      Marianna Kovalev I’ll be so happy to help. When the time comes I’ll give you more info on places to ski and such. Lodging I always like the Robinhood resort and best western up here however I strongly suggest booking an Airbnb. I have been doing that for my mom when she arrives up here to visit. Get way more than you pay for. Midweek especially.

    Great vid. Thank u. I’m going up there this weekend with the grandkids. Hopefully there’s still some snow. Can you recommend a spot for them to play that’s not to expensive?

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  6 років тому +1

      V R so honestly it’s hit and miss. What I suggest is gong to Moonridge and sneaking on to the golf course. It has loads of snow still and easy to make snow angels and build snow man. There are 2 snow play areas in town but they charge. Not too expensive but stay close to the resorts cause more
      Snow is near the resorts.
      Best of luck honestly just try to drive around in the areas where there is snow and if you see a little hill that looks comfortable for your kids how fun just make sure you guys be careful

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  6 років тому +1

      V R hahahahaha. OK so I had a feeling my response would demand a response like that at least so basically just park in the neighborhood across the street anywhere that you can park and just walk onto the golf course there are so many different areas from which you can get onto the golf course I suggest closer to Bear Mountain is the best area to sneak onto the golf course and I wouldn’t necessarily call it sneaking onto the golf course because I always see people out there with their kids. God forbid you get arrested though. Lolololol. I’m sure you would be fine they understand people want to play in the snow that’s why we have any economy up here is because of the winter time

      I'm Jerome and YES, I can fix it! Well hello bro. And yes we have 2 sledding spots in town with elevators and such that take you up. It’s really cool.
      Have fun and be safe. Much of the snow is gone though. However the sledding areas have plenty of snow still.
      Be safe and hope your kids have a blast.

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  6 років тому +1

      Gerald Tilley the resorts will be open for sure regarding snow in town I am not hopeful. It’ll be cold but no weather in the near future.
      Costs. So I worked there at Bear last year and it was about $100 per adult pass. Don’t quote me though. And renting skis about $30 to $40 per set and the ski clothing I’d expect to spend about $200 conservatively. It’s costly dude. Make sure you have glasses with you when skiing. Snow blindness issues are real. Especially with all the bluebird days we receive annually.
      Take care man. Hope that helps.

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  6 років тому +1

      KevinEssence OK so you would need to purchase some warm pants that are going to be water resistant and some long underwear for your bottoms and a top a sweater and a jacket a beanie sunglasses two pairs of socks preferably one pair of regular cotton socks and other very thick winter socks. I can refer you to a rental agency I don’t know if they’ll give you a discount but I trust them in renting skis is probably 20 or 30 bucks so it’s not cheap and believe it or not only 15% of people actually come back here after they’ve been here once because it’s very expensive and people have a bad time skiing the first day and they don’t want to come back I learned that at orientation working for Bear Mountain last year

    • @bigbearweatherandmore6621
      @bigbearweatherandmore6621  6 років тому +1

      @@bigbearweatherandmore6621 So there are something like 35 Yellow Post sites in the backwoods off Forrest roads that you can camp for free, there are no services. Just a picnic table and fire ring. You need a 4x4 or AWD a little more ground clearance than a car. The sites are marked with a yellow post and the # of the site. There is a map of them for reference. I was curious with how much snow on those Forrest roads.

      Agustin Alarcon well worst case the resorts will still be open cause of snow making. That’s only if we don’t get anymore snow by the dates you seek. Even if town has no snow left, the resorts will. I hope that helps but early January is prevalent with big storms. Let’s hope that happen this next January

    We need more snow...its very sad that we can not compare ourselves to mammoth or tahoe quality....but whats is more disheartening is that realization that the beatiful man made lake that is big bear will eventually dry up...the ski resorts sucking up water to make fake snow

      FmXsTaR Agreed but a lot of that water goes down to Redlands unfortunately it’s really strange big bear can’t use that water because Redlands has the rights to it. The resorts do use it to make the snow and yes I wish this was Mammoth or Tahoe. It would be so nice to have a 300 inch season

      From my fairly well researched knowledge, a seasons snow making cost the lake about 3.5 inches of water level. Then about an inch or inch and a half makes it way back into the lake. So call it a few inches of total lake loss. No, that's not good, but it's not as bad as some people think. This was according to the Big Bear Municipal Water District.

      Chad Schlotterback chad. That’s amazing information bro. I didn’t know that. Didn’t realize it takes about 3 inches out. That’s a huge amount. Thanks for the information man.
