Looks exactly like the BougeRV model, right up to the same handles on the top! To stop the Propane Tank from jiggling around, put a piece of styrofoam under the tank.
Everything is the same, but the BougeRv has half the battery capacity and a 60min run time vs 90’min, but does come with a wall inverter, which is nice.
Thanks for the review. Where did you see this unit will raise the ambient water source temp +70 degrees ? I read will only raise up to +45 which would require 60-65 degree water supply

It’s a 70deg rise above ambient with the campLux .. I mention the at 5:25 in my video.. I.E… If the water is 32° ambient, it will heat it to 102° the first pass.. we prefer 109° water for our shower, but 102° is sufficient

You’re exactly right and has definitely been a concern of mine… As far as the units go, nearly everything is exactly like the BougeRV, except the BRV has a smaller capacity battery with 30min less run time, but does provide an AC wall adapter. As for the elevation, my experiences with gas issues have been more with temperature than elevation… But as mentioned in my video, there are adapters that you can apply to the unit to use different canister attachments to better suit the environment/elevation. Unfortunately Liquid fuel is typically the best solution for high elevation (6000ft+).
@12:29 High vibration environments (e.g. any travel/camping event) will require a more stable support mechanism for the attached propane tank. A redisign of this feature will be required to improve the customer experience, ensure longevity of the product, reduce overall warranty support.
I would like to know what max elevation can the unit operate at? All units in similar category don't work above 7000ft. The Kakadu which is very similar and fron Australia can operate at 11000 ft. That is a game changer for those of us who consistently camp above 8000ft.
Working with compressed gasses is always going to present issues at high elevation or low temp. I looked at the kakadu unit and it’s fantastic! Some good casing design difference, but overall the same unit as the bougeRV and the camplux, and has a 2hour battery capacity . I read through their entire description and owners manual and don’t see anywhere that specifies capabilities up to 11k feet. This problem with high elevation in the gas evaporates before it can burn. So any compressed gas unit could have performance issues above 8k. Typically the only high elevation fuel is liquid based. For the 150$ savings I’m happy with the camplux, but I know I’ll need to be below the alpine line to have a proper shower. www.kakaduusa.com/assets/brochures/10001046.pdf

Per the instructions they advise against putting it directly into unfiltered water source. You’ll need to look into a Joolca if you want to go directly into a lake or stream. Q

hello we have a cabin with electric but no well or water source. we will bring our water down in 5 gallon jugs esp. in the winter. Can we plug this unit in the wall sockets to charge or use?
Yes, but you will need a separate inverter adapter for the wall. The unit only comes with a 12v socket plug. 110v AC to 12v DC converter amzn.to/3TljfWQ
Awesome video want to order. Tried using the 10% discount code on both websites and not working. Any suggestions on how to get the 10% discount to work? Thanks

@mrmajestic345 What do you want for a water source? direct from a garden hose? That is something that would be an easy modification and I may do that next to use this to give my dog a warm water bath outside in the winter. I have the Nano 3 Pro. I like it. I have made a few mods because I live in the SW desert and dry camp so all water has to be transported in so water conaervation is important. I have adapted it with a inline shower shut off then 1/2 npt to 1/4“ push connect. Now I can use it with Geyser sponges for water conservation. Also adapted the shower head to use a 1/4" of tubing with a female 1/2 to 1/4" push connector. You can easily change out from teh shower head to teh geyser sponge quickly & the push connect is easy to release & doesn't leak even after many uses (had this setup for the previous 2 years with a rinse kit pro). With the shutoff you can minimize the water to the minimum flow to maintain heating. I also added a valves 3/8“ hose barb Y to the outlet. So I can direct some back into a container, this also helps use minimal water all while maintining the minimum required flow through the heater. Since the heater heats bases on inlet water temp, this helps warm really cold water up first. I also plan to use the bypass to feed the split water into another container if the temp is warmer because otherwise the inket temp aenser max of 114 will trip. I have added a DC 5.5x2.1 port that is direct wired to the internal battery. This is because the outlet water is always heated. So in case your inlet water is warm enough & you don't want it heated or it trips the max inlet temp and then the unit shuts down including the pump. The direct to battery dc port allows you to plug the pump into that port & without the unit even turned on you can use it to spray unheated water direct from your container. If they had a switch to turn off heating completely but still use the pump & sprayer this wouldn't be needed. I am into modding things to make them work better for me & this machine is a compact water heating solution that is easily modified.
I’m still on the same bottle and have run it for about 45 minutes worth of showers… Typically, we shower for a collective 4 to 5 minutes. Bottle still feels like there is about a quarter to half left… I’d say you could probably go an hour or so..
Just out of curiosity...when you stop the water flow using the shutoff on the shower head, does the pump shut off or keep trying to pump? (Mine continues to pump and keep pressure). Other shows systems I have use a priming pump and only kicks on as flow is needed.
@GatorOverland thank you. I did see that mentioned in your video just didn't make the connection. Thanks again for taking the time to make a great video and answer questions.
@@GatorOverland.... To be Safe, put the garden hose into a Bucket or Container that the pump is in. That way, the pump can pull the water in at it's own pace. Remember.... there's electronics inside, and if it's set to pull in water at a nice slow speed, but you try avoiding the pump altogether, forcing water in at a higher rate that can't be controlled.... you might wreck it!!! Plus, what's going to happen when you turn the heater off but the water from your garden hose keeps forcing it's way through? That's probably the whole reason why there's a Pump controlled by the machine.
Question is there any limit of usage ? Does it overheats bec I’m trying to warm our small pool and might take couple hours to warm it up would the heater overheats?
As long as you had an adequate amount of propane I don’t why there would be an issue with a long term heating application.. you could put the water pick up tube in the small pool and the water outlet tube in the small pool as well and it will just circulate and as the water increases in temperature it will take less time for it to actually warm up.
@justindozone2160 agreed most is the year that is sufficient enough to save a few bucks.. can’t say I miss my solar shower unit now that I have this gas unit
The form factor is superior to anything else on the market, but the performance seems week to me, and the limited water source, is a deal killer, currently use a joolca system for the last 3 years, still very happy with it, if they went with that form factor, they have the killer shower system, even more so!
@rundms323 due to low availability, the code is only good for 24 hours is what they informed me… They will reinstate the discount code stock is increased
So far it’s lasted about 30 gallons of water and still about half a tank of fuel .. takes 6mins to drain 5 gallons … so 36mins of use so far .. I’d say near an 45min-1hour of use per tank
I’ve done about 40gallons of water so far with the one pound propane bottle .. still feels like in have another couple of uses before empty. 40gall/5gal bucket= 8 buckets Takes 7mins to drain the bucket. So 7min x 8 buckets is about 56 min of run time so far.. battery claims to be good for 90min and i haven’t needed to recharge it.. so sounded like things are on par.. with the amount of gas left I’m betting I could get another 20 min.. so assume 90min total run time per bottle and battery which is good.. we take 1-2min showers each so that’s a lot of use for us
I’m still on the same bottle and have run it for about 45 minutes worth of showers… Typically, we shower for a collective 4 to 5 minutes. Bottle still feels like there is about a quarter to half left… I’d say you could probably go an hour or so..
My jaw was hanging open when you said optimum temperature for a shower is 98° to 104° but before I could leave a mean comment you then said you said it on 109° and totally redeemed yourself 😂
I’ve been asked this before… Not sure if the pressure from a faucet would cause the velocity of the water to be too fast through the heat exchanger for it to warm up properly… Worst case you fill a bucket from the faucet and then operated it via the water pump from there.
I haven’t with this specific unit, but have with other propane accessories (jet boil, Coleman stove) above 8k ft.. could also be associated with cold temps as well, but definitely and efficiency difference.
Butane doesn't light well above 5-6K feet. I regularly camp at 10-11K feet & have never had an issue with my propane stoves or fire pit. But have with pure butane.
@@margyg i'm struggling to understand where you got the basis for that comment. I've used my portable butane stove countless times above 10,000 feet in Leadville even 12,000 feet at the Mount Lincoln trailhead in Alma without any problems.
@@MAXIMUSMINIMALIST I should have clarified, the issue is mostly with lighting if it has a piezio electric spark generator. I stopped bringing my refillable butane lighters & torches with my camping gear because I have personally experienced this issue & luckily I found and old school bic lighter in the truck. Especially bad in the morning is close to freezing. You wake up to make breakfast & they won't light. Eventually you may get one to light but they also use more gas & sputter to get there. The small gas canisters like what jetboil or the little burners like pocket rockets use are a propane butane mix to avoid these problems with one gas alone. There are many websites that will confirm issues with butane lighter or torches at elevation & cold.
Don't know if anybody is having the same issue as me but, after a a couple of minutes of use the unit throws an error code only able to be reset by turning the unit off and on again.
I did…and CAMPLUX Sent me a new unit. My issue was turning the temperature knob up even slight -prompted an error code….then having to wait ten minutes for the unit to cool down…only to get another error code. The second unit seems to work fine….so far! 😊
It’s mostly the same.. the bougeRV is less battery capacity (aka runtime) than the camplux, but it does come with the ac/dc converter to charge from the wall. You would Have to buy that separate for the camplux. I have the link in the video description 110v AC to 12v DC converter amzn.to/3TljfWQ
All that info is in the video description. There are many sources for the unit and the pricing fluctuates. Currently on Amazon it’s $359, but you could see it be on special price for Amazon prime day next week. Here’s a link for your convenience amzn.to/47P3JYJ
Placed my order on the 6th receive confirmation number. A week later receive an email stating they are out of stock and won't know when they will have a unit available for 5 weeks. So my only option are to cancel my order or wait for 5 weeks for news when they will be available. Even right now on this website it shows they have units available for sale and have a delivery date for a week and half. Very disappointed and I will be telling everyone to avoid this company. I put a one star review on their website and It never registered my review it appears they only put 5 and 4 stars on their website. Be careful with this company.
I’m sorry this is an issue for you, Karen. I encourage you to be patient and/or cancel your order for the time being. I don’t think it’s fair to give a one star rating and spread words about just because it’s currently out of stock and something you haven’t had an experience. These items come from overseas, and it typically takes a long time to go through the check-in process, especially since Covid. Same issue happened with my rooftop tent, it took 6wks to arrive. I can reach out to my Camplux contact for a better timelines of availability. Sorry for the inconvenience.
They can at least put back ordered on the website buy button. That practice is pretty misleading. Just look at bougerv at least they have put backordered
@jakemetz1742 I totally agree.. unfortunatly when buying from China and dealing with US customs it can be an issue of “you get it it when you get it”.. Special note.. the bogueRv unit is exactly the same unit but has a 2500ma battery instead of 4000ma, which is a 60min battery life instead of 90min.. either way it’s plenty of run time for a shower in the bush.. I do like that the bougeRV unit includes the wall adapter
I wouldn't post your review either and they are completely justified in not listing yours because it has nothing to do with the product just an rant by an unhinged Karen.
The on/off button on the bottom makes the unit terrible to use. You have to till the dam unit to turn it on or off. Why not put that button in the front with all the other switches and water inlets. And the 1 pound propane tank sticking out to far is not visually attractive at all. Those to small thing makes me not buy it. $500.00 bucks? No thanks The propane tank? Still terrible to have it hanging outside the unit. Might as well make that body housing a bit bigger with a small door to have the tank enclosed and not looking at it. Other units have that and are much less expensive. Also those metal loop handles are hideous and to big as well. Better if they add small side handles rather than those big half metal loops sticking to high above the unit. By the way… The button on the bottom of the unit should be a safety kill switch instead. That way if the unit gets knocked sides ways it will turn off the unit automatically.
Thanks for your input. I agree the tank out the back is not attractive, but for a compact unit it works. I do however like the Main power button separated. It insures (atleast to me) that it doesn’t accidentally get pressed when in transit if something leans up against it. I’ve had other electronics like my fridge and ecoflo power down unintentionally because somthing pressed up against the button. By having a switch on bottom, you know 100% that the Main battery is off. You can still power from other sources with that switch off.
@@GatorOverland still not satisfying factor as you can’t bolt it down to any platform. That button should be in the front. You don’t turn ON/OFF a water heater tank or a stove in your house from the bottom. Do you? Lol that button is a big flaw and it is an inconvenience to have to turn the heater sideways for that. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE Of course you can buy it if you like. The propane tank? Still a terrible engineering design to have it hanging outside the unit. Might as well make that body housing a bit bigger with a small door to have the tank enclosed and not looking at it. Other units have that and are much less expensive. Also those metal loop handles are hideous and to big as well. Better if they add small side handles rather than those big half metal loops sticking to high above the unit. Buy the way. The button on the bottom of the unit should be a safety kill switch instead. That way if the unit gets knocked sides ways it will turn off the unit automatically.
@ernestomoreno1847 I agree.. handles are on the top to deter the chance of burning your hands. As for the switch, it’s just a master off for the internal battery.. you could leave it on all the time if you wanted. Convenient if not is a failsafe Designed to keep the battery from depleting when you don’t want to use it and/or for storing. There aren’t may other models that are more attractive by construction.. others actually require big propane tanks.
@@GatorOverland no one in their right mind would dare to marry an attractive woman with an incredible amount of flaws. Yes the heater look attractive and those love handles still look awful and that battery switch should have been in the front. You are more likely to to forget the d button is under the unit and leave it on all the time and your batteries will be drained. Then what? Charge it. Right? Lol. No one will buy an electric car that has the ignition ON/OFF under the car. That is a big inconvenience. The guy that made this video just pointed the good stuff but disregarded the cons of it. A good/excellent reviews on this product would include well the pros and cons. The unit is a big improvement from the older models BUT… this new unit still can be improved more
It definitely could use some small improvements… I did point it out the cons at the end of the video talking about the attachment of the gas tank was a little wobbly and could use some more stability. I would rate it a 7/8 out of 10 for usage and inconvenience despite the flaws you point out.

Are the quick-connect fittings on the unit, and the hoses, plastic or metal?
They seem to be a high temperature thermoplastic.. the hose tubing is a really nice silicone as well… Much like I’ve seen in medical grade.
hello we have a cabin with electric but no well or water source. we will bring our water down in 5 gallon jugs esp. in the winter.
Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. We love it. There answer to the 10% discount code is low stock. It will be reinstated when availability increases.. sorry for the inconvenience 🤝
This is incredible information… Thanks for sharing
The owners manual says it can be charged by 110v but says do not use ac to dc converters. How would it be charged using 110v?
My only answer is with an AC/DC converter 😂😂🤷🏼♂️.. not sure how you could do it otherwise
excellent review bro. Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. We love it !
I have this exact same water heater, paid 200$ on Alibaba. Of course mine doesn’t have a name printed on it
That’s awesome to know! Have a link?
How long would that single 1 pound propane tank last if it were run nonstop?
I’m still on the same bottle and have run it for about 45 minutes worth of showers… Typically, we shower for a collective 4 to 5 minutes. Bottle still feels like there is about a quarter to half left… I’d say you could probably go an hour or so..
Just out of curiosity...when you stop the water flow using the shutoff on the shower head, does the pump shut off or keep trying to pump? (Mine continues to pump and keep pressure).
Other shows systems I have use a priming pump and only kicks on as flow is needed.
Shuts off after 2min of no use
@GatorOverland thank you. I did see that mentioned in your video just didn't make the connection. Thanks again for taking the time to make a great video and answer questions.
@danmulkiewicz5515 thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! We love this little unit
Anyone know where to get replacement quick/disconnect collars on the hoses?
Great video thanks
You bet!! It works great! We love it!
Does this have a mode to just spray cold water if you don’t require hot in a particular situation.
That’s a great question, I’m not sure.. might just leave the gas disconnected.. no fuel, no heat..
Nice. Thanks
Can you connect to a garden hose as well?
That is a good question… I have not tested this. As the element is triggered by water flow, I imagine it would work fine, but I am unsure.
I can agree with that method
Question is there any limit of usage ? Does it overheats bec I’m trying to warm our small pool and might take couple hours to warm it up would the heater overheats?
As long as you had an adequate amount of propane I don’t why there would be an issue with a long term heating application.. you could put the water pick up tube in the small pool and the water outlet tube in the small pool as well and it will just circulate and as the water increases in temperature it will take less time for it to actually warm up.
Thank u for all the help the video helps a lot!
Couldn’t agree more! Joolca is the tip of the sword
Just a question is there a way of venting this temporary use indoor
Just route the shower hose to an area away from the main burner unit
Yes. Open your windows.
Hello, can this be recharged with a solar panel?
If you have an interface between jacks for the charger I don’t see why not.
Nice video, wanted to purchase on Amazon with your discount code. The code is stating "not valid". Please help
I will inquire about it, thanks for the heads up

So how long does a 1 pound bottle last?
So far it’s lasted about 30 gallons of water and still about half a tank of fuel .. takes 6mins to drain 5 gallons … so 36mins of use so far .. I’d say near an 45min-1hour of use per tank
How long of ACTUAL runtime/use have you put on/ran this unit ?. In minutes/ hours / days.
I’ve done about 40gallons of water so far with the one pound propane bottle .. still feels like in have another couple of uses before empty. 40gall/5gal bucket= 8 buckets
Takes 7mins to drain the bucket. So 7min x 8 buckets is about 56 min of run time so far.. battery claims to be good for 90min and i haven’t needed to recharge it.. so sounded like things are on par.. with the amount of gas left I’m betting I could get another 20 min.. so assume 90min total run time per bottle and battery which is good.. we take 1-2min showers each so that’s a lot of use for us
@@GatorOverland 56 minutes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Flowing23 yep still doing great. Haven’t camped more to allow more time.. what answer are you looking for ?
Great video
Thanks! Great product!🤘🏼
How long does a 1lb propane tank last on this?

@craigshandworld 🤝🤝
Looks identical to the Bouge RV version.
For the most part it is.. has a 4000mah battery capable of 90min instead of a 2500mah capable of 60 min
My jaw was hanging open when you said optimum temperature for a shower is 98° to 104° but before I could leave a mean comment you then said you said it on 109° and totally redeemed yourself 😂

Anyone test how long a small propane bottle lasts?
I’ve done about 40gallons of water so far with the one bottle .. still feels like in have another couple of uses before empty.
Can that connect to an outdoor faucet?
I’ve been asked this before… Not sure if the pressure from a faucet would cause the velocity of the water to be too fast through the heat exchanger for it to warm up properly… Worst case you fill a bucket from the faucet and then operated it via the water pump from there.
@@GatorOverland good point. Thanks
Has anyone used this at altitude yet? Propane typically struggles to light at higher altitude and have seen other camplux products struggle with this
I haven’t with this specific unit, but have with other propane accessories (jet boil, Coleman stove) above 8k ft.. could also be associated with cold temps as well, but definitely and efficiency difference.
Butane doesn't light well above 5-6K feet. I regularly camp at 10-11K feet & have never had an issue with my propane stoves or fire pit. But have with pure butane.
@margyg thanks for the valuable info!
In about an hour total if and still in the same gas canister I haven’t experienced this. What is the error code?
I did…and CAMPLUX Sent me a new unit.
My issue was turning the temperature knob up even slight -prompted an error code….then having to wait ten minutes for the unit to cool down…only to get another error code.
The second unit seems to work fine….so far! 😊
This is like the twin sister of BougeRV heater. I guess China makes them from the same factory except the Branding.
It’s mostly the same.. the bougeRV is less battery capacity (aka runtime) than the camplux, but it does come with the ac/dc converter to charge from the wall. You would
Have to buy that separate for the camplux. I have the link in the video description 110v AC to 12v DC converter amzn.to/3TljfWQ
How much is it
All that info is in the video description. There are many sources for the unit and the pricing fluctuates. Currently on Amazon it’s $359, but you could see it be on special price for Amazon prime day next week. Here’s a link for your convenience amzn.to/47P3JYJ
@eddy-vanismovk5.6 I’m not sure, only a few days from prime.. I guess we will see.?!
@margyg truth 😂😂🤘🏼🤝

Well done!
Thanks!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
No thanks
The propane tank? Still terrible to have it hanging outside the unit. Might as well make that body housing a bit bigger with a small door to have the tank enclosed and not looking at it. Other units have that and are much less expensive. Also those metal loop handles are hideous and to big as well. Better if they add small side handles rather than those big half metal loops sticking to high above the unit.
By the way…
The button on the bottom of the unit should be a safety kill switch instead. That way if the unit gets knocked sides ways it will turn off the unit automatically.
TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE
Of course you can buy it if you like.
The propane tank? Still a terrible engineering design to have it hanging outside the unit.
