i got one and run with a 462 sonic maximizer, an EX inferno distortion pedal, a little 6 band EQ and a metal zone for boost, and the thing is just killer, i love this amp man
Yes its good with anything. Such a versatile amp you can literally get any tone not saying that any tone is gonna sound good but if you wanna use a overdrive pedal I recommend going light on the gain and kick the tone and volume to get punch.
I have this amp and csnt get thst tone...every time I try and it's muddy and awful. Could it be the pedal I'm using? Ive played with the settings on b9th the amp and pedal... what pedal are you using or not at all? Do i turn my settings on my amp down or pedal? Frustrated. Esp3xially when I'm trying to play white zombie half step down or Alice in chains...i don't have a pedal in the effects look it's plugged in front because I'm short on cords. I'm using a digitech tl2
You should use an overdrive pedal with the overdrive channel. I don't recommend being the guy who throws a boss metal zone pedal in front of the amp on the clean channel lol. Use the overdrive channel and and the overdrive pedal together and crank the volume and tone and stay off the gain with the pedal. The Amp has plenty gain to get that kinda sound.
Flippy Noodles11 yes I believe so I sold the amp two years ago it wasn’t cutting it live with another guitarist but I used it for a few live shows but yeah good amp I just recommend pedals with it and a noise gate
I bought an RG80 back in 1980 when they were made in Orange County and used it to try to sound like Larry Carlton and John Scofield.

Sounds awesome to me, one of the best solid state amps made.
Sadly I got rid of the amp but later on I made it sound a lot more beastly haha
@@drystanbarnett503 how’d you make it sound good? It sounds pretty bad with my medium output pickups even I boost it. I can’t get that much clarity
Thanks for this, looking to buy this little beast for some metal crunch!!
I'm gong to Buy one of this....It seems very aggressive
I have a 1983 RG 80. The new ones don't come close unfortunately. I'm not sure why they can't build it again.
id love to test out an old one thatd be badass
Go check out my other video on my channel! I uploaded another studio test of the amp with a diff tone.
hi there, very nice sound..tell me..what about clean channel? is that so clear? ..i need it to play with my boss gt10
It's enough loud to use in small places?I wish to buy an play with a band
Erick Moreno its not as loud as a 2x12 cab combo type deal but its loud enough. Ive used it twice live and once you get a mic on it its loud enough
GuitarmanDB Thank you!
does it react good if i use overdrive pedals ?
Mirko Burroni i use a dime distortion through it, sounds great but the buzz is terrible when not playing

Is an overdrive pedal different than a distortion pedal? And would u recommend a noise gate?
How big is this amp??? Inches tall? Inches wide?? And is it a heavy amp?
Not sure of the exact measurement haha but its 1x12 80 watts pretty loud but not that heavy, easy to carry
@@drystanbarnett503 thank you. It has an input for your phone to jam out to music with right?
