This song is about a woman that Ian met when he was helping others deal with epilepsy after he was initially diagnosed with it. Kind of wish the video had stayed with that story, it was important to Ian.
I have been listening to Joy Division and New Order for a long time now, though only recently I learned of the connection between the two and of what happened to Ian. I felt so sad when I read of the tragedy. Reason being, I can identify and sympathize with you all. My sister Ini passed away of a grand mall seizure at 28 years old. She just couldn't come out of it. It was devastating. Im telling you this so I can tell you that I remember that just before she was going to seizure she would try to run wherever she could to hide. We know she was terribly embarassed that they happened. We all always understood and would reassure her and support her through them the best we could too but we know it was terribly hard for her. I just wish we here in America could have told Ian we would have understood .. we all would have loved to see him sing and done whatever it took to help him if he did have one while performing. Im so sorry if it was his fear we wouldnt have embraced him epilepsy or not. I know we all love Joy Division . Love
I like this one. Joy Division's music is so associated with 70s Manchester it's hard to set it anywhere other than the impoverished Britain of that era, but the noir style of this vid is a nice choice. It has a theme, which is great, and is beautifully shot. I think it deserves some respect for that alone

Curtis primarily drew the lyrical inspiration for "She's Lost Control" from a young woman with whom he had become acquainted through his employment as an Assistant Disablement Resettlement Officer at a Macclesfield occupational rehabilitation centre between 1978 and 1979.[9][10] The woman had epilepsy and had been desperate to find employment,[11] yet she suffered seizures whenever she came to the exchange, which would greatly disturb Curtis, who himself suffered from epilepsy.[11] At one stage, this young woman ceased attending her appointments at the occupational rehabilitation centre.[12][13] Initially, Curtis assumed she had found a job, but he would later discover she had died of an epileptic seizure.
Oh my god, it's so nice to watch one of these that actually has thoughtful consideration to the presentation for once. I love the use of an earthquake as an allusion to epilepsy or the displays of OCD and mental collapse. It's a little over the top but the feelings I get while watching are so much closer to the track than almost all of these. This one and Insight are the best so far.
@@codykhaos4987 that sounds like an interesting idea. I think the song is about epilepsy considering Ian Curtis had the condition and the lyrics seem to relate to a seizure, especially in the lines 'And she screamed out, kicking on her side, and said "I've lost control again" and seized up on the floor, I thought she'd die'. however, I think the feeling of losing control can be applicable to many mental health issues including OCD, eating disorders and bipolar disorder

No actually, a quake is not a good metaphor for epilepsy. Both ham-handed, and not apt. & Since we're on the subject... OK so what was the OCD and the straightening the picture and the makeup etc etc etc a lame metaphor for?
This one is much better than the other "reimagined videos." This is probably one of my favorite music videos as it actually tells a story. (And AnnaSophia Robb did amazing in this as she does in all her movies)
This one... This one was actually all right! They had some quirky edits and their story to the MASTERPIECE of she's lost control took the whole disorientated aspect really literally! The shot where she's stumbling down the hallway at 0:42 was incredible. They also paid amage to how joy division had the spraying sound in the track she's lost control using a spray can. They timed the spraying of window cleaner along with the drum best perfect at 1:35. I also like how, for me anyway, the earthquake can represent her sanity crumbling down in a world that's quite literally black and white, but trying to hold on just a little longer by fixing up the shelves and washing the windows. She breaks down crying when she can't sweep up the rubble on the floor because in turn: the damage is already done. That's why she starts breaking up the floors in the hallway and changing her look. She's realised there's no hope in trying to pick up the pieces of a broken mind. She's accepted how she is now She's gone. She's not who she was. She's let go of her mind. She's lost control...
You know what's better than this. Putting the album on and just listening to the lyrics and understanding them. This video doesn't understand what the song is about. I'm sure many of you out there do know what the song is about. Well it ain't this. It ain't "in a perfectionist and everything needs to be clean". This song has one of the most powerful messages and this video pisses all over it in my opinion. Despite all of that it is better than a woman who cant dance, at man in a dress, two blokes having a dance and a woman working in a sodding snail factory
GRACIAS!!!!! MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!!
Well, I've always imagined a really dark, hopeless and very disturbing place/scenario as I listen to this song. The drum beat at the beggining it's like echoes inside your mind that puts you in such a tension. As the music develops, the guitar riff ain't catchy, Ian's voice sounds as if he's about to have a mental breakdown (more when he sangs She's lost control in repeat and the instrumental changes a little bit as the lyrics becomes more and more darker and it's like there's no salvation to that girl/character of the song and the ending makes you anxious). This video really puts you in that dark and chaotic place, it materialize those feelings of despair and anguish. But the character here doesn't looks like an epileptic, more like someone that has social anxiety and goes crazy because of her loneliness.
Joy Division is an exceptional band for so many reasons but here’s the thing I most admire. They lost Ian but had the perseverance to shake off his loss and go on as New Order! Few bands can continue after losing such an individual The Doors couldn’t do it. Zeppelin could not go on as Zeppelin after Jon Bonham. Pink Floyd showed the same ability to go on after Syd Barrett bowed out. There are other examples surely but Joy Division/New Order is a shining example of musicians who overcame the loss and went onto greatness. RIP Ian and my hats off to New Order!
As someone deeply in love with Joy Division and New Order I have to admit this was... better than the rest of the reimagined clips. Fits the lyrics and aesthetic, shows the emotional fall and character development of someone who has, truly, lost control. The use of an earthquake as an allegory for epilepsy is clever. Oh, and ignore the negative comments, most of them are before the premiere.
This music is very good, gets in your head when you listen to it once. Before my time so I didn't know about this band but came across it on twitter, amazing music.
I hear that. Even when watching these, I'm remembering living these songs as they came out, and dancing like we'd be dead tomorrow, cuz some of us were.
If we're out at the dancing and started pulling of Ian's moves I'd be shipped t Carstairs (mental hospital for criminally insane) I LOVE IT, TOTALLY UNIQUE AND TOTALLY BRILLIANT, JUST LIKE THE MAN HIMSELF R.I.P. I.C
Fuckinell!! Ian Curtis's vocals sound ominously good on this studio recording. Aside from that the band sounds the same. The live version and video is of course priceless for Ian's incredible, heartbreaking performance.
Seeing it in a *Closer* way, the video it's "okay", i guess it's better than the other Reimagined Videos, but for a Gem like She's Lost Control it's still bad.
For all of you who don’t know, that girl is Annasophia Robb, aka Leslie Burke from Bridge to Terabithia, Violet in Charlie and the chocolate factory, and Bethany Hamilton from Soul Surfer.
I'll never understand why some people think Joy Division is some untouchable entity and nobody should dare to cover them or do their own interpretations of the music
Are u daft ...., Joy Division’s ‘She’s Lost Control’. Man, I mean, that was THE song from Joy Division, no one can put so much frustration and sorrow as Ian Curtis did into that song, Ian experienced what he talked about in this song, no one can do the same and put feelings as much as Ian Curtis did,” . He’s not wrong. Enough said imbo
_I personally asked Ian who he wrote this about and he said that a girl came into the DHSS section he was working in at the time, and he had to interview her and during that interview she said she had epilepsy, this got his attention and the both spoke in length about losing control during a attack etc_.

Confusion in her eyes that says it all
She's lost control
And she's clinging to the nearest passer by
She's lost control
And she gave away the secrets of her past
And said I've lost control again
And of a voice that told her when and where to act
She said I've lost control again
And she turned around and took me by the hand
And said I've lost control again
And how I'll never know just why or understand
She said I've lost control again
And she screamed out, kicking on her side
And said I've lost control again
And seized up on the floor, I thought she'd die
She said I've lost control
She's lost control again
She's lost control
She's lost control again
She's lost control
Well I had to phone her friend to state her case
And say she's lost control again
And she showed up all the errors and mistakes
And said I've lost control again
But she expressed herself in many different ways
Until she lost control again
And walked upon the edge of no escape and laughed
I've lost control
She's lost control again
She's lost control
She's lost control again
She's lost control
I could live a little better with the myths and the lies
When the darkness broke in, I just broke down and cried
I could live a little in a wider line
When the change is gone, when the urge is gone
To lose control When here we come
Thanks!

Yes, I too lost control just yesterday. I love JD. Thanks very much.
Greatest band of all time
Joy Division is an exceptional band for so many reasons but here’s the thing I most admire.
My favorite Joy Division song!!!!!!!!!!
You could’ve just made the whole thing the earthquake and it would have made a little more sense
More sense as a video but more sense as a video for this song.
This music is very good, gets in your head when you listen to it once. Before my time so I didn't know about this band but came across it on twitter, amazing music.
This the real punky music of the early 80 🤘🤘🤘🤘
this is the story of my life 🖤
I hear that. Even when watching these, I'm remembering living these songs as they came out, and dancing like we'd be dead tomorrow, cuz some of us were.
That is the freedom of art. You self-proclaimed Guardians of the Grail, RELAX. A fan from the very beginning.
Best one to date
just close your eyes and let the music take you.
When you reimagine music's past you inevitably harm its future.
I cry every day because of Ian Curtis suicide
Don’t care so much for the video but thank you for the beautifully remastered track!
You're in
If we're out at the dancing and started pulling of Ian's moves I'd be shipped t Carstairs (mental hospital for criminally insane)
I LOVE IT, TOTALLY UNIQUE AND TOTALLY BRILLIANT, JUST LIKE THE MAN HIMSELF
R.I.P. I.C
I love how he plays the part as the fixer. Understanding of what's happening

The band and all the songs are beautiful
Fuckinell!! Ian Curtis's vocals sound ominously good on this studio recording. Aside from that the band sounds the same. The live version and video is of course priceless for Ian's incredible, heartbreaking performance.
The whole band just comes together so perfectly the music Ian's voice gos so smooth great great band😃😃
Bro 🤗
Seeing it in a *Closer* way, the video it's "okay", i guess it's better than the other Reimagined Videos, but for a Gem like She's Lost Control it's still bad.
ich finde dieses Video großartig
El mejor hasta la fecha
Amo Joy Division
For all of you who don’t know, that girl is Annasophia Robb, aka Leslie Burke from Bridge to Terabithia, Violet in Charlie and the chocolate factory, and Bethany Hamilton from Soul Surfer.
I guess he didn't care after all there was an earthquake.
The best band ever
What have we learned from this?
Disney stars always take strange destinations ...
I've lost control AGAIN! I seized upon the flooooookoor
Pretty cool take. I think it works. The use of B&W is a nice touch.
Essa banda foi e continua sendo espetacular!
Una de mis canciones favoritas
bro i thought this was a parody video with the music in the back but realize now it's on the official youtube channel wtf
I'm From Brazil Love Joy Division 💕🇧🇷
I'm frome Germania,i love Joy Division
I'll never understand why some people think Joy Division is some untouchable entity and nobody should dare to cover them or do their own interpretations of the music
Are u daft ...., Joy Division’s ‘She’s Lost Control’. Man, I mean, that was THE song from Joy Division, no one can put so much frustration and sorrow as Ian Curtis did into that song, Ian experienced what he talked about in this song, no one can do the same and put feelings as much as Ian Curtis did,” . He’s not wrong. Enough said imbo
Great again. Like I told, you, months ago,Its much better than looking at an album cover.. Keep up the good work!!
Finally a good one
Annasophia Robb ❤️
Considering this song was influenced by young girl Ian saw having a seizure...not sure what I was expecting. Hearing the song is enough for me
Its quite poignant when you hear Ian talking about his epilepsy
incrível, sensacional
So I'll be the first to say it, I guess. This is the guy from Fallout. Norman.
was looking for this lol
@@dankcaesar4760 Kind of shocked no one mentioned this before. He had a pretty big role.
Dive, Dive, Dive, Dive in meeee
Definitely one of the greatest songs ever. And the first in the collection of videos I quite enjoyed.
_I personally asked Ian who he wrote this about and he said that a girl came into the DHSS section he was working in at the time, and he had to interview her and during that interview she said she had epilepsy, this got his attention and the both spoke in length about losing control during a attack etc_.
Thanks... I must appreciate this..
Love joy division
