Winning a round can do something amazing like up all party pokemon IV's by 10, or give 10k pokedollars, or do something sucky, like freeze your whole party, drop stats/IVs, or worst of all, randomly trade one of your pokemon. The move toutors are ALWAYS worth checking out! Nothing like having a level 15 Heracross with Close Combat! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the awesome videos, since I usually can't catch you on twitch, I wanted to send you a holiday super thanks here. I look forward to your videos daily! Thanks for the awesome content and I can't wait for more!
Because of the Perma-Death nature of the mod, and the Super Cheat-y nature of the Gym Leaders, it's definitely to your own benefit to have a full team of 6 before you reach the Gym Challenge (believe me, you'll be going through Pokemon Teams like a you go through a Box of Tissues during Cold and Flu Season). The game already has plenty of Nuzlocke infrastructure in place, no need to add any more just to handicap yourself or make the game harder. :)
EDIT: I don't think you need to hold yourself back by only capturing the first 'mon you see each place, it seems like this mod is hard enough already. I'd like to see you capture what you want. Yes! I want multiple runs of this fan mod! Having seen it on PokeAsprey's channel earlier this week, this is the only way to make this game's content better, by having Jared play it. :)
Fun story; I only had one link battle back in G/S with a friend and my lead pokemon... Was Leftover Shuckle with Toxic, Sandstorm, Swagger and Rollout. It was the only pokemon of mine he saw in that match.
I would love this to be a long lasting series!!! And i would love if you wouldnt nuzlocke it and just catch every pokemon you find, since it will get pretty hard anyways towards the end of a run and i would love to see different pokemon.
Shuckle was also hype! What a great final battle and solid showcase of the kinds of tense, overlevel-proof encounters we'll get to see. Discovering the demise of two team members at the end is a fun dark twist. This seems really well done, it'll be a fun ride!
Hovering over the vid before I clicked and saw who you're going to get as a starter. This is as pretty much a perfect start as it gets for a Panther. Going to enjoy this ride. Also, 'Guts' is just funny to me. Ups attacks in suffering, pretty much Berserk in a nutshell. Love it.
I should play this too and share my experience here ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My starters were Doduo, Kecleon and Spinda. Great start lmao I chose Doduo, I think I can get more mileage with it The Doduo has Early Bird and Careful nature. Thats promising First dungeon(?), I go to Average Verdant There were Girafarig, Lotad, Tangela and Roselia Second dungeon, I go to Average Gloomy There were Absol, Roselia, Gulpin and Houndour I was curious how the game handle more than 6 Pokemons. So, I caught every Pokemon I saw and the game prompt you to release One nice QoL I found, pressing B in random battle will automatically run away Then, I went to the Mart Rest Stop because I was curious The area has Pokeball, recovery items and TM shop. Theres also a Name Rater I bought Shadow Ball TM as a future investment So, my final team before finding out whos my first Gym Leader is: Absol, Girafarig, Lombre, Gulpin, Houndour and Duduo And my first Gym Leader was Norman. I was a bit nervous because if he has Vigoroth, I could lose easily He opened with Kecleon. Honestly, I wasnt expecting that. My Absol barely took it out due to kinda bad judgement His second Pokemon is Tauros. After that first round went poorly, I gotten more nervous. I switched to Girafarig since it has pretty high defense stat... but of course the Tauros know Pursuit... Oof Actually, double oof. Norman going to spam Pursuit against my Girafarig, though Im banking with Confusion Unfortunately, Tauros is faster and my Girafarig was defeated. Then I sent out Gulpin and successfully took down Tauros His final Pokemon is Kangaskhan. I wasnt sure what its capable of doing, so I picked Yaw- Fake Out Oh Flamigo. Now I dont know if my Gulpin is faster or not. Ya know what? Send it! Yawn! Nope slower. But I know its another move, which is Bite. So, I sent out Houndour Oh... another bad judgement. Kangaskhan is quite tanky... half way through, I wishing for Burn. I didnt get it... but my Houndour got flinched instead. RNG at its finest Welp, I have Lombre and Duduo left. I sent out Lombre first to lower its Attack with Growl. The second time I go with Growl, that dang Kangaskhan got a crit. Thats sucks Reluctantly sent out Duduo. I dont expect I would able to take Kangaskhan out, therefore I continue with Growl strat... except my Pokemon got flinched... wow such RNG Although, it didnt do much damage. Feeling confident, I started Pecking it... except my Pokemon got flinched... again. Ok what the hell After few Pecks, I finished the fight with a Quick Attack. My god, that went horrible The game rewarded me with Cut HM. Ooohhhh, I see now Well, thats it for now
Looking forward to more in this series :) Good luck. It gets hard. Hard enough that you might want to change your mind on the 1 pokemon per area rule sometime down the road
Love to see you do a run of Inclement emerald, all Pokémon gens 1-7, level caps and much harder gyms. Been playing it and it's so much fun. Also Jared getting a Heracross starter is amazing xD
Mr. Jared, 🙏🙏🙏 Please Oh Please Continue This Game as a series!! I was 😂😂 so badly when Shuckle kicked butt!! SO my suggestion may be to max your team out like catch 2 pokemon per path NOW Thatcha know what you're up against That Way you'll be prepared for future gym leaders!!
I don't expect everybody to know everything about every game, but it was really funny that you said that "bubble is just a stronger water gun" with such confidence. Then the fact that you were wrong screwed you over against shuckle. A water gun would have taken it out. Bubble has 20 power, water gun has 40.
Ooooh. This could be a very long series! There is so much possibilities in this one, and not just Emerald pokemons, but every pokemons up to, if I remember correctly, sword and shield! There are also double battle mode and all that stuff, you'll have a lot of opportunities! I hope you'll have fun!
Dude! Not only am I down to see a rogue-like pokemon game, but anytime you're that excited/into a game is always gonna be a great time. Let's see more!
Never realized until looking it up due to this that shuckle had such high base def stats. Probably should've looked into some moves at the moves trainer tbh. Some multi-hit attacks would've taken him down a lot faster as you would always be doing 1 on him.
Super excited to see this. I've recently gotten into Pokemon Romhacks, specifically Pokemon Crystal Clean and Pokemon Unbound. I've had tons of fun with them and I might check out this one for myself!
I'd never heard of this hack before, but this is really fascinating. Wonder if they've tried similar on any of the newer games to give more access to more Pokemon (like the DS games namely). The realization that your Pokemon are just gone forever if they die definitely adds to the intensity, this should be fun
Reminder that Struggle Bug is not a physical move, it's a Special move. So the reason Drangh took so much damage was because his SDEF is not nearly as high. Hard to fight that gen 3 instinct of "all bugs moves are physical" though, so I get it. xD You also got REALLY lucky that Aerodactyl didn't know any Flying moves or he would've OHKO'd your Heracross easy xD
Totally stoked to watch you play pokemon anything lol but hey maybe let yourself catch some more pokemon if they are all going to get tossed if they feint, shoot they might toss them even if they havnt fainted we dont know yet
A lesser person would of been defeated immediately by Teddiursa's baby doll eyes and crying tears. But Jared is not that person, his quest to be the pokemon master is ruthless none will stop the bug onslaught. (except maybe three more Shuckles)
Jared did get the jackpot with the starter roll. But that really makes me ask: why not use a D6 instead of a D20? That would be easier to read and avoid wasting time on re-rolls. If you really want to be nerdy, maybe a D12? Those don't get used often enough.
This sounds fun. This is why I enjoy your content because it's always interesting or new like the doom zelda or even retro metal gear 2. I didn't even know they made a metal gear 2 on nes
I think I've replayed that Heracross pull more times than I care to admit. That's just sheer, unadulterated elation. Good to see. Better take care of that good girl.
Honestly for me I'm all about Pokemon and Zelda when it comes to your lets plays, idk it seems you know much about zelda randomizer and you are decent at Pokemon with added difficulty I love it.
So on top of hard battles to be ahead, we also have future moments or hype reactions. Yeah I am all for it. So definitely looking forward to see how this rogue of a pokemon run goes. Looking forward to the next episode!
I ended up downloading and playing like 3 runs of this before even finishing your video, my only complaint with the game so far is the lack of any post-Gen 3 Pokémon. Also, more episode of this? YESYESYESYESYES!!!!!!!!
100% want to see more of this, I don't think you need to restrict your pokemon catching though, it feels like you'll already be limited by pokeball scarcity, that said, I'd ultimately prefer to watch you doing what you want to do, so either or.
This is the content I didn't know I needed. I watched several hours, including a 4+ hour stream, of Hoodlum Callum play this. I've played for over 20 hours, little did I know that this combination would happen
I love Emerald Rogue. I would watch Jared play it forever. I really want to see him fully complete a run because you unlock a lot of cool stuff afterwards
I haven't been watching you as much as I like, Jerd. Time just hasn't made it easy. But this gives me the vibes of your FireRed Nuzlocke that made me fall in love with your channel. This'll be on my watch playlist for sure :)
YESSS! I've been playing this for several days now, was super stoked to see this. Also the gym battles get to be some bulllllllshid later on 😂 use any advantage you can. Also beware of destiny bonding delibirds!!!
This looks like an amazing time. The almost getting beaten by a Shuckle definitely gives some adrenaline edge to it. I’m glad that the fan community can make such fun mods. Keep up the amazing content.
Holy shitballs I love everything about this!! I'm stoked to see more of this series!! Love the auto-nuzlocke feel of it all. Keep up the awesome work, Jared & Vlad!!
This is great. I would give up on the one pokemon per area though. It is meant to be hard already with the limitations the mod puts in place itself. It only gets harder. 😂
Ah yes the monkey paw. Can't wait to see what kind of deal Jared will get and what will be the consequence for his wish (Since that's how the monkey paw work).
Dude what a hype Starter choice. Rolling before you even see the options, getting a beloved Pokémon. Honestly I’m strapped in for the entire run, this rules.

This hack is actually incredible and I'm OBSESSED. I just ended my first run at the 7th gym, and I can already tell I'm gonna lose TONS of time to this 😂
Loooooooool Jered massively underestimated this game. He will have to learn the hard way. You do not hold back in Emerald Rouge. No self imposed rules like one Pokémon per route. Game is hard enough as is!
Jared! There's a Pokemon Crystal key item randomizer and its AMAZING. I'd love to see you tackle this with the more advanced options. Love you, and love your videos, I've been watching since 2016
For future episodes, remember to think "Prep". At the moment you knew.... Drangh was toast, you could've pounded in those leers. Since Shuckle's base defense stats are so high, 1 leer shaves off a bit chunk on it's effective defense. I know this is just some comment that gives the whole "Backseating elitist player talking to a 'sorta' casual" vibe but It's not my intention. (I just recently got on that whole stat drop moves being worthwhile topic/argument somewhere else, but I didn't have an example... And then I see this.)
Jared as a bug type trainer, you should have known Stuggle Bug is SP Att. That is why it was doing so much to Kabuto and you could and should have swapped to Poliwag

Agreed. At least, I would say check out what's available and choose which one if he is hard set on one per area.
The game probably expects you to arrive at each gym with a full team so you have a diverse party, as well as some sacrifices if needed.
Jared: We're not gonna Nuzlocke it.
Game: Oh? Well, you're in for a surprise.

hope he really can go a lot further with this playthrough 🙏
That's not just any old Shuckle, it's Old Mold from Scykoh's Randomiser Nuzlocke series!
POKEMON ROGUE LIKE LET'S GOOOOOO!!
Saw the title of the vid. All I needed to get hyped.
“It’s a Pokémon Roguelike”
I…did not realize how much I needed this.
"Bubble is just a better Watergun"

Emerald rogue is so good, it’s unironically my game of the year
I’ve played so much of it
I’m glad it’s getting wide attention
Never heard of that mod, but i'm sure it's gonna be awesome
Start Jared - Oh, ok, I'm wondering how to make this more challenging
Shuckle - Hi, I'm 'challenging'. I'm about to end this man whole run
Dude, this is way more exciting than I thought it would be. I would love to see more!
Shuckle be taking revenge on UA-camrs for all those Dorkly vids.
So, I started this for myself, used a dice to pick starters, the ones not taken are Krabby and Oddish, the one taken... Was a Shuckle...
This hack is actually incredible and I'm OBSESSED. I just ended my first run at the 7th gym, and I can already tell I'm gonna lose TONS of time to this 😂

Jared as a bug type trainer, you should have known Stuggle Bug is SP Att. That is why it was doing so much to Kabuto and you could and should have swapped to Poliwag
This reminds me of Dragon Warrior Monsters on GBC and I love it!
Don't fuckle with Shuckle. This could be a great series. I'll have to check out the rom myself now.
I’m sold on getting this game. Can’t wait to see you playing!
You won the starter choice!!
wow never heard of this before, would love to see more.
HELL YEAH!! I'm so down to watch more of this
