They have thick fur and large hooves for navigating through snow and ice and are excellent swimmers. They are known for their massive migrations in search of food and breeding grounds. These migrations are a remarkable wildlife spectacle. The Arctic reindeer is an amazing animal, adapted to survive and thrive in the extreme Arctic environment.

Any recently discovered animals maybe?
"They're like the GPS of the animal kingdom"
That must be why "Santa" hired them to haul his sleigh.
Why the FUCK did you put Santa in parenthesis!? Edit your comment and remove him from such right NOW!!
I bet it IS!!!😊❤️🎅
Lol
When my kids were young...the weatherman used to follow Santa on his radar!! OmG the kids went nuts over that lmao
🤣 good one 👍
santa is real why the quotation marks
That’s what I thought too!
I once got to pet one and its nose was so fuzzy! Such amazing creatures
Was it red?
I know right so fuzzy?!!
Do you live in the arctic region?

@@guichabanaano27 my man! 😏 🤝 😎
I’ve never wanted to boop a snoot so bad in my entire life
You can boop it on your screen lol.
@@augusts1 It’s not the same 😔😔😔
Snoop boop -- new rapper name
Scoop a poop
I booped a few the other week, rubbed the top of their snouts, as well as fed them lichen at a reindeer park in Finland ☺️ they’re definitely cute!
Their spread out feet that work like snowshoes make it look like they haven't grown into their feet yet like a puppy.
Fun fact: A domestic caribou is a reindeer, and a wild reindeer is a caribou. They are the same thing.
Thank you
Makes ya wonder why Rudolph is portrayed as a whitetail deer....
@@generaleerelativity9524 because not all people in the US know about caribou, but all of them know about white tailed/mule deer. It makes it more relatable for the main audience of santa shenanigans
Indeed in europe its reindeer no matter if it domesticated or not
@@scrubnoodle that's gotta be the most idiotic and ignorant response I could've hoped for. I'd say that it was probably easier and cheaper to make decorations that way, but there is a separate reason for the claymation episode of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer I just don't remember what it was.
Ok they have the cutest nose.
To me its amazing that you can put such an animal to work? Its a deer like animal but it is smart enough to cooperate like a horse.
A horse deer
Well, they are related to cattle, which can be used to pull stuff so...
A dear horse
They are very smart and have been selectively bred for centuries by the Sami to form attachments to their owners.
Without them the Sami wouldn't have survived in the far north of countries like Finland/Artic Russia etc.
They can survive on a diet of things like moss, tree bark that most herbivores ( other than those like bison) wouldn't be able to eat.
Their relationship with the Sami is pretty much a symbiotic one.❤
Imagine he said that their most impressive trait was their ability to fly 💀💀💀
Edit: thx so much guys, I don't think I've ever been the second most liked comment before!
Lmao you’re a fool 💀🤣
Santa give them power to fly
yeah santa
@Tsuki did in his vid on reindeer.. really good episode
nah, it's the animita muscaria mushrooms
Whaaattt? Everyone knows the most impressive thing about the arctic reindeer is their ability to fly.
I mean, come on now people. Let's get it right. 😂
🦌
Everyone aren't americans 😏😅
@@studiorestard I'm pretty sure their ability to pull a sleigh through the sky is known worldwide. 😉 🎅🛷
Lol.
I love these animal education videos.
Their fluffy noses are so cute.
One of the most remarkable traits of the arctic reindeer is their unique nose structure which is made so extremely fluffy by Mother Nature to match the human intentions to boop it. That's what I've heard by watching the video 😂
No no no. Their noses are so extremely fluffy to better enable them to fly. The extra fluff breaks the sound barrier so they can circle the globe in a single night.
I demand that you give this animal a cuddle please🥰
The difference between the reindeer and the caribou:
The reindeer are domesticated. They love in Europe and Asia. They have flimsy horns.
The caribou are wild. They live in Alaska and Canada. They have strong horns.
All the critters in this video are reindeer.
I love reindeer so much, I saw them "in person" in Finland.
I wondered the same as you with the distinction; they are not exactly the same as caribous but it seems to be a bit unclear what exactly the taxonomic difference is.
Not all reindeer are domesticated so that's not the crucial difference, it's geography.
Antlers. Not horns.
TIL that reindeer are actually domesticated.
In Alaska we also have reindeer, I don’t know if it’s still around, but there’s even a reindeer farm.
@@starling1226Haha yes, there are many Reindeer farms all over Alaska.
I just submitted what I want to see next! It was the Australian whites tree frog. I hope you do it 🤞
You forgot to mention one of their most unique features! Both males and females grow antlers, which makes them the only deer species where females grow antlers. Male antlers are bigger than females and shed off during the fall while females keep their antlers until the spring. It is believed that the reason why females grow antlers is to protect themselves during pregnancy in the winter and help find food easier as well.
Was looking for this!! It’s always intrigued me about them.
I'm from Finland and i actually take care of reindeers. And my all time fav is bull called Ailu. ❤️ He had huge antlers before he drops them. But he is so gentle with me, never even tried to hit me with his antlers. ❤️ such sweet man ❤️
Oil companies are currently trying to set up a pipeline that'll decimate these lovely creatures ecosystem.
Please call your congressperson and stop them from ruining the Earth.
I love the magnificent Arctic Reindeer! I'd like to visit Lapland one day and see them up close. Along with meeting the Sami people. This ancient tribe, indigenous to Scandinavia, still breed and herd Reindeers. They welcome tourists each Christmas and talk about their way of living off the land and co-existing with the environment. You can have a 'Santa'
sleigh ride experience with the handlers too. Anyway, it's on my bucket list of travel..
There aren't no reindeers on the North Pole though
@@CouncilRat Thank you for the correction! I don't live in the North Pole, so I'm unfamiliar with the wildlife in this part of the world! However, I must also correct your awful English/grammar... It should read there "ARE NO" reindeers IN the North Pole - Not there "aren't no" reindeers "on" the North Pole... :-/
@nicolelillis2077 It is good to correct people on their grammar because that's how they learn. Although you probably shouldn't say anything if you can't do it politely, because no one wants to learn new things if it comes with insults.
@@Servali Perhaps you should've bothered to read the comment that I originally responded to.? It was very rude and definitely not a constructive criticism of an innocent mistake I had made...Your comment is also sarcastic and condescending, so you should learn some manners before lashing out at others, you ridiculous creature...
God bless their fuzzy hearts 💞. Philadelphia USA
That’s really cool! Keep doing more animal videos please!!!
There is so much man has to learn about the animal kingdom..
I’m hoping we find a way to communicate with animals in the future.. they probably have the same kind of social issues/interests we do…
Mostly to LEAVE THEM ALONE!
“Unique nose”- feels insatiable urge to boop
"Harsh Artic climate"
Yo, we Finns live here. It's not that harsh 😭
Fun fact: rein deer are domesticated in Scandinavia where it is called Lapland, people living in Lapland are called Lapps or Sami, they use reindeer for milk, fur and meat
Beautiful video! Love it.
They are so sweet and cute I love them!!!!!😍
Sven and Chopper's Family!
Sven chopper and Rudolph the red nose reindeer
Did you know that all the Santa reindeers are female. Because male reindeer shed their antlers muuuuch much before the Christmas, and females leave it until they give birth to calves, which is somewhere after February. So they must be females if shown with antlers. Also all the real ones in malls are female. Rudolph has to change the name, the rest are somewhat ok, genderless names like Dasher and Prancer, even tho -er is in male gender. In french at least. Should be Prancerette
Those are American names
In Canada, those are how we get around lol.
Ah! Do you have a car called "The Caribou"?!! Like the Dodge Ram, but the Canadian Caribou?
“The arctic reindeer, also known as the caribou” - WARP SPEED!!!!🦌💨

“They’re like the GPS of the animal kingdom!”
Pigeons: and I took that personally.
Can you please make short about siberian dwarf flying squarrle, sorry about my bad english
They're also unique because, unlike other deer, females also have antlers
GPS of the animal kingdom 🤣🤣
Wow, they are all beautiful gorgeous animals.
Their hooves are splayed like snow shoes. You should have mentioned that.
Caribou are not rare. There are over 5 million of them in the arctic in numerous countries. Thankfully this species is not endangered yet.
I am real surprised that you failed to include the fact that Caribou hair is Hollow, thus creating more insulation
So beautiful. I love animals, mammals, fish, ect.
Fun: people eat, milk and farm reindeer. There are not many reindeer farms left though, at least in Alaska.
They struggle with climate change too. They can push powder snow out of the way to reach food underneath. They can't move ice from fluctuating temperatures to get to their food.
Eyy nice facts, except these cute bastards aint rare. Pretty much like sheep and goats elsewhere in the world, or stray non-stray cats
🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🎶Run Run Rudolf🎶🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Another fun fact: they’re the only deer with antlers on both sex while others are only found on males(ps the ones without antlers are most likely either young or shedded). Female reindeers have shorter antlers while males have bigger ones
Sturdy Mamals are actually not found in the Arctic but are found in New York.
Right there - in Times Square, on 42nd Street!!
@@belladonnatook8851 lol. Exactly.
I see God in all of nature. God created the migration animals to migrate.
They are also the only species of deer with domesticated members. Hence the name reindeer. They are deer with reins. They also taste good when braised and in a mushroom sauce
fun fact; reindeer will eat the amanita muscaria mushroom to get high, even digging through the snow just to find them. i believe the second is of a reindeer after getting high off shrooms
SVEN❤❤❤
Sven and Rudolph 🦌
That one that was all white with black antlers was bad ass
I own an arctic reindeer!
In adopt me… XD
Fun fact the poster didn't say: male reindeer lose their antlers in winter but females lose theirs in speing after giving birth. A reindeer in winter without horns tends to be male.
Meaning all Santa's reindeer are female.
Caribou / reindeer don’t have horns, they have antlers.
Cattle, buffalo, water buffalo, bison, muskox, sheep (domestic and wild), goats (domestic & wild), etc. These animals all have horns. These are permanent structures on the heads that are not shed. In the case of the large mammals, both the males and female have horns.
Elk, moose, deer, caribou/reindeer all have antlers. The antlers are shed annually and each year they grew bigger. Amount this group of 4 antlered mammals, the reindeer/Caribou are the only species where the female grow antlers. The other interesting fact is that the female does not shed their antlers in the fall like the males do. They shed their antlers in the spring after their calves are born. The reason the female keeping their antlers during the winter is when they are usually pregnant, and they use their antlers to dig in the snow so that they can find food to nourish themselves and their babies.
Nothing to doubt. Nothing to doubt.
Males and females have horns. The only deer to do so
Oh he's getting sturdy alright
Reindeers are better then people.
Who wants to ride a reindeer now 🎄 🦌 ❄️
Awesome looking when they run. Really booking! ♥️👍♥️
ohhh I need that nose in the winter time hehe
They run in the most clumsy looking way
I know, adorable!
Ohhhh they’re sooooo cuuuute!!!
Thanks for clarifying that the ARCTIC REINDEER lives in the ARCTIC, I was concerned they lived in the subtropical regions of the world 🤣
I want a pet reindeer and i wanna call it Sven.
Their furry snoots are adorablee 😊
Their noses look so fluffy🥺
Are there tropical rein deer 🦌
So that’s where most of santa’s missing reindeers went.
Reindeer can fly too
Gorgeous. No wonder Santa uses them for his sleigh. Nothing but the best for SANTA😁

Did you say Sturdy?
They taste so good too
They’re Incredibly Beautiful ❣️Thank You!!
Tony Tony Chopper
Forgot to mention that the males lose their antlers doing Christmas time.
Females lose theirs during spring (when they give birth to their beautiful calves)!

What a gorgeous animal!
There amazing! And so adorable ❤
“Other known as the caribou”
*I AM SPEED*
AND....They guide Santa's sleigh too!!🎅😊
Lol reindeer is so chill and calm and friendly towards human. And then you have the moose…. Not chill. Not calm. Not friendly. EXTREMELY FUCKING DANGEROUS
Please tell me at least one of those cute guys is named Sven-
Hahaha!
Wtf🤣🤣♥️♥️♥️ the way they runnnn 😭😭😭 that rain deer running at the beginning looks exactly like Sven from Frozen 🥺♥️♥️♥️
Their noses are neat but not unique. Human noses are filled with blood vessels which warm the cold air we breath, too. What's unique is their fluffy noses. Most deer have relatively thick skin on their nose that's kept wet by licking it, like dogs and cats
I think they mean these reindeer have even more blood vesels in their nose than we do to warm up the freezing air they breathe (I mean, when it's winter I know my nose isn't warm and the air going in is cold lol).
I don't know...my nose is pretty fluffy...
Happy Christmas 🇨🇮 Reindeer n Utuber🎉🎄⛄😎🧑🎄
Snow cow
Reindeer and caribou are actually slightly different. Reindeer are domesticated and caribou are wild pretty much
They're beautiful. Love all the special powers God gave them.

Are an extinct subspecies of reindeer
I believe the scientific name is "Floofy Arctic Deer-Puppy," but I could be wrong ❤
