There is no doubt that you two are extremely talented but let's be honest, nobody can copy the superb elegance and class of the original performance. Absolutely no-one.
Wow!!! This is my favorite number of all time ... I can’t believe you were able to learn it and perform it so beautifully!! I’m incredibly impressed. I could watch this over and over ... you two are brilliant!!!
WOW...I just watched this for the first time....I loved the original way back in the day and the way you honoured it here is phenomenal. Thank you soooo much for sharing this.
Yikes 🎉 Ahhh…mazing Wowza❣️Those were my first thoughts when I watched this video . Although I am not a dancer (not even close) I adore watching all the classic tappers from years gone past and of today . You are one of those now for me . I saw this movie of Elenor Powel and Fred Astaire “Many years” ago . And now with UA-cam I watch it over and over. Along with your stunning performances!!!
I could watch this all day. I have always been a fan of a Fred Astaire and tap dancing. Watching this makes want to take up dancing and try to replicate this.
This is UTTERLY STUNNING. Thank you so much. One of my favorite routines, faithfully recreated with what is clearly a HUGE amount of dedication, practice, and love. Thank you!
WOW! That is one of the most outstanding covers/re-creations I have ever seen! Thank you. Get the period clothes, come to my town and do it, please! I would buy a ticket for this!
As close to Fred and Eleanor as you could hope to get, I think. I marvel at the amount of time it must have taken to duplicate Fred and Eleanor's dance steps, and with Fred and Eleanor one the screen behind them, too. I am thoroughly impressed. Thank you, Veronica and Alastair, for your work and the pleasure watching you dance brought.
They are excellent... but I must opine that Fred (as well as the great Eleanor Powell) was super smooth...the most effortlessly graceful dancer of his era and a very hard act to follow...however these two dancers were very very good. Bravo! .
Really delightful to watch. The technique is very impressive but how those two can *smile* through the whole strenuous routine is almost beyond comprehension. I could only have enjoyed it more if the pair had worn a closer approximation of the original costumes.
I was just about to send the link to the original to one of my students as "learning material". In case he wanted to know what perfection is ;-) Then I found the link to this cover. Creating a routine with that technique, musical precision and appeal is exceptionally genius. Recreating it like these two did is at least just as wonderful. What they wear is such a trivial detail. Your comment doesn´t make you look good. I´m guessing you´re not as good a dancer as any of the four in this video, are you?
OMG, I love Love LOVE THIS!!! Beautiful job, both of you. My favorite (non Ginger Rogers) Fred performance and my hands down favorite Eleanor Powell scene*. This just made me so happy. Thank you both for your wonderful performance and sharing this. *not a knock, just my bias toward all things Fred Astaire 🙂
Este número no es solo sólo Tap, también es elegancia y armonía en los movimientos, algo que las personas de la época actual ya no poseen. Se os olvidó la elegancia
@@wms72Dubbing? It did exist and was used all the time. Dubbing just means to record sound over previous recorded image footage. The first ever sound picture was dubbed. So there. Astaire always insisted in dubbing his own routines, unlike other performers he would recreate the routine for the benefit of the sound recording as opposed to having a sound engineer trying to recreate the tap dancing sounds with a pair of empty coconut shells. Whenever you hear Astaire dancing is him you are hearing. I read somewhere than in a few occasions Hermes Pan would put on heels and dub the routine with Astaire to get the sound just right.
The new young couple, trying - and succeeding - to emulate Fred and Eleanor in their Begin the Beguine number is great. The boy, I found, was more easy on the eye. His dancing was flawless and I also loved the way his suit was cut, displaying fine athletic legs. The girl was fine too, but a little laid back; may be I found less enthusiasm in her moves. Forgive me if I am wrong.
There is no doubt that you two are extremely talented but let's be honest, nobody can copy the superb elegance and class of the original performance. Absolutely no-one.
We have to bring back the lost art of tap dancing! Brilliant!
Brillsnt
You people are exceptional!!! How wonderful is this? I can't believe how talented you guys are! Thanks for putting this on line!!
Wow!!! This is my favorite number of all time ... I can’t believe you were able to learn it and perform it so beautifully!! I’m incredibly impressed. I could watch this over and over ... you two are brilliant!!!
Well done. It is encouraging to see young dancers doing more than just jerking their arms, legs, and heads about and then calling themselves dancers.
WOW...I just watched this for the first time....I loved the original way back in the day and the way you honoured it here is phenomenal. Thank you soooo much for sharing this.
EXTRAORDINAIRE!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!
That was AMAZING!!! Bravo!!! 👏👏👏
OUTSTANDING! I've always loved this incredible number - you two did it justice! Woo hoo!
The floor isn't shiny at all like it is in the movie.
Yikes 🎉

Thank
I agree, I am stunned ... ourstanding. Yes yes yes.
I was thinking the same thing! Thought it was a lost art!!!
You can see how difficult the routine is when it is performed live . Well done and a great tribute to Eleanor and Fred, thank you.
You talented dancers have captured EVERY step done by Eleanor and Fred.....absolutely amazing!
The steps, yes. Other than that, well.........
@@jackj5368 ..........well, yes, nobody can recreate Eleanor's beautiful smile.
Her smile,@@dudley5533? Sure thing, dude. I was strictly referring to a smile.
@@jackj5368 Really? Anything else you had in mind?
Just, wow! Loved the picture-in-picture. You both were so in sync! Beautiful!
Watch this actually helped me to forget how much pain I was in. Thank You. SUPERB.

This is awesome, such an iconic number 🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️
Bravissimi! I have always wondered whether this routine could be replicated. Now I know. Brilliant. (Now, teach me, please!)
That was absolutely fantastic! Both of you did an absolutely wonderful and stupendous job! Thank you.
Absolutely amazing, I love the art of tap. Wow!!! I love your outfits too! 😍😍😍
It may take me 40 years, but someday, I promise myself I’ll be able to do this! :):)
Is there any other dance number in history that's been imitated as often as this one?
WOW that's fantastic
Just amazing!
That was great. I am sure that Ellie would have loved it, too.
Wonderful dancing up there with Fred and Eleanor ❤😊
Absolutely sublime, without the cut which occurs in the film.!
............well, of course I'm watching this again!!!
Absolutamente maravilhosos.
Awesome thanks!
Absolutely love it!!!! Fantastic!

Absolutely so much fun to watch! Really really great job in your homage to the two pinnacles of tap. Made me so happy to watch this!

Superb! You must’ve worked hard but it shows with the ease you managed it.
Would you do a tutorial for this dance?

Closest I’ve seen to the original . And can you guys spin !
Impressive!! I'd love to know how long it took to watch and learn this routine step by step!!!
Estuvo INCREÍBLE !!! Me encantooooo💗 a mí me encantaría bailar así c':
WOW!!!!!!!!
BRAVO!! I've een wondering when some young people would do this! Well done, you two!!
Also a homage to the great songwriting talent of the American songwriter, Cole Porter.
And to the insight of Artie Shaw, who made it swing.
Genial!!!! ❤️💯✌️
That was wonderful!
That was brilliant!
This was great, but Eleanor did it in HEELS.
And Fred had a bow tie!
Excellent talented couple, but spoilt by the effect of dancing in work boots, shame.
Eleanor and Fred both dubbed their tap dancing. In those days nearly impossible to do otherwise. These two aren't. Superb job.
