I bought the BougeRV about 3 weeks ago and have been putting it to the test at home here. I have been testing the water temp and charging when the battery gets low. It really does work great but the one thing the instructions don’t mention is if you don’t intend on using the unit in a day or two, you should turn off the main power switch at the bottom. If you leave it on the battery will drain. After a week or so you will find the battery will be dead. In one case, my battery was drained so low that it would not take a charge and it wouldn’t turn on, even with the power cord plugged in. After messing with it, it finally started to take a charge. I would say after using the unit, turn the main power switch off on the bottom. This will save on the battery. Keep in mind the main power switch does need to be on if you intend to charge it.
Yes, I turn off my main power as well. I make sure everything is off and I also remove my propane bottle too. Thanks for commenting, that’s good advice to our viewers! Glad that you like your system!
@@craigshandworld I'm going to say it will last about 10 or 15 showers. But I have to say, I brought it back home from the cabin because it stopped working!! The flame goes out after 5 seconds. This is with a new tank of gas and cold water going in so it's not over heating. Need to run more tests but I will be writing to the company to see what they say. Piss me off. Expensive and I probably have used it less than 10 times. Maybe I should post more when I figure things out.
@@hovlandbound Looking forward to hear more about what they say about it. Thats frustrating because this seems to be the best portable option we got. I will for sure need to pick something in the next few months.
So,,,, I bought the BougerRV to replace the old Coleman that broke down last time at my cabin. I have a off grid cabin with only water collected from the rain off the roof into a large barrel outside that is gravity fed into the cabin. We are always carful of not using any more water than what's needed. The BougerRV has a very cool feature that the old Coleman does not have. When you turn off the waterspout at it turns off the water flow and also the gas shuts off. Saving on gas and water. Then when you turn the water back on the system senses this and the gas burner turns back on. Very cool feature. But be carful not to get the water temp up to 122 degrees F or it will shut of and you will need to fire everything back up. The secret is to have cold water coming into the unit. A big thumbs up for BougerRV
Be sure to turn off the master switch when done as well so it doesn’t drain the battery. Yes it’s a great unit, I’m glad you like the heater, I love mine! I started a second channel called Gumbie Gear and will have mainly gear review and testing products. Check it out!
Kakadu makes a padded water heater bag for their version that fits the Bouge water heater perfectly. It has enough room for the accessories also. I kept some of the foam padding from the boxes the Bouge came in to make a nice soft surround for the propane bottle when attached to the heater.
I purchased the rack and carrier for my first camping trip this weekend! Love it! A couple people asked me where I purchased them, so I referred them to the BougeRV Amazon store. I love how the storage bag can be stored in such a compact way! I wish BougeRV would have included the Camping Water Heater for Mother's Day Sale....as a mom, I would have asked for that! 😁 Your video here says that the price is $299 on the website, however when I went to the website, the price is $359.99. 🤔
I am glad that you are happy with the product! I hope you have great adventures with it! Thanks for subscribing to the channel as well! Where are you located?
Thank you for the video, it was very helpful because I was going to order one and don’t always trust the Amazon reviews 😂. Someone mentioned about the overheat shutoff and on Amazon, there is an excellent review that states what’s going on and how to fix that. As far as the gap between the propane bottle and the table, I am going to just use some pallet boards to make a little stand. Finally, I’m going to get the refillable 1 gallon propane bottles and the refill “station” to save some money 😊. Again, thank you for the excellent video, it is appreciated.
I actually got my an 5lb to 1lb adaptor and and run a hose now and don’t have any issues with it. Between the Camplux model this is definitely the best unit hands down. Thanks for checking out the video. I have a gear review channel also called Gumbie Reviews which I just started for this type of stuff, check it out!
Excellent video! I really needed this, and thank you for pointing out the idea to use a zip strap to save the propane connector. This saves me a load of sanity not having to run a who complicated hot water system in our van build. I particularly like the portability. On hot Summer days, I'd rather do dishes in the shade and breeze of a park bench. Happy camping! 😃
After viewing this video I plan to purchase this item. What I would do when I'm finished using this item, I would run distilled water as a final rinse to ensure hard water deposits never accumulate anywhere in the internal parts.
To save you some money use the discount code in my description box. I normally take the hoses off and hang them over and drain them. Tilt the unit at an angle and let it drain. I don’t use any distilled water but you can if you want. I e never had deposits in mine.
Mine is just north of junk. IF you get the flow and temperature just right, otherwise you'll have to restart it several times to get thru a shower. It does use a lot of water!
We normally don’t run it constant, we take baby showers when we are dispersed camping. Or if we are near a river or lake then we run the pump straight into the water source and then we let we rip! We keep our temp about 70-80 degrees, I can’t use it more than that unless we are doing dishes to get grease off. Don’t know why you have to start it several times, have you called tech line for guidance? Several of us have this unit and it’s been trouble free since then. I hope you can figure out the issue, keep me posted
I got mine in and tried it out today. No problems. My inlet water temperature was 68 degrees. No error code. Im going to try it out for the next week everyday and see. Will try with cooler water too. Question - can the water source be a lake or stream? Thanks.
That’s awesome! If your using a steam or lake, be sure to install a filter to the inlet. You don’t want debris getting in the unit. Keep me posted how the stream or lake works!

nice video and seems like a great product .. I'm curious in terms of water intake .. can you attach a pressurized water source, like from a hose or from a water tank on a teardrop camper (pressured w/ it's own water pump) or does the water source need to come from the existing water intake hose w/ the BourgeRV water pump to intake water? thanks
The model I use has a submersible water pump that I have in a 10 gallon tank in my camper. It pumps about 3pm and provides plenty of pressure. It’s a great unit!
