- We brought these 1981 Delorean Tail Lights up to 2015 (the Future!) standards! We have a ton of footage we couldn't include, but I'll add it ALL to my free mini course: www.flyryde.co...
Huge shout to my boy Irko, (Multi Platinum Audio Engineer and Bow Tie Connoisseur) who told me about this project nearly a year, ago, but only just recently picked up this DMC-12.

What crazy lighting ideas would YOU do to it?
There is a DeLorean repair and replacement facility, I believe in Cali. A guy bought all of the remaining NOS parts and panels from John D. All of them, he has everything!
Is that the one Mike Brewer from Wheeler Dealers went to?
@@ro63rto Yep
Those ligts could be so cool with a custom build with individual leds for the lens squares
That’s gonna be V3 🤓
Make them oled 👍🏻
Your video quality is so professional it’s better than dumb TV
Looks good Chris. We use 3m vhb at work and I was told it stands for very high bond. I know it sure does stick like hell. But I prefer very hot boy
😅 hahaha
That’s nuts ! I love it I also miss seeing Chris hahaha !
The repair place is in Texas
Would have never thought it would get this complicated. Such a big difference
Believe me it's not. There is a led module that is a direct replacement $8/$10.
I am designing rear tail light assembly for my 81 DeLorean, in the style of Dodge Challenger lights with sequential turn signal and brake lights. But can use some input
So cool!
Dude that is a clean car , I cant wait to see you bring it up to modern times💯💚💯💚💯💚
That is so awesome it makes them stand out more I just want to know what is the length and height of the tail light from the bottom reverse light corner to the bottom turn light corner and then the bottom reverse light to the top of the reverse light so like the |___ ___| L shaped because buying the tail light is $300 dollars or more so I want to make my own for less than 20 dollars to 40 dollars
Delorean spares still availble in the U.S....watched SEMA video from Jimmy Oakes and Salvage to Savage i think they were did a Twin Turbo Ls Delorean and they mentioned parts still being manufactured in a state in U.S. 🤔🤔🤔
Ya a very common problem with the old boards. Why put in a load resistor, just get a led flasher module $8/$10. It takes care of the whole car. P.S. sometimes the socket is only loose at the rivet. Can be fixed with a screw and nut.
There are still parts available to make more deloreans
Chris, you better step up your insurance before you do further work on the DeLorean. 🤣🤣🤣
There's a company in texas i think that still makes parts
They actually still producing parts for this car
Only the parts that are easy and in high demand.
So only 2,000 Mazdaspeed MX-5 were made before the factory in Japan burned down.... 9,000 DeLoreans were made before going bankrupt. You're telling me a Mazdaspeed is more than 4 times as rare as a DeLorean?
Brave
Question for you...I bought some replacement headlights for my jetta, and one month later, the glass lenses fell off. I bought primer and windshield adhesive, and it held for a year.what would you recommend for reattaching my lenses?
what brand of bulbs do you use
عمل محترفين
Damn, not even 3D printing can reproduce these tail lights?
It absolutely could. Use a resin printer, printbit in sections then make silicone molds and recast them from a 2part epoxy resin
.. Salut my friend super car super video subscribe subscribe
With all due respect, there is not one person who has legitimately, & scientifically performed a correct lighting mod or upgrade/enhancement to Delorean tail lights, just like many other also try to do on classic car retrofits. Those tower-style LED bulbs are NOT photmetrically compatible to emulate the correct direction of light & fire it directly into the reflector bucket & collected & focused out thru the lens optics like an incandescent filament bulb does in these types of housings!!!!! 😬
Furthermore, the reflectors aluminized coating is severely degraded & oxidized even after 10yrs+ old from when new since they didn't have a protective coating on the reflector like newer vapor deposited aluminum reflectors started to use in the 90's & all modern day cars.
The reflector buckets need cut open with an ultrasonic knife, & at least be coated with a hi-solids "brand" of pure aluminum spray paint, & burnished with 000+/- steel wool to get a dull but shinny finish to evenly diffuse the reflected light, NOT a mirror chrome finish which will cause visual hot spots & artifacts.
Way to many other enhancement mods to discuss that would really enhance those lights far beyond the factory design, or even the bulbs you installed.
Looks, in this case, are greatly deceiving for the correct light output at a far distance of 50-100' & off-axis angles especially in bright daylight! ✌🙄✌
PS, ......I have discovered a factory design flaw in those rear tail lights & was even confirmed by the original blue prints, but is just yet another mod to enhance those lights. This would've been a safety recall eventually if DMC stayed in business & the cars then & Steven some now should not be driven at night with the original bulb configuration.
