It's refreshing to see a channel that isn't centered around politics, religion or whacky conspiracy theories. Instead it's centered around a guy doing what makes him happy.
I just got a huge Crate bass head and 2 Crate 12 inch box woofers given to me recently...let's just say I have "neighbors" I never knew about lol (the old people up the road from me that live a half mile away came pulling up in my driveway to, eh hem, "compliment" me)
Mannnnnn I remember seeing you play Through the Eyes of the Dead and I couldn't have been any older than 13 I'm 25 now and just have been on a huge nostalgia trip - been a subscriber for well over 10 years now, and I'll pop into your channel to see whats up every now and again whenever that video pops in my head hahaha. It makes me really happy to see you're still doing your thing full force and hear you'll be getting on a stage I wish you the best of luck man, please post videos for us to see the performance! Cheers
I love finding out thrashed out amps. a lot of people I work on music with are pretty snobby about the shit they use, they're dead set on using digital modelling or some high dollar tube amp. The face they make when they realize how good an old Crate or an old Peavey sounds is always priceless.
I LOVE Crate amps. I had two of them. A 2-12 combo and and a 3 channel half stack. They freakin' ruled. I would love to get that half stack back. It was and has been painful that they went out of business.
@Der_Mantie very true but you know how guitarist are …especially when you first learning….I mean basses are never as snobby except about using pick lol
I have a Crate Power Block, I keep seeing it in pro rigs on those rig videos. I have a stereo cab for it. Great for using with preamps or software even. I found a couple of companies make a DI for filtering digital device noise, 70-100$. It’s a killer rig for low$$
Marty is an awesome dude! You're right as hell. Every time I go in there, I leave with something. Been going there since I was a kid man. Much love for Michigan metal!
Motor City Guitar is the best !!!!! Great find , I always liked the Crate products , I have a BVH 150 Scott their amp guy re-tubed it for me not to long ago. Great vid !!!!!!
Oh man, I love me some crate! The first amp I bought myself was an ampeg sst I found on reverb, which was just a preamp so I needed something to run it through, and found a nice crate bx440 in my area I got and wow that is a lot of power for a guitar! Running it through a bass cab sounds really cool, so much low end! I once accidentally turned it on when it wasn't plugged into the speakers and my heart sank, I thought I broke it, but my friends told me that only happens with tube amps, and it's still working to this day so I guess I lucked out on that one. One of these days I'm gonna have to try and find a crate shockwave, because a 300 watt guitar amp just sounds like too much fun to pass up!
I had a Crate halfstack back in 1999. Was either this head or the GT200, can't remember which. I got it at Mike Carey's Music in Taylor, MI for $50 then. I miss that amp lol. Brought back some memories, thanks man. And glad to see another Detroit area metal player!
When i go home on leave from the Navy i check that place out, see what Jacksons they got. Been watching you for over 12 years and just realized that you’re in the Mitten.
I like Crate amps. I have a first gen blue voodoo 60 and 4x12 with the matching blue tolex and a blue voodoo 120 also with the blue tolex. I love them. They sound great once you get rid of the cheap oem speakers and they're built like tanks.
Being a man who recently got my hands on a 'Marshall 1992 LEM', i can feel your happiness/excitement. Now all i need is the 'MF280L' to complete the set.
still have a complete american made full crate stack, had to pawn off the head back in the 90s unfortunately so this was a blast from the past to witness.
I giggled at this one Kev. I had a few of the Crates and you're right about the brutals we get out of them. I found a VH140C a few years ago. Traded a Japan Strat for it. lol. Then I gave it to my buddy Ron from DEAMON. He still has it and its awesome. I hope you find one. Cheers man! Love the vids.
Congrats bro. I picked up a gx130c that wasn’t fully working for $150. I replaced all the caps and retolexed it red. Came out sick and it fixed the issues it had. Best deal of my life lol.
I own one of these when I was a teenager my mom and dad got for me. someone sold it for like 200 bucks I was really lucky. now I'm 27 and still use it today best solid state amp in my opinion.
I love that place I was just there last weekend. Motorcity guitar is like 25 miles from me give or take I'm just a couple miles away from guitar center extra 20 miles well worth it though, it's where I bought my America stratocaster first strat because I'm a BC Rich guy too but after playing it I loved it had to bring it home, just went in intended to buy picks lol
The early Crates stunk. I think that is why they got shit on later. But I had a '91 or '92 G120C(decent chorus BTW for clean). Ended up getting a 212 extension cab loaded with(and I didn't know til years later when I opened it) Nice 85 watt Celestions which they later determined(and changed the model number to 100) were 100 watt. I still have the cabinet which I custom sparkle painted a couple years ago. I sold the amp to a pawn shop in the early 2000's. The amp had a new technology called Tube Flex Circuitry I believe. And like yours, when cranked wide open...had that punchy tube sound. I dug the amp. 👍
Marty is my uncle! I was there on Friday and I saw Marty then, really cool dude!! Nice amp!! Brother, you whale on that guitar!! Kickass video as always!! Cannibal Corpse is one of my favorite bands especially Death Metal!! Rock on!! 🎸🤘🎸🤘, let me know how it sounds!! I live in Auburn Hills, Michigan!!
Motor City Guitar is my favorite guitar store of all time. Marty the owner and Scott the guitar technician and Master luthier are some of my favorite people. I've been taking my instruments to them to get set up and I have purchased numerous instruments and other equipment from them over the years and have never had a bad experience. Yes my friend, you are correct it's dangerous. There have been times where I went into purchase a set of strings and walked out with a $1200 something or other lol. I absolutely love that place. That is a really kick ass amplifier and hope you enjoy the hell out of that thing... do you remember before they moved? They had their old place next to Harmony house and that lumber store. Then they moved to the movie theater. Man memories. Would love to get together with you sometime and shred.
My buddy has an old Crate Bass head in his garage. He gave it to me, told me to post it on Craigslist and see if I could move it. No one responded at all. It's still sitting in his garage.
Wow motor city Waterford. Marty sold me my bc rich warlock usa about 30 yrs ago. That was when the Ricos got back the company. Those rico bc rich's and the Jackson's from that era are prime guitars.
First amp I ever had was a GX15 back in 92' or 93'.I also have always loved the old Crates.Iv even had a few of the originals that were actual wood crates.Such things like ya said are gettin harder to come by tho
Omg every guitar except 1 was bought at motor city guitar. I remember when Marty had his long hair. Guy is an amazing store owner. He knows the ins and outs of literally EVERYTHING in his store
That's pretty sick my dude!! Think it's cool that you dig on a lot of the same gear(80-90s Ibanez, JacksonsJackson's. Solid state heads) though I have to admit, only have owned (2) B.C. Rich Guitars; '03 NJ Series Warlock- Blue Quilt Top, '03 or '04 NJ Series Virgin- Black [both had the licensed Floyd Rose's]. They both did play great, but on they also [both] had the same con/flaw, well not really a flaw, but definitely a major con for me at that time for me at my playing. Were the pointy horn parts where the side of my elbow would rest. Remember spending close to 3 hrs just doing adjustments on the strap, did come close. Was only uncomfortably painful when standing an playing, lol sitting an playing never even touched those parts of the horn(s). Looking back now, it's a pain to even find a Assassin (I don't even care about which model, I'm a tech so I can always mod/upgrade anything I find lol) Out here in ARIZONA, can't find any NJ Series or hell, any model of the Platinum Versions My apologies for my geekness turning into a book on your page 😆 Another great 👍🏻 vid buddy
My drummer owns a GX130C and I play it for band rehearsal at his studio. Great amp with tons of gain. But it's not really my kind of tone. I prefer the Boss Katana. It's just more useful to me.
Hrr we’re brother are you familiar with tone wars channel he frequents the motor city music store as well , can’t wait to get there one day great score on the crate bro 🤘🎸
Got my little Crate combo amp when I was 15 or so
Been loving it as my one and only bedroom amp ever since.

Same. I ended getting three of them for back up.
Never thought I’d see you here..
Hi Rob.
I owned a Crate Stealth GT50 combo Lee Jackson Model Awesomeness 😎👍 WOW Nice Amp 👽🤖👁️👁️👁️👁️👁️
This amp and its Ampeg counterpart are legendary for old school death metal. Can't wait to hear you shred in it
I got a CRATE GFX 120 2x12 combo and the thing is a BEAST!
It's refreshing to see a channel that isn't centered around politics, religion or whacky conspiracy theories. Instead it's centered around a guy doing what makes him happy.

That's very nice of them, good will to all man kind and all that crap, and remember,if it's too loud you're just too old
Awesome Kev! So cool to see you excited again about guitars and gear!
Mannnnnn I remember seeing you play Through the Eyes of the Dead and I couldn't have been any older than 13

The 5150 is the backbone of modern metal man. All balls no bullshit.
Check out peavy supreme amps…Real sleepers
I LOVE Crate amps. I had two of them. A 2-12 combo and and a 3 channel half stack. They freakin' ruled. I would love to get that half stack back. It was and has been painful that they went out of business.
Most guitarists don't see CRATE as "the good shit".
That seems to be changing.
Nice amp man!
Crate still jams! Don't care what anybody says. 🤘 Much love Kevin!
@Der_Mantie very true but you know how guitarist are …especially when you first learning….I mean basses are never as snobby except about using pick lol
That through some Celestion G12K-100 take me back to the 90s & early 00 in the best way possible still have that cab.
Duuuude you Have got to update us once you find out more about when you get on stage again. Definitely worth posting some of that here too🤘🏼
Fuck yeah I’d kill to see Kevin live
I read direct quotes from Rob Barrett & Jack Owen where they said the Crate GX-130C and EMGs were used to record The Bleeding. Pretty cool 🍺
the Crate Blue Voodoo is actually a really decent one also! nice high gain, throw a boost on and you're good
I love my 50 watt head…built like a tank and heavy like one as well
Still got my GFX-212 from back in the day. Fucking love this thing.
Crate is by far the best distortion you can get for your buck in the heavy metal industry. Nice crate head man
Hah I'm going to Motor City Guitar tomorrow! Small world.
I have a Crate Power Block, I keep seeing it in pro rigs on those rig videos. I have a stereo cab for it. Great for using with preamps or software even. I found a couple of companies make a DI for filtering digital device noise, 70-100$. It’s a killer rig for low$$
Awesome, those things are like gold dust in the UK. Id love to get hold of one someday.
I'm gonna have to check that store out. I'm about 2 hours northwest of there. Sounds like it's worth the drive.
Marty is an awesome dude! You're right as hell. Every time I go in there, I leave with something. Been going there since I was a kid man. Much love for Michigan metal!
I feel ya dude I go into Guitar Center for "1 thing" the same as my wife goes to Target for "1 thing" 😬🤘

Motor City Guitar is the best !!!!! Great find , I always liked the Crate products , I have a BVH 150 Scott their amp guy re-tubed it for me not to long ago. Great vid !!!!!!

That's awesome! I bought a crate glx120 and a 5150 cab from Mike about 17 years ago. I still have the setup, and I play it almost everyday!
I have a blue voodoo 120h and it's still one of my favorites
When i go home on leave from the Navy i check that place out, see what Jacksons they got. Been watching you for over 12 years and just realized that you’re in the Mitten.
Oh shit this is about to be some good shit when we hear that thing
Got that same amp and the VH140C. But both have some issues so I'm going to be doing a recap and repair on both.
Crate amps was awesome in the 80's and 90's it was my choice of amps great sound awesome metal amp for real
My first several amps were Crates...i have always loved their distortion...
You ever gone to Gearfest at Sweetwater in Fort Wayne? They usually have a huge used gear tent with some interesting finds.
Not gonna lie im 6 foot 3 and i could never imagine pumping with ya but i love some fishing and shedding and your energy so keep doing your thing bro!
I used to have that same amp head back in the day. I would play my Ibanez RG270 on it and it sounded so heavy!
I got a B C RICH series 7 hate edition. It's a beautiful beast. Peace, love and respect my vascular metal brother✌❤🙏
Motor City guitar? No clue you were so close to where I live. I'm in the Waterford area, I'll have to watch out for ya!
I like Crate amps. I have a first gen blue voodoo 60 and 4x12 with the matching blue tolex and a blue voodoo 120 also with the blue tolex. I love them. They sound great once you get rid of the cheap oem speakers and they're built like tanks.
My currently use the crate blue voodoo with a metal zone as a front drive, I like it better than my triple rectifier.
Being a man who recently got my hands on a 'Marshall 1992 LEM', i can feel your happiness/excitement.
Now all i need is the 'MF280L' to complete the set.
Motor city guitar is where i bought my first fender p bass and my peavy 500 touring combo amp that store is amazing
still have a complete american made full crate stack, had to pawn off the head back in the 90s unfortunately so this was a blast from the past to witness.
duuuuude. I had one of these back in probably 99. Traded it in for a BlueVoodoo. Miss both of those amps so much.
I bought my Crate GX 130C back in 1995 and still have it
Motor City guitars is the best! Marty is a total class act!
I giggled at this one Kev. I had a few of the Crates and you're right about the brutals we get out of them. I found a VH140C a few years ago. Traded a Japan Strat for it. lol. Crate Excalibur are pretty sweet too…would love to find a deal like you got myself. Congrats
I still need this, an Ampeg, and a Marshall 8100 in my life
Awesome man! I too was looking for this amp but instead I found a gx600. It's pretty good I must say.

That looks and sounds amazing
AWESOME ! Have you seen MONSON guitars? Great amp. That was my first amp ever besides a fender push button multichannel practice amp.
I need to get to Michigan for a Wings game and check out Motor City 🤘
Always enjoyed Crates!
And my little brother moved to Michigan!! Crazy
Crate gets a bad rap. My first amp was a crate combo. Good little amp. Your beard game is tight sir.
I've got 2 all tube crate amps! V-18combo 1x12 & V-33head. I run pedals great amps! Thanks
Sooo rad. Can't wait to see some jam vids with that beast.
My buddy has an old Crate Bass head in his garage. He gave it to me, told me to post it on Craigslist and see if I could move it.
No one responded at all.
It's still sitting in his garage.
I loved mine! Unfortunately though, I ended up selling it because it never really got the loudest when it came to a live setting
You need to run it in stereo…if not it’s only using half the power
Seriously been trying to get one for a while now... nice bro ... I'm jealous a little bit but happy for you
i looove Motor City Guitar!! Definitely extremely dangerous store!
Im from Detroit. Love your channel
Wow motor city Waterford. Marty sold me my bc rich warlock usa about 30 yrs ago. That was when the Ricos got back the company. Those rico bc rich's and the Jackson's from that era are prime guitars.
Marty is the man dude! Congrats!
I USED TO HAVE A GX 130C 2X12 COMBO. GOOD AMP. HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR AMP MAN!!
I got a crate something like that one it’s got solo on it it sounds like a champ with my James Hetfield snake Bite
Need more demo of that amp) some CC from TOTM cover for example;)
Greetings from Pennsylvania brother!!! That head is Classick!! Crunch is killer!!! 😎 👍
Funny i was considering buying one of these yesterdays. That makes the 3rd weird coincidence for today
I could have told you were from Michigan just by your voice.
Sincerely, a former Bay City/Midland native.
Dude you’re gonna start jamming again soon? Hell yeah!
First amp I ever had was a GX15 back in 92' or 93'.I also have always loved the old Crates.Iv even had a few of the originals that were actual wood crates.Such things like ya said are gettin harder to come by tho
Crate sound good you don't hear much about them anymore but I have a crate half stack it's awesome and I paid about 300$ for it I like it a lot.
Omg every guitar except 1 was bought at motor city guitar. I remember when Marty had his long hair. Guy is an amazing store owner. He knows the ins and outs of literally EVERYTHING in his store
Do you remember when they were farther down M59 next to Harmony House?? Right there by the old K Mart.
Shit I have missed kev he’s like my dad when it comes to metal and guitar 🤘
Just picked up a G120C XL head myself :)
Karate has never disappointed I've always recommend using krate I have a old krate amp from a long time ago it's a tube amp sounds great
That's pretty sick my dude!! Think it's cool that you dig on a lot of the same gear(80-90s Ibanez, JacksonsJackson's. Solid state heads) though I have to admit, only have owned (2) B.C. Out here in ARIZONA, can't find any NJ Series or hell, any model of the Platinum Versions
My apologies for my geekness turning into a book on your page 😆
Another great 👍🏻 vid buddy
My drummer owns a GX130C and I play it for band rehearsal at his studio. Great amp with tons of gain. But it's not really my kind of tone. I prefer the Boss Katana. It's just more useful to me.
There is an Ampeg vh140c for sale near me for $900 canadian. Way too much right?
I live in Toledo. Bought 5 guitars from motor city guitars. It's definitely a dangerous place if you have money to spend 😂😂😂
That thing is awesome
Hrr we’re brother are you familiar with tone wars channel he frequents the motor city music store as well , can’t wait to get there one day great score on the crate bro 🤘🎸
I've always wanted one of those or the randall RG100ES. Big bastards with Big tone.
I always heard crate stands for "Can't Really Afford The Equipment" so I never got one 😂
glad your makin videos again my man....
Good to have you back Kevin with a vengeance🤘🤘🎸🎃
I got three g1600 XL's. they crush!
