    This is suchhh a great channel! Thank you for going into the specifics of the job and always being super concise and clear about the nitty gritty parts of the job. It's so so helpful for giving an in depth portrayal of the field!

    it’s a relief that you also struggle with public speaking. I, myself, dislike the thought of speaking in meetings or giving presentations. That was one thing that made me doubt pursing school psych but thank you for reassuring me that it does get better over time! Still deciding if I want to do school psych or school counseling. I love the assessment and testing aspect of school psych but I also like being able to help the general student population as a school counselor. So hard to choose!
    I do want to ask if you ever had a student who was violent or aggressive? that would be another concern of mine. I’m sure this goes into crisis intervention but just curious if you ever experienced it? Thank you

    Thanks for the videos Rachel. I'm trying to go back for EdS after not teaching a whole lot-- we'll see if I can get in.
    I like what you're saying about tension in meetings-- sometimes I struggle with inferior feeling function stuff so I'm thinking about best versions of myself to bring to those situations. I think those things will improve once I'm in an interesting environment again though.

    Hi Rachel, in New York we don’t have any requirements after receiving our permanent licenses. It varies so much from state to state. Loved this video!

    What about when parents are racist and contentious because parents see you as beneath them; yet you come giving advise regarding their children? 🤔In Virginia, I experienced racism, though my ex is white and I have a half white child who is diagnosed with high functioning autism. I like helping people, especially those with autism, learning disabilities etc but because of my experience with intense racism thus far, I am nervous about going where my heart is leading to. 🤔

      @@rachelferagne2188 how stressful is the job? Do you also find yourself bringing work home a lot? (I’m very nervous that I won’t have a work-life balance.)

    Thanks for your videos, they are so helpful. What percentage of my week would I expect to be doing writing-based tasks if I went into school psych? E.g. report writing, emails and so on. Thanks in advance for your reply, it's so hard to find specific information like this online.

    Hello Rachel did you fear being in a professional role? I currently work as an RBT and considering grad school. I work alongside BCBAs all the time but I fear being in the driver’s seat. If you’ve ever felt this way, what helped you gain confidence?

    • @rachelferagne2188
      @rachelferagne2188  3 роки тому +1

      This was a big fear of mine at first, but it’s always nice to know that I have other school psychologists I work with who I can ask for help when I’m feeling unsure about something!

      I feel the exact same way and officially became an RBT in October.

    Thank you for sharing ! I just completed my first year as a school psychologist and I still struggled with public speaking and getting nervous before meetings. Do you have any tips on what helps you with the presentations?

    • @rachelferagne2188
      @rachelferagne2188  3 роки тому +2

      Congrats on completing your 1st year! I always like to print out my report before the meeting, read over it, and highlight the main things I want to mention. Prepping beforehand always helps ease my nerves a little!

    Are there a lot of comprehensive roles available? I don’t love report writing so I am a little nervous about it.

    • @rachelferagne2188
      @rachelferagne2188  3 роки тому

      Definitely! I'd say more often than not most school psychs do a comprehensive role. I enjoy assessments most so that's why I wanted my current job :)

    How many people are usually in meetings and who?

    • @rachelferagne2188
      @rachelferagne2188  3 роки тому

      The parent(s), the student (if over age 14), the school psychologist, any service providers (special education teacher, OT, speech/language pathologist, etc.), and a facilitator who runs the meeting. It can range from 4 to over 10 people!

    Hi I am a grad student. I was wondering how do you log those 150 hours? Do you just print the certificates as proof or do you have a platform to log them?

    • @rachelferagne2188
      @rachelferagne2188  3 роки тому +1

      Right now I am logging them on an Excel sheet I created. I believe once your time to renew your license is up (when the PD is due), you show any proof you have to your supervisor and they sign off on it. I keep proof of certificates or email receipts showing I did them!
