Thanks for the review of what I've considered a great addition to my system. I am looking forward to BluOs 4 in the coming weeks that will hopefully make this great product even better!

I've bought a Node X as a streamer for in my office/game room. In my living room I have.a full set of Cambridge Audio gear (CXA81, CXNv2 and a CXC).
I love the Node X. It's BluOS app is excellent. Especially with the 4.0 version that was released this week. But mostly I am using it in combination with Roon. As Roon is serving my apartment here. Like the Cambridge it is Roon Ready.
It is my first Bluesound device, but definitely worth the 799 Euro.

How is the sound from the Cambridge cxn v2 compared with the node x? Bright and gepushed highest? Which sounds warmer?

Excelent review. Every detail was reported: hdmi, bluetooh lossy, air play max 48khz, Apple impossible integration...with reviews like this you now what you get if needed...
The product app is one of the most important feature in any product.
Today we like to do everything with the gear in a seated position in tab...so the gear must give us that confort.

I must admit, when I first bought the Node X, I wasn't very impressed by the sound. I bought the Node X to use with headphones but where the sound just wasn't pleasant to my ear. What changed my mind was using the Tidal app, instead of the Blue sound app. I don't know why but the sound did seems to be much better.
Currently, I have it connected to my Roksan K3 integrated amplifier and Focal K2 Aria 926 speakers, and it is a nice combination, and just run it through my phone.

Zeker interessant om te weten, er schijnt een lineaire voeding beschikbaar te zijn voor de eversolo m.e.
    Lijkt me een goede aanvulling.
Bedankt voor de video, en veel plezier in Veldhoven.

What Bluesound need is just a head unit without DAC just a lot of outputs (aes/ebu, coax, optical, usb) plus a couple of inputs so it can act as a streaming hub.

Mr. Hans, do you remember whether it is worth switching from Node 2i to N130 using linear power? The newer model sounds better, or are the changes marginal on linear power? I use an internal DAC and in the N130 model they added a newer version of the chip.

Hello Hans, first of all, thank you very much for your interesting reviews. At the time, I listened to you and purchased the PS creative power supply for my Node 2i. As I deduce, I am left as I am, the Node X is not worth it to me despite its improvements. What do you think if I add a first generation Dac Mojo, do you think it's worth the small investment? 😅

Hi Hans, another very informative video, thank you. If can ask you a question. So many people say you can improve the sound of a CD player with an external DAC. I have a Hegel H190 and noticed a big improvement when using the internal DAC of the Hegel integrated amp and using the Marantz CD player only as a transport. I'm skeptical, but in your opinion, do you think and external, quality DAC connected to the Hegel (not using the Hegel DAC of course) would give much improvement over the sound now from the Hegel? It is very general question, your opinion is valued. Thank you

Hi Hans, thanks for you reviews, do you know about some decent preamps or integrated that has HT in bypass/main in and also support Tidal Connect and Spotify connect? I have a hard time to find. I considered Primare prisma sc15 but it's going out of production it rumours and doesn't have Tidal Connect, I also consider Hegel H190 bit that also don't have Tidal Connect. Maybe a go around with a streamer that has Tidal Connect.. thankful for advice, my speakers is Xtz 99.26 and Sub Xtz 10.17 Edge the speakers is neutral and has binding plugs to tweak tune the discants..

I wonder what will happen with bluesound parent lenbrook buying mqa and it's scl6 scalable codec. High res wireless headphone listening at a low energy usage might just be an update away on every node from 2i on.
Hans, as always, so nice to see you giving an honest review, and not simply stating newest/most expensive is best. Thanks, once again.

As a streaming transport connected to an external DAC, is it worth it? Should I upgrade to a Node 130 or Eversolo from my Auralic Aries Mini?

    • @air870

In my opinion I see no reason to upgrade. Unless you are unhappy with the Aries Mini sound and believe you’ll get better from one of these devices. But if you can you should try and demo them to be sure. There’s also the important issue of exactly what you are using the Aries Mini for. Streaming from internet, radio, or listening to music from usb. Will the other devices do that better, are their apps better for your needs. For my needs (I like to shuffle my entire music collection which is on NAS or USB) then I find all apps I’ve tried to poorly implement this particularly remembering your shuffled list, you have to start again every time. Aries is poor at this since the playlist is stored on the device and is lost when it reboots or gets disconnected for some reason. Plus I have always been concerned at the long term support for their app and the lack of choice on the device you use for said app. If you have the budget and have itchy buying fingers then either one of your options seems to be a good choice. Blue OS is fairly mature so should be a good option (I didn’t like it albeit mine was one of the earlier incarnations). With the Eversolo you can get the Apple Music app which may be useful.

Time for NODE to grow up and make one with a screen like the Eversolo I traded it for. Rose set the new standard, Eversolo made it affordable, time for Bluesound to follow suit.

I agree the look and feel has a lot to do with over satisfaction, a touch screen with art although not totally necessary would still make someone feel better with the price

I doubt we will see a bluesound Streamer with a Screen soon since the only bluOS Streamer with a Display anounnced to knowledge is the Nad M66... The cheapest Screen being on the c700. Giving a Node a Screen would Scramble the entire Line or be a Joke pricewise

The Bluesound app is now well behind the curve with the cheap Wiim streamer app integrating more services more directly. The Node increasingly looks dated and overpriced. Wake up Bluesound, it's a fast moving market.

    • @Audiodreamer192-24
      @Audiodreamer192-24 10 місяців тому +2

😂😂😂 you can’t compare a wiim to the node for quality period! Never mind the X with sabre dac… quality timing crystals are expensive and that’s one big reason the node cost more then the wiim , with much cheaper ones and a lessor implementation over all. Blue os 4.0 comes out on the 17th which will best wiim software no problem…. All these people buying cheap Chinese streamers thinking they are the best because Randy goes on about them 😂😂😂 they are his biggest sponsor as well as others. Hans always says it like it is and is a very respected sound engineer not just an enthusiast like Randy and most others on UA-cam. Wiim is a decent cheap streamer for those who aren’t too fussy but in reality they have the same look ,feel and build quality as my android tv box 🤣🤣

@@Audiodreamer192-24 Well, most of that is crap. I never mentioned the Node's hardware. My comments refer to software. You have no idea if the new Bluesound software will better the constantly improving wiim software - it isn't out yet. Finally I own both a node 130 and a wiim so my comments are based on direct experience. I am not influenced by 'Randy' Your liberal use of 😂😂😂 laughing emoji sadly doesn't make any of your comments true.
I'm disappointed to see Hans thank you for a comment with so little fact and so much fiction in it. Perhaps he should re-read my original comment too. Duh!
