I have learned more stuff from you in just a few months that I didn't know for years of doing fish tanks You're you tube Chanel and you are awesome thanks Kev
I love this light, just got it for my 75g Hap Peacock tank. Its super bright! But my lord does it get hot to the touch. Full brightness this thing draws 100watts. And 100w for Leds is nuts
U put it to high wave maker for poop and food to turn into crumb's. Once they turn into crumb's they get suck into your canister filter hose's. And go through the filter and out for fresh water. It's also good for wave also .
Congratulations on the upgrades, definitely costly upgrades on an aquarium but in my opinion completely worth it. One more mp40 on the left side will aid in the removal of detritus buildup on the bottom of the tank. Reef crest or tidal swell will be your best bet to keep the fish happy and detritus suspended in the water column. Perhaps an additional mp40 on the left side to break up the laminar flow.
Thank you! I agree about the second MP40. It's still in the box due to all the other projects going on. But I will be adding it soon! Thanks for the tips! 😊💪
Hi, I just want to say thank you for your service and my husband and I just found your UA-cam today. We are listening to how you take care of fish. Our daughter has a small tank and all the fish keeps dying so we are going to do it your way. What fish do you recommend for a 10 gallon tank? I know that sounds pathetic but my little girl loves fishes.😅

Hi Kev, please can you kindly advise how long you leave the lights on per day? 8 hours? Also, is White the optimal colour for the fish themselves (and not us viewing)? Thank you
Awesome products. Marine grade on a freshwater tank is a little over kill especially at that price point. Definitely can get really good equipment for a good price.
should i use ammonia fluval packs on my new aquarium that is cycling with fish that has ammonia spikes? also the daily dose od stability and prime should i be dosing the full amount for my entire aquarium? 75 ml for 75 gallons
I'm in a slight dilemma. I built a plywood aquarium and I can get suction cups to stick well to the epoxy. What would you recommend as far as magnets go? The plywood is 3/4 inch. Is there magnet clips that would work? I can't seem to find anything on Google.
Great video kev awesome footage and and good work on showing the differences , but lemme ask you this , we all know fish don’t even like bright light so why make a light that bright ….don’t need all that , not for fish anyway, and even if someone said to grow certain plants all that bad boy is gonna do is grow hella algae , like having a car that goes 200 mph u drive to work everyday, no need,
Any amount of light used incorrectly can grow algae. A very bright beautiful light only kept on for the amount of hours any tank light should be kept on won't grow any more algae than any other light IF you do everything else you should do to prevent algae. You're right though, fish dont need any light. No matter what light you have its for your viewing pleasure. So while this light is much brighter and powerful it provides a better viewing experience for me. And as long as I continue my 6-8 hours light on schedule there wont be any algae problems. 😊
lol, I had to move it because the button is on the bottom side, so I had to lift it and tilt it to access the buttons. I will be adding the mount and hanging the lights over the tank for that super cool look!
I see your filter outputs are pointed to the left in the video and you put the Vortech facing the same direction. Where is your filter intake w/regards to the where you placed the Vortech? Trying to figure out where to place this Vortech in my tank. THANKS for all your great information!
Hey love your channel it’s been helpful 😊 I didn’t know I had to cycle my tank prior,my fish was white and now it’s tail is turning yellow. Burnt brown…. 😢 Do they go back to their original color? Due to ammonia spike? I’m currently using prime everyday and adding beneficial bacteria and no feeding along with salt baths…
Glad you're correcting the situation the right away. Fish are awesome self healers. Yes, its very possible they can get their colors back once your parameters have settled and tank is cycled. I would dose with Seachem Paraguard as a precaution to prevent any secondary infections from the injuries.
Not this one, but surprisingly you don't need to. It has a very wide flow path. This was one of my concerns as well but as you can see it still provides tons of surface agitation and pulls all the detritus from underneath it.
It wont be a drastic change right away, unless you have a lot of plants. Give the roots time to grow and spread and they'll be more efficient. But I wouldnt alter my water change schedule anyway due to its other benefits besides nitrate removal.
It hasnt. But I think its because I dont leave it on full steady power 24/7. This wavemaker has wave modes that can be scheduled. I use about 3 different ones throughout the day. 😊
Additional thoughts. I have AI Prime lights on 3 of my aquariums. The coolest part for me is that you can download lighting schedules from established aquarists, can you do that with the Blade as well? Honestly the sites I checked those lights were very nicely priced. I have one Kessil A80’s on my Mbuna tank, maybe I swap out for a Blade. Thanks for the review!
Anything coming from the saltwater side is going to be pricey because of the quality they bring with them. I believe the Kessil lights are similarly priced. Yes you can use templates from other established aquarists right from the app. 😊
Um I do like the new light, I’m just a big fan and user of Current USA lights, have them on both tanks, Cichlid and aquascape, question I have, does the new lights also run the wave makers like the current USA does?
I've always been a fan of current usa myself. But after this first time of trying a new light and comparing it, its the first time I noticed just how dim they've gotten over the years. When I first got them they looked great and I wasnt aware of the change until now. Both apps for the light and the wavemaker work great, hopefully, soon they can combine them into 1 app.
How do I know if my wave maker is too strong for my tank. 75 gal with a 5800gl/h wave maker at the lowest speed fish seem to act a little odd when it’s on
@@KaveManAquatics that’s awesome, I started with freshwater a year ago. And started salt late last year. Love both. Salt is so fun and not as hard as it is seemed to be
I have a weird brain. When I’m doing 80 percent water change. Should I turn filter off until prime and stable have a shot to mix through when refilling?
I’ve over analyzed a bunch myself, you’re not alone lol Filter can stay on or off either way. Chlorine won’t kill bacteria instantly. And Prime works nearly instantly 😁💪
I was concerned of that too, but it has such a wide spray, I get plenty of surface agitation and still pulls detritus from under it 😊 Will be testing the Nero 5 soon which can be turned/tilted
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks! Last night one of my angelfish died from swim bladder. I didn't have much to help her besides a bucket with aquarium water, seachem polyguard and an air stone. I think it's a good idea that I become better prepared for this sort of thing so it never happens again.
Not a fan they only offer in white at the moment. I love my Current USA and I went with the Marine series with Bluetooth app / control so can do all the same things at better price point and also integrates my Current USA wave makers. I am exciting to see AI push into the freshwater space though.
I did request one in black, I'm sure they'll release one soon. I've always been a fan of current usa myself. But after this first time of trying a new light and comparing it, its the first time I noticed just how dim they've gotten over the years. When I first got them they looked great and I wasnt aware of the change until now.
Kev definitely the blade for sure. Big difference in lighting for sure! New WaveMaker does a great job also. I did see the detritus moving around like crazy. I really like the Apps for both also! If I had tanks like you..I would absolutely pay more for the lighting. You do get what you pay for. Really enjoyed this video! As always Kev...Thank you so much for sharing this! Your the Best! 😊❤
Thanks Lori! I knew this price point was going to shock some of us here on the freshwater side. Myself included! lol But these are saltwater quality lights made for the freshwater world. Many still might not like the price but I wanted to show the option just in case 😊
@KaveMan Aquatics They are expensive Kev but a good cost- effective investment for your "Fishkave". Worth it for you in the long run for sure. As for me? Right now I'll stick with My Marineland Led's for now!! 🤣 ❤️
I can see why you say that but I attribute it to my camera adjusting the aperture and exposure due to the brightness of the light. Watch again and you'll see the wall in the background get darker everytime the Blade is on, because its focus on the tank is super bright it has to darken everything else. When current usa is on you'll see how bright the wall in the background is because tank light is not as bright.
@KaveMan Aquatics idk, either way, for literally TRIPLE the price of the Current light if one had to pay for it out of pocket, is it worth it. You can put 2 current lights on the tank for much less money and get better over all light coverage.
It's not for everyone bro, I get that. Some wouldn't want 2 lights on their tank and like the look of just 1. Also, just a heads up...current USA looks like they're going out of business. Thats what got me looking around in the first place.
Yes more light always means more algae. But as long as you stick to a schedule for how long the lights remain on, you'll be fine. I always do 8 hours or less, no matter how dim or bright a light is.
I bought same wave waker for my tank it not worth the price I brought it home put it in my 220 gallon I have a cheap aqueon wave maker I paid 24 dollars on sale at petco I think the cheap aqueon is alot better then these app controlled wave makers pushes out more water then the expensive one blew my mind cause the aqueon was stronger flow and better yes it doesn't have all those fancy controls but it's definitely works better then expensive wave makers I returned mine the same hour lol over 300 dollars when aqueon pushes same amount of water if not better its jus night and day the price range no im not being cheap its about quality n I had this pump for years now best 25 dollars spent best 300 dollar return back to store felt good returning it and telling the guy my cheap aqueon is better he was pissed lol then arguing with me he can't give my cash back only store credit litterly bought it 2 hours before sometimes fish store ain't honest
My original lights can already dim on their own. The issue is their max brightness has reduced since purchasing them and I could not tell until comparing it with a new light. Also, keep in mind that my camera was adjusting the aperture and exposure due to how bright it was so I could never really show how well it was lit.
Not sure a dimmer control switch would work, would they? Many LED type lights are off or on, brightness not controlled by amount of electricity being applied.

You need a you tube channel just to be able to afford these fish …. The prices are unreal ( just about goes for all fish )
This is not a cheap hobby bro. If you're worried about the price of fish you're in for a rude awakening.
