher in his forties, and live sin North Dakota. You may watch his channel, but if not, he also collects vintage pens, and now and then has a good, entertaining ramble that shows he's human.
Before I became a writer, I had a couple of jobs where studying people, learning how to know what they wanted, where they were going, often before they did. As a writer, learning as much as possible about all sorts of people was a necessity. I loved going being the scene at a carnival and getting to know those who made that life a home. I loved going into a roughneck bar, or a political rally of people I would never vote for.
Anything I had never done, any place I'd never been, be it an art class or a meeting of the Lady's Auxiliary at the library, I wanted to go.
It's meting people, striking up a conversation, and then just listen. Everyone wants to talk, but too few want to listen. I want to listen. My grandpa used to say, "You don't learn with your mouth, you learn with your ears. So close your mouth, open your ears, and people will tell you everything they know."
On UA-cam I can't really strike up much of a conversation, but I love rambles because learning about people is what it's all about, not only as a writer, but just as another person. We really are all in this together, but this should be true even without Covid-19 pushing us in that direction. If we all lived as if we really are all in this together, the world would be a much better place.
But just on the pragmatic side, all good fiction, and much nonfiction, is about people, about the human condition.. Even werewolf stories, vampire stories, aliens from space stories, etc., are about people, about the human condition. The werewolves, vampires, aliens from space, etc., are all just stand-ins that help to illustrate the human condition.
In short, character IS story, and to get character right, you have to know people well enough to wear their skin for however long it takes to write the story.

I've had a lot of human connection moments just passing people on the street (it's quite rural here, lots of room to move off to the side and not that many people outside), when you both move aside to let the other one pass at the appropriate distance - a nod, a smile, a thank you

Love your vlogs! Especially during isolation. Could you tell me, what would be a good size ukelele for an adult? 21-inch or 23-inch? And are some "soprano" and some not? I'm seriously thinking of getting one. Thank you!!

Patty Figurski my favorite size is the concert and baritone. Concert because it’s still small and easy to carry around, but I feel it’s more capable that a soprano and has a greater depth of sound. Baritone I like simply because of the tuning, it’s like a little guitar and can be played as such. Really, the size is more personal than physical. They all have their pros and cons. Tenors have an even richer sound than their smaller siblings, but you loose some of the carry-ability. And when I say carry-ability, I mean, pack up and take anywhere ease. In reality, they’re all pretty small and easy to take around! I think sopranos are fun, but can be a little limiting. Concert hands down is my preferred size when considering the standard ukuleles.

It’s actually relaxing to listen to you and not about the c word cause everywhere I go (on the internet) it’s all about the c word and how many people died from it. I’m just tired of c. C please see your way out! Haha! And you are the truest, realist person meaning you don’t live up to society’s standard but up to your own. I am so sick of every girl doing make up and acting all fake. Stop the fake acting and fake happiness girls!
You should do a hiking vlog...do some talking and then show the scenery with music like your other vlogs or videos.

Atash Hamasa hello and thank you. Yeah, I too am tired of it... but then I find myself wanting to talk about it or trying to escape it rather! I saw your comment and suggestion about the hiking video. I tried to do something like that. To be honest, I was a little frustrated, getting into the car and driving on the highway only to discover a constant reminder of “the virus that shall not be named.” But in the end, I found my little bit of peace and had a wonderful time. I hope you are well. Stay sane, stay healthy. :)
