This was not a gas explosion. It appears to be a highly volatile explosion related to bomb materials. The fire ball plum and the disintegrated pieces scattered in small amount of materials. Question is, the residue on the material from the center to the outside parameters will determine conclusively what the charge consisted of. The people in that building will be hard to find. Fragmented construction pieces are littered beyond what a small lab with controlled areas could have produced. ATF, FBI and the military need to assess quickly and see what the residue says was used in this explosion. There certainly is a lot of samples out there to form a conclusive answer. Test for ammonia nitrate, carbide, and once the test on the surface has been secured, they will know in a matter of minutes what the cause of the explosion. No one in the house I am sure survived. The blackened charged burn out looks like a chemical explosion.
Oh, how sad I am to find your explanation much more viable than my initial thoughts. It is beyond my comprehension to think about how and why someone would decide to do this intentionally.
