@@blancaguts as a current masters level psychologist in nj, I suggest the lcsw or school psych. in most states you can't work independently nor get hired easily because you don't get a license unless you get your doctorate (for counseling/clinical). I work with social workers everyday and they're always in demand. Just a little advice from someone who's realized how limited psych can be. I'm transferring to school psych since it's more up my alley.
This video was so helpful and interesting to me! I am a high school student, and I have wanted to work in psychology since I was like 7 years old lol! I have always been fascinated by the brain, and absolutely love observing/problem solving. Now that college is around the corner for me, Im trying to center my focus and explore more specific careers in the field. My mom is actually a school literacy coach, and has always said I should look into school psychology, but I was never sure what exactly it entailed, because like you said its not widely talked about! Thank you so much for all of the helpful information, it made me really excited to learn more about this career path!
Thank you so much for doing these. You gained a new follower. I am starting graduate school in the fall for school psychology Ed.s degree and videos like this are so helpful!
I’m currently about to finish my first semester of my program for School Psychology. I’m so glad I came across this video - I was curious as to how the position has been impacted by COVID! Subscribed and sending love from NJ 🤍
Thinking about applying to school psych for grad school! Very confused on if I should or not! So you said school psych is predominately reports? Are there any positions where you get to interact more with the students??
That’s a great question! The school psych role is very large, I just work in a district where I mainly do assessments (testing and report writing). But I’m trained in counseling, dealing with crises, creating MTSS, etc! So your roles will depend on where you work
Thank you for making this video. I’ve been thinking about going back to school for my masters. I’m heavily considering school psych so this was a very helpful and informative video!
Hi I'm about to graduate next semester with my psych degree and am highly considering school psychology. You're the only person on youtube I've come across that works in a High School rather than Elementary grades. I'm really interested in working with High Schoolers. Do you enjoy this age group? How different is it from working in an Elementary School?
I absolutely love working with adolescents! I was actually thinking about making a video about the different roles of elementary and secondary school psychs, I’ll film that soon!
Can you shoot next video in your office ?😊 How many hours you have to work in office a day and also how many days in a week you work ..do you get off days?? 🤍
I am a school psychologist. It's not a job that's well-suited for someone with a hyper-sensitive personality, like me. Personally, knowing what I know now, I never would have chosen this career.
@@aprilterry386 I feel as I have the same personality. Can you explain more about your experience in this role? It would really help my decision if I would or wouldn’t want to choose this career after my undergraduate degree
Hi! So I have two laptops. I have my own personal laptop which is a 13” MacBook Pro and a work laptop which is an HP (not too sure what the exact make is, but it’s not one of their newer touch screen ones)
@@rachelferagne2188 thank you! I'll have to look into the HP because I hear they are good. I have a chromebook and it freezes or kicks me out during meetings or while I'm doing work...very frustrating! Also, thank you for posting your videos. I'm considering switching my career from a school adjustment counselor to school psychologist 🙂
Hi! First and foremost, I love your videos! I'm doing a project for my careers in psychology class and the project consists of interviewing someone through email to interview them about their profession, would you be interested?
Thank you so much! I am trying to decide if I want to go for my masters in School Psyc, Social Work, or Counseling!! This is VERY helpful!!
Thank you! That’s exciting, good luck!
Me too! I go back in forth between psychology and lcsw
Me too! I keep going back and forth on each program.
Same can't decide

Love this video! I’m a school psychologist in New York. It’s so nice seeing someone talk about our role! Not many people know about our profession.
Thank you!

ooooo super cool vid. Could you give advice for how school psychologists could also do therapy on the side? If you do know.
Sure, I was thinking about doing a video soon about jobs you could do on the side!
