  • This is a fun video to share while I am working on editing the latest installment of my experience using various plant based, water soluble styling products manufactured by black owned businesses. As a minimalist I thought it would be fun to see if I could get a good wash and go using one styling product for moisture and hold. Wash this video to see the product application on freshly washed, conditioned and detangled hair.

    I used to use texture id a few years back and watching this video makes me want to go back to it because it does work good as a stand alone product and that’s what I loved about it. Your hair looks so good as always and I’m counting down til my hair is this length. Great wash and go as usual! Love ❤️

    Another great and through review as always! I picked up that product, way back when, and still haven't tried it yet!
    On a side note, I noticed the Devacurl products, on the shelf behind you ( turned backwards), curious as to whether or not you still use them periodically, on yourself or any of your clients?
    Have a great day!🥰

      Oh Lealea j you are sooooo observant! They are turned backwards because I’m not trying to advertise, lol 😂 I carry Devacurl products because I am listed on their website as a Deva Advanced Stylist and if people come to me from their website they may expect and desire Devacurl products for styling. I like to be prepared in the event of such requests.

    Welcome back! Great video. I actually just bought this product last week at sally’s it was on sale and present! That never happens. I got the last one. I also got my ride or die As I Am products. Im scarred to try it. My hair usually only wants coconut oil as wash-out rather than leave-in ingredient. Ill try it in a few weeks when my sensitive scalp (which has been having an eczema episode this winter) calms down.

    It’s so refreshing to see a tutorial by you. Thank you! I’ve never tried Texture Id. I will have to give it a try when I get my stash down a little further. Have you ever tried Kinky Tresses? I’ve been loving the leave in and curl definer. The leave in really defines my curls and I get days of moisture. I’d be curious to get your thoughts. Good to have you back here on UA-cam! Looking forward to seeing your next video. 😊👍🏽

    Hey Abena, Is it okay to use different products each time you do your wash day? I've asked this question and no one seems to answer. I haven't asked you so hopefully you will respond. Thanks for sharing.

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому

      Lizzie, the more important question to ponder is the purpose for changing those products. Each product you use serves a specific purpose. If you find the desire or need to change them every single time you wash your hair, then they may not be using the right products in the first place.

My hair is healthy though. I appreciate you responding. I just wonder why my curly hair won't hang past my shoulders when my staighten hair is 2 to 3 inches above my bra.

    Interesting to see how you apply styling cream, put it away for a time and then go back to defining the curls..is that a typical good tip for low porosity hair?I want to try your way and see if I'll get better product penetration because it's given time to penetrate rather than forced to do so!

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому +7

      Yes, low porosity takes longer for moisture to penetrate. Allowing the product to sit on the hair for a period of time gives it time to penetrate. It cannot be forced, it's the reason many people experience flaking, product residue and hair that is not well defined. Also notice that putting the hair in twists as opposed to just letting it hang loose will lead to better penetration of the product. When you do this method, pay attention to the base of the twists (the roots). If it's a large base and it's frizzy, dividing the section into smaller twists can lead to less frizz, a smoother base and better curl definition!

    Welcome back! Your hair has flourished. Maybe, in between projects you can do a collage of your hair growth journey ☺️. Question, being a junkie I have a plethora of products in rotation- when you mentioned you had the product for sometime and were still trying to perfect the style. Do you think our products perform the same after expiration opened or un-opened?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you darling 💕💕💕
      A collage sounds like a great idea 💡🤔
      Products are tested by the manufacturer to sustain stable consistency and performance for a certain amount of time. After the expiration has passed the level of stability is no longer guaranteed. The shelf-life begins after the product is opened so it should remain stable for the amount of time indicated on the label which for texture ID is 12 months after the products opened.
      The product I mentioned at the beginning of the video that I had been using for four wash and gos was purchased in September 2020 and is nowhere near the expiration date. 😀

    How did you get all your curls defined? Most natural hair have a bit frizz in the roots. Do you have a texturizer?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому +4

      Hey darling, I’m 💯 percent natural. NO TEXTURIZER. My hair is the same from root to tip. With the exception of my special areas that don’t like to behave, lol 😂 many of us with natural hair have some frizzy parts in the front hairline and some in the crown. But overall, naturals do not necessarily have frizzy roots when we take the time to work the styling products through on freshly washed and conditioned hair. Try following my methods and see if you get better definition in your roots 😘

    My hair is always so frizzy right out of the shower does this mean that the shampoo and conditioner I’m using is no good, or should I just accept that my hair is frizzy and move past it?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому +1

      I have not considered the entire line since I already have staple products for cleansing and conditioning. Sometimes there is one product in an entire line that does what you need it to do. For me it was the styling creme for my washngo. 😘
      Now, what makes you question the level of moisture you’re getting when using the products?

    • @alyssajohnson504
      @alyssajohnson504 3 роки тому

      Embrace Natural Beauty wow thank you so much for responding! 😍I think the reason that I question the moisture is because of the texture of the product and how my hair feels 3 days after I apply it.

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  3 роки тому +1

      Alyssa Johnson It sounds like you are fine with it the first two days before the product begins to wear off. And if you were not as heavy with it as I was, I can see you feeling more of your own texture sooner than when I did. I really got a feel for my own texture in my low porosity section where moisture does not penetrate as easily. But I don't recall noticing it for at least 5 days. So, It could be a combination of factors. Such as not getting enough moisture penetration during the cleansing and conditioning step prior to applying the styler.
