How To Use DS4 (PS4 Controller) On Dolphin (With Motion Controls)

Forgot to mention in the video the you need the Ryochan7 version of DS4Windows for this to work. Also with the more recent updates of DS4Windows this works with a DualSense and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Im sure you can also get joycons working but tbh i dont use those things outside of handheld mode on my switch. i believe for full joycon support (seperate motion control inputs to simulate a wiimote and nunchuck) you would need BetterJoyForCemu. idk maybe ill do a video for that in the future. Joycons do work on DS4Windows but I dont believe they have support for separate motion inputs so it would treat the two remotes as one when it comes to motion.

In DS4Windows (Ryochan7 version):
Click Settings, then click "Enable" under UDP Server.
Jot down the numbers next to "Server" and "Port", as you'll need them in a moment.
For example mine are Server: 127.0.0.1 and Port: 26760
In Dolphin
Click Controllers and a new window should pop up.
In that window, scroll to the bottom and click "Alternate Input Sources".
A window that says DSU Client should appear.
Click the button that says enable.
Click "Add" and make sure that the Server IP Address and Server Port in Dolphin match the Server and Port numbers DS4Windows respectfully.
Sometimes even if all the numbers are matching your controller may not be recognized by dolphin. To fix this Slightly alter the Server and Port numbers and again make sure they match on both DS4Windows and Dolphin.
Now your controller should pop up in Dolphin and passthrough motion controls from DS4Windows to Dolphin.
Next either download the .ini (Dolphin) and .xml (DS4Windows) config files I provided below and place them in the appropriate folder, or you can map out the controller yourself.
Downloading my configs :

For Dolphin configs place the .ini's inside
C:\Users\(your username on your pc)\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Config\Profiles\Wiimote for Wii configs and
C:\Users\(your username on your pc)\Documents\Dolphin Emulator\Config\Profiles\GCPad for GameCube configs.
(file location may vary, just make sure to find the documents folder for dolphin rather than the folder that has the dolphin.exe file inside of it)
For DS4Windows configs place the .xml's in C:\Users\(your username)\Applications\DS4Windows_3.0.18_x64\DS4Windows\Profiles
(again location may vary, you should be okay as long as the path ends in \DS4Windows_3.0.18_x64\DS4Windows\Profiles)
Whether or not you use my configs or make your own, make sure to select the correct controller in dolphin (ex. DSUClient/0/DualSense, for ps5 DSUClient/0/DualShock 4 for ps4, or SDL/0/Nintendo Switch Pro Controller). If the wrong device is selected it wont register inputs. You can test if its working by just clicking buttons while the button remapping window is open and they should highlight when pressed. This is also where you can choose your config file under "Profile"
If you make your own config on dolphin, when mapping gyro and accel right click each input and scroll to the corresponding name and click select to map. To be able to point at the screen with your cursor make sure to click enable pointer when mapping gyro and accel. It never maps when you try moving the remote in a specific direction. look at you being a fucking idiot flinging the god damn playstation controller around like a neanderthal. nerd
Also I noticed when using a pro controller it has to be connected and configured on ds4windows prior to launching dolphin. Everytime I plugged it in after dolphin was open it would not register any inputs, but the problem is fixed after a restart of dolphin. Did not have this issue with the DualShock 4 or the DualSense. Everything also works wirelessly just connect your controller through bluetooth to your pc instead of plugging it into usb, process is exactly the same otherwise.

hey thank you guys for the support and your comments are funny asf. I linked new config files and updated the description a bit to make it a little bit easier to follow. also ds4windows now has DualSense and Pro Controller support and this tutorial works for those aswell as the setup is extremely similar to the DualShock 4. There also this one config I made for gamecube where the adaptive triggers of the dualsense emulate the feeling of gamecube triggers. not related to this video but I linked it in the description because why not

Thanks for the configuration files, I'm now happily playing mario galaxy 2. A few things I should mention are:
The latest stable build of Dolphin doesn't have the controller server thing, a newer build such as a beta build is required.
The camera controls are inverted (might of been like that in the original idk).
The light bar has to be facing the screen for the cursor to appear whereas in SM3DAS the pro controller can be in any position and work. This is a good thing imo as the cursor isn't on screen when you don't want it to be. (If you haven't played SM3DAS you probably won't even notice it)

if u have a ps5 controller you can set the trackpad to motion controls in dolhphin by setting the motion input as your mouse cursor
Man i did everything exactly how you did it in the video and put your configuration files in the correct profiles, but when I try to boot up "SMG (stock)" as a profile on the Wiimote it suddenly says my controller is disconnected on Dolphin when it isnt 🤦🏼♂️

I have been trying to get this to work, however when I select the Device on Dolphin it says "[disconnected] DSUClient/0/DS4". the port and server info are the same and the controller appears on DS4. any ideas?

My DS4 for windows does not have UDP Server in settings. However, in Dolphin controller setting when I click alternate input source, enable, add, it's already there.
You got the wrong version of DS4windows
My dolphin doesn't have the "alternate input source" n it's the latest stable one 5.0

When I do this in galaxy 2 the gyro kind of works because mario spins if I shake the controller and the flying and rolling sections work but the pointer isn't coming on the screen. I did everything just as you said
disable the "auto-hide" in "motion simulation" tab

you can try setting the latency to 1ms in ds4windows under blutooth poll rate

once the game is running every time I press a button it continuously says that the controller is getting disconnected and connected at the same time by the emulator and then it says it cant detect the controller. Any way to fix this?
make sure that you dont have steam open or any app that would use the playstation controller, its usually the problem when it comes to that. double check all your settings, and i just updated the description to be easier to follow and have more details so check to make sure you followed all the steps correctly

its way outdated, i use the development build of dolphin so it updates almost everytime i play on dolphin, but i recommend the beta builds for a more up to date experience with good stability. stable its just really outdated and is missing alot of features the beta and dev builds have
