I just started getting back to Facebook to share my favorite local products on a page and I feel anxious seeing very few to no engagements lol. Great question! I'm probably not the best person to ask about this though -- I don't recommend that my students worry about "designing" their portfolios (but my students are copywriters so they don't need to prove that they have great design skills). As a website designer you'd probably want to structure your portfolio differently than a copywriter.
