Last year, immediately after an almost "fail" in Cloverdale, I rushed down to get a Monroe County siren. My goal was to get an IU Whelen, but considering how half Indiana's roads were under construction, I could only make it to this -130 just south of Stinesville; a small town on the northwest edge of the county. The community already has an -SRN but this -130 was recently added to provide coverage around the Stinesville Lions Club.
Siren tests are done on first Fridays of the month at Noon and at 7PM. The weather was a little iffy so I wasn't even sure they would test with the stormy-looking skies and high wind. Owen County next door also tests at Noon and in the beginning you could hear a couple Whelens sound in the distance. Maybe I should've went there, but oh well. This thing was pretty loud and despite the fluctuating pitch, it had a nice shrill scream to it.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

I hate the cloud
I love the siren
It ended in the same exact direction it started in
I love how it goes from alert straight to fast wail the second time. Epic video!
alright, being new to the siren community, i have questions.
i see the 2001 series getting a lot of hate, and i don't understand why.
i know Thunderbolts are really cool, and older sirens are fascinating, but what's with all the hate for the 2001 series?
Same but im not new only to UA-cam. I have only recorded one 2001-130 growl and yes im aware im replying to a year old comment
That is a long ass wind down for a 2001.
exactly lol
Nice job!
The alert has like 2 types of pitches.
Nice! Glad I got another recording to hold me over
Ironically I was actually at IU doing a tour of the campus, and the sirens there were never tested
IU and Monroe County are really picky when it comes to cloudy weather. I was going to record a siren there last week but they said they weren't going to test. They've even cancelled some of their evening tests before even though sometimes it's pitch dark and wouldn't be able to see any clouds if there were any.
Nice video, Brandon!!

What cameras do you use?
Cool 2001-130
Thats the siren i see a lot, and the one my mom mistook for a fire siren (it was actually a tornado drill test) in ohio. It IS used for a fire siren sometimes.
This siren's having an identity crises. It's got the head of a 130 but it says it's an SRNB on the sticker
This siren has a -130 head and a -130 label. The siren you see in the beginning intro is a different one in Monroe county that is, indeed, an -SRNB.
@@DSRX100 You trickster
The pitch keeps changing a lot.
Wind flying into the projector
Reee Tones
why is it changing pitches e.e
Idk
Is it running on a whelen controller XDD
Nah, it's all FS. The only stuff getting activated with Whelen DTMF are IU's Whelens several miles away from this town.
@@DSRX100 It was my whelen attack joke XDD
@@DSRX100 Also Man, that 130 can SCREAM
Wait I’m Confused....Why Does It Say In The Title 2001-130 But On The Rotator Box It Says 2001-SRNB?
The siren pictured in the title is not this siren, it's another one from the same system.
Ok I Get It Now
Find a 2001SRN
Why is the whole siren head shaking on the rotater? And why this pitch so high and fluctuating?
The siren head isn't shaking, that's just the video stabilization making it look weird.
When will you do a video on the federal Q2 siren
The Q2 is a vehicular siren, which are things I don't usually post on this channel.
Oh ok
5 miles? From where? The siren??
No, 5 miles from area 51
