Love your dogs!!! Enjoying the way you share your life with us. I have not been crocheting for very long either. I'm a 76 year old retired teacher and I have never made a granny square. You have inspired me to make a granny square top. Yours have turned out so well. Crocheting and buying yarn is so addictive!!! Looking forward to seeing what you do next. Light and Love, Linda
Just introduce myself I am a retired nurse. I have two daughters that are nurses and my oldest daughter married a PA and they just started their own business going making house calls like back in the olden days yeah so to do that you need a doctor and a nurse and, they live in Bend and now they have the fired department police department in all of Central Oregon. They’re doing all of the new hires and they just got the city of Bend and now they’re doing the utility workers everybody in the city so they’re busy. But now about me, I have been crocheting since I was nine I put it away for a while and then I picked it back up but when I was very young, I did blankets and lots of them. I put it in the fair and one first prize when I was younger, but in 2018, I was hit by a logging truck head on, saved my whole middle my brain no brain injury no spine injury but all my limbs were pretty well. Shot had to go in and do 25 surgeries. They wrap me up all my limbs and went in and did one surgery at a time to fix all my limbs, the worst was my leg was dangling, but they put it in a halo. I was on my back for 15 trying to get my foot back to my leg and heal it. I walked on it for a year and then osteomyelitis got in the bone I had to let, my right leg go below the knee. I am one to not give up I now drive I’m a swimmer so I have a swimming leg and I am now working doing private care. I am 69 and doing great. I am so glad to meet you.
A perfect start for a rectangle blanket. Many years ago, when I first knitted and crocheted, I bought yarn and finished my project. (BTW I'm 84) Now I have a stash, and at least 4 WHIPS. 😅 Love to see guys enjoy crochet too. ❤
Completely unrelated to the crochet, but when you mentioned that you are a nurse I just have to say. Thank you for caring for your patients. My mom got sick and ended up getting a very aggressive case of Guillain-Barré syndrome. In less than 48 hours she was completely paralyzed and on a ventilator. That was the week before mother's day last year. She is still hospitalized, but she is slowly improving. Now able to open her eyes, smile, move her head, and starting to be able to move her arms. The nurses who care for her are amazing. I am so grateful for the care and attention they give my mom. Especially during the times I cannot be with her. Thank you for choosing to care for those who cannot care for themselves. My mom was in the ICU for nearly 3 months. She was moved to a facility but is still in a hospital.
Thanks for your comment. Sending your mom all the best. I worked in neuro ICU for a long time. I've seen Guillain-Barré many times. Very scary. But most patients make a really strong recovery. It does take time, as you're well aware. Sending all the best!!!
Even though the yarn ball is wrapped like that, you could probably still center pull. The trick is to insert your fingers into both ends and wriggle around until they meet. Then grab the yarn around that point and pull out. You’ll still have some yarn barf to untangle, but once you do that it’s so much easier to pull.
Yes 🩷 I was going to comment and mention this as well … Just reaching inside deeply and even if a little cluster comes out, it’s okay … still easier to work from the inside 🩷
OMG i just found your channel. I love the dogs 💕My oldest son was a nurse and now he’s a ARNP we’re in Florida a couple years ago. When the pandemic started, they allowed practitioners to open their own practices. He has his own practice now I’m so proud of him. I wish you the best in school. The sky is the limit. I crochet and just learned to knit this past year and I have had my channel 3 years. They’ll be four years in January. Self taught taught me how to crochet but anyways, I look forward to watching your content.
Oh my gosh, you are such a busy person, full time nurse, at school, looking after your garden and plants, crochet, AND you want to run a marathon. Kudos 👏 Have you ever started a rectangle granny square with 3 small granny squares in the centre? I find that a lot easier and it makes the centre stronger, but that's just me.
I accidentally found your channel, I am a retired Critical Care Nurse of 30 years and did wound care and patient outreach, which I called patients after discharge ,did follow up on the discharge instructions with them, made sure they had a follow up doctor's appointment and went over their medications and made sure they understood why they are taking them and answered their questions. If I was younger, when I finished my nursing, I would have gone on to get my Nurse Practioners degree. I used to live in upper New York near Buffalo. This has been a good video.
I, too, would like to thank you for your service! I appreciate nurses very much. This has been a great video! I’m a houseplant person, too! I thought I’d seen all the houseplant UA-camrs! I’m glad to know that, I’ll go and look at your older videos. Also- I found an old crystal punch bowl at the thrift store (cheap, heavy AND beautiful) which is perfect for a big ball of yarn.
The thing about tutorials is there can never be too many. There are as many was to learn as there are to teach, and your tutorial will likely click with people that have struggled with other videos. I think people think that crochet content is oversaturated, and maybe a little bit, but really no one else does things exactly like you. Even if you follow the same pattern your way of teaching it, holding the yarn, turning the hook, it will all be different. In my opinion there can never be too much crochet content. Especially tutorials :3
Thank you for showing that men can also have Freedoms. Knitting and crocheting is so calming that more young men & women should follow your example. Time well spent. I see comments on you nursing your parents. 🤗💐🪔💖. Such lovely projects.
Thank you ❤ my mom was a nurse as well … You are So Sweet … When you said “Boys Jesus C I’m still here dying from laughter 🩷 Your work is Beautiful ⚜️🧶⚜️
That olive green blanket is gorgeous. I love the Re-Spun yard it’s gorgeous can’t believe it’s that price at Walmart. Great deal ! You definitely need to do a tutorial on how you make your blankets and granny squares. Your crocheting is beautiful.
Hi thank you for the video, I like the colours you are using in your new blanket, I am make a granny stitch cardigan. Will show it on Instagram when finished. Take care have a wonderful day 😊 CW from Ireland
Found your channel by accident one day recently as I was searching for crochet plants. I have been a subscriber ever since. I started crocheting in January of 2024. As a man with many similar interests to you i find your channel to be very intresting and informative. Now my question: do you think you will ever branch out to other crochet items other than blankets? Maybe some stuff in styles that guys would like? It’s difficult to find stuff that is manly lol. Keep up the good vids. Deffinetly one of my new favorites.
I also am a male nurse. Many years ago, hehe, there were only two of us for the whole hospital. I specialized in brain trauma. Have you ever tried corner to corner afghans? You do such beautiful work. It would add another design to your talent. I actually knit. Started with crochet then have been knitting for almost 60 years. I prefer knitting. Don't have to look at what I am knitting all the time.
Good to see you again Nick, love all your blankets. I love the granny blanket, would love to see some cooking and recipe videos also. Just want to say thank you for being a caring nurse. 🇨🇦👍❤️
I love watching your videos! It pained me to watch you struggle with that huge ball of yarn in that tiny bowl, but I get it. You look like you definitely have it all down to a routine now. I love, love, love your latest rectangle granny blanket. That black definitely does look like Oreos!😂 Keep up the awesome work, honey. I love watching you grow!! Blessings!!🫂
Hi Nick, great video! If you want to look at other crochet stitches, I can recommend ‘Amanda Crochets’, her tutorial UA-cams are clear & easy to follow. She shows exactly where you need to put your hook etc. I found Amanda when I wanted to get back into crocheting after a long break away from it. I’ve made a number of blankets using her tutorial for Suzette stitch with a half herringbone border. Her instructions are great. Happy crocheting!
Your pillow idea is great. . I was really good with difficult patients and families and they wanted me to be that person if they needed to pull me to go help with those difficult situations. They said we’ll take care of your patience while you go do that if you will and I said sure, I’d love to so I did that in the Bend hospital. So you were in Oregon for awhile. I have lived here all my life . I never blocked any of my blankets but when you get to making garments, you really do wanna block it makes all the difference and how it looks when you put it on. Check out Urban Yarns. Gary. And Bag-0-Day Chrystal
Hi Nick ! Thanks for showing how to start a rectangle Granny blanket ! I crochet for Many Many years Now, but I had forgotten how to do IT ! I love plants and gardening too. My greenhouse is filled to the brim with starts Now 😂😂😂 I really like this style of vidéos , crocheting with you and talking plants AT the same Time ! Will go and look AT your old plants vidéos. 😊
This comment makes me so happy! Glad to know I’m making content that people enjoy watching. I love longer videos from the UA-camrs I follow. Your comment encourages me to do more of this style of video!
Hello Nick, your voice is so soothing, I made my first rectangle granny blanket a few months ago. It turned out so pretty. Your blankets are beautiful love your channel
Last comment regarding the person that asked about working with finer weights. I started crocheting about 8 months ago and couldn’t imagine working with anything less than a 4 weight. But I took the advice of another video I was watching and just decided to try it. To my immense surprise, I loved working with fingering and sport weights and love making shawls with them. The lightweight yarns hurt my fingers less. So give it a try…you never know!
get a bucket honey. your yarn can bounce around in it while you unravel it, staying placed in the bucket. i love it. you are so sweet and kind. i like watching you. thank you for sharing.
That is awesome. It is good to see gentleman, crochet, and I’ve got a nephew that crochets out of my mother’s grandkids I crochet I got two other sisters that crochet I can knit them, but you are doing a awesome job and it is good to see younger generation crocheting, and keeping the older generation going. Did you learn from your grandmother or friend or mother thank you so much for sharing.
Nick, definitely missed you. Look forward to seeing you tutorials. Love the precious Fur Babies. I enjoy your chill way. I'm proud you are working toward a better position. Please do not leave ytube. Bless you. I would love a tutorial on granny squares. Thank you❤🫶
I too love crocheting . Thank you for all the tips. I have noticed that you are the only one that does all the work to maintain such a beautiful place. I was just wondering if your partner helps you at all around the house. I hope he does. Sending you both lots of love .
Omg, I am racking my brain to figure out how and where you put the 2 extra stitches at the beginning?? Otherwise, love it and can’t wait if you do a proper tutorial, or at least tell us that part lol 😁. Love the pillowcase idea. It fits perfectly! I am hooked now. Have to see the soap and other vids. I think a binge is gonna happen 😜. I would love to see how you make soap, any special recipes for food, and more crochet. I think I must have missed it, but, what got you into all these crafts? From one RN to another 👍💜. I do both Tunisian and regular crochet. Once you try, you might just be hooked. 😁. I can also help with resources if you want. Last sentence, I love the baby blanket. Is it the same pattern?
Really enjoyed this longer video. A video showing close -up of how you start your granny stitch blankets in order to eliminate large holes will be appreciated. Also looking forward to your "plant" tour. 😊
Hi there Nick 🙋♀️ I enjoy all your tutorials. You are very talented. I have seen on a channel they crocheted 3 granny squares then put them together. Then they crocheted along to make a rectangle. Your dogs 🐕 are adorable. For a new crocheter you are awesome 👌 Have a great day. Enjoy. 🧶
The hounds are handsome. Give Andrews blanket to the dogs what a shame to frog all that work . Love your little bag . Enjoy working your blanket . Love the pallet.
I feel like most crochets have at least 2 to 3 projects on the hook. And that green blanket that you started would be great for the coach matches your aesthetic very well. By the way, it’s great to see you man crocheting too. That’s awesome.
The blanket you are making for Andrew’s grandmother as a lap throw is perfect! You want to be careful of having too many WIPs. I tend to get way too many lined up that are partially done nagging at me!
Hugs 😊 Nick, love Respun Yarn too. I have all the colors and want to make a large blanket with them. Your puppers are adorable 🐕. I'm just finishing up my newest hexi cardigan and thinned out the sleeves a little. I haven't tried the rectangle granny yet. Thanks for sharing.
Hi I tried starting a crochet project by working from the shop ball and found that after working a while the wool got somewhat tangled So I wind th wool first to ensure no tangles. One thing you may need to think about with Tunisian crochet is that because you don,t turn at the end of the row Also you get all the stitches on the hook before you return back this makes the whole piece curl meaning needing to block the finished piece I don,t like it much
I'm a nurse too! I have finally left facility nursing and am managing a Dr Office. Finally doing the 8 to 5 ish with weekends off, so I get to crochet so much more. Thanks for sharing with us.
Omg thank you for all that you've done in health care and are doing now!! Love that you r taking care of yourself with plants and crocheting!! I work withe terminally ill for years in nursing homes. Back in the 70s and 80s Then as a phlebotomist for twenty years in the hospital. I've crocheted all those years and alot of art work painting and drawing. Love your videos they are inspiring!
I just found your channel, lots in common with other viewers, my youngest daughter is an ICU nurse in Houston, Tx. Long hours are right, it’s brutal sometimes for all of you in this field. Thank you for what you do, I appreciate you. Oh…I also just subscribed and looking forward to watching your videos even though I’ve been a crochet momma for 45+ years. ❤
Thank you for this! I always like a crochet buddy and if he has interesting stuff to talk about the better. I crochet a lot and found with time I found I like to make blankets, shawls and hats… that’s it and for now it makes me happy! I can’t wait for you to find other yarns and give your take on them ( wool, alpaca, cotton..). Keep up the great work, I will be watching!
Hi Nick! Most of the time when I sit to watch a UA-cam video, both my cat and dog need me. Awe, life with fur babies!😊🐱🐶 No judgement here! You are in great company.😎 That is a great blanket for you. Good work! 😃💜🧶
I never say im not going start a pro jecy im so intune to crochet always making something for other people an sale them. When requested enjoy crochet your projects.👍
What a lovely colour combination... I'm new to crochet and open to new ideas. I'd love to do a rectangular granny square and would appreciate you doing a tutorial. You crochet so beautifully. I'm new to your channel also so very pleased to meet you Nick 😊
Have you done a Gingham blanket yet? Love the colours you’re about to start working on 👍. There is usually an end showing in the middle of the skien, start from that, then it won’t flip about whilst using it.
Another great video my friend. I am not into working anything granny stitch lately. I'm loving the misc projects I'm doing. Hoping that rain stops at some point as I have to get out and do some repotting and preparing some slips that will be sent to a friend for a houseplant exchange. I am enjoying my UA-cam adventure. Always look for a new one from you. :) As for outdoor gardening type thing, as I live in a camper, space in my besties back yard is limited so am considering options for what I would grow and how I would grow it. A couple raised beds are an option or maybe taking one of those heavy duty plastic barrels and working layers in that to grow different things. :) Did that make sense? LOL
I purchased the Ice yarn that you showed on a video. Love it but your right about how fine it is and it takes a lot of yarn to make a blanket. So sorry that Andrew again doesn't like the yarn you choose. Love your videos.
Great blankets. I saw you using the outside end of the yarn. Don t know if you are aware but you can reach into the Center of a new ball and pull out the Center end then the wool feeds much easier and the wool doesn t roll around on you. I m gonna do a rectangle granny now. Thx. Cheers
You do great work. I have such a hard time finishing wearables. I know your busy so what is your way of getting through a project without stopping and starting a new one on top of all your nursing. You are a super hero
I was born at West Point and grew up in West Point, so I’ve been to Bear Mountain many times love that area so beautiful!!!!! my grandmother would take me to the zoo does that still exist?
I want to introduce you to Bagoday. If you don’t know her, she is definitely one to learn from. She has hundreds and hundreds of tutorials on how to make things and she did make a sweater and a cardigan I believe for her husband if you don’t know her, check her out, she is awesome. She’s doing a crochet shawl along right now. You can learn so much from her different Yarn new yarns that come out check her out. If you don’t know her she is awesome and also urban Yarn he’s another male crochet awesome with color. He is so good but just in every day guy that loves Crochet, his name is Gary.
When I do the foundation row, I will yse 2 strands. Just keeps the chain from stretching the loops then drop one strand to continue. My Omi taught me that Just came across your channel and I’ll be looking for more Thank you!
Retired nurse as well. Love the bag. Also, I have struggled with the center of the rectangle granny. Did you follow a tutorial for the beginning of your blanket?

From one RN to another 👍💜. I do both Tunisian and regular crochet. Once you try, you might just be hooked. 😁. I can also help with resources if you want. Last sentence, I love the baby blanket. Is it the same pattern?
So beautiful love the gray. Thank you fir shoeing the retangke starting. Would be great for lap blankets!
The pillow you made looks great..i love bright colors
Really enjoyed this longer video. A video showing close -up of how you start your granny stitch blankets in order to eliminate large holes will be appreciated. Also looking forward to your "plant" tour. 😊
Thank you! Plant video coming this week!
Hi there Nick 🙋♀️
I enjoy all your tutorials. You are very talented. I have seen on a channel they crocheted 3 granny squares then put them together. Then they crocheted along to make a rectangle. Your dogs 🐕 are adorable. For a new crocheter you are awesome 👌 Have a great day. Enjoy. 🧶
That would be awesome if you would make a tank top out of Granny squares. I have 2 tutorials I found 2 Hexagon shirts for men. Can I send them to you
I saw this too, and was going to leave a similar comment. I think it would look good!
Enjoy watching your videos .like the blankets you make also like the blankt you made for Andrew s grandmother / mom
I love the yarns you use. The Picasso is wonderful. I love the Lion Brand yarn you chose.
The hounds are handsome. Give Andrews blanket to the dogs what a shame to frog all that work . Love your little bag . Enjoy working your blanket . Love the pallet.
Your rainbow ic3 yarn blanket is cheerful and awesome❤.
Have to say Love your dogs 😅 I listen to your podcast while I knit and my dog is sleeping next to me
That really makes a granny rectangle blanket look so much better. 🧶
I tend to get way too many lined up that are partially done nagging at me!
hahaha very relatable!
Hi
I tried starting a crochet project by working from the shop ball and found that after working a while the wool got somewhat tangled So I wind th wool first to ensure no tangles.
Your blanket will be perfect! Great choices!
Big beautiful dogs!
Very nice work on the blankets.
Crochet bros unite!
I’m loving your videos. I watch the crochet videos. Keep up the good work!
Aww i love the doggies. He wants so much love
You should check out the Barva yarn caddie. It's a game changer for me. And they have a double ball version. It works great.
Charcoal
Hi Nick! Most of the time when I sit to watch a UA-cam video, both my cat and dog need me. Awe, life with fur babies!😊🐱🐶
No judgement here! You are in great company.😎
That is a great blanket for you. Good work! 😃💜🧶
Hi Nick. Glad to see you posted another video. It's always nice to see what you are working on. And great color combinations.
Love your dogs. ❤️❤️❤️

What a lovely colour combination... I'm new to crochet and open to new ideas. I'd love to do a rectangular granny square and would appreciate you doing a tutorial. You crochet so beautifully. I'm new to your channel also so very pleased to meet you Nick 😊
Sorry for all the comments. They are so sweet. They do miss you. Aww. They love you. So sweet.
I got same bag from amazon
You should chrochet on a pillow or desk thing. It seems to help my shoulders relax
Love the doggos! ❤❤ you got yur bath now! 🤣 I thought you were going to make a blanket out of that ice yarn.
Wow Nick! That looks amazing 😊
I love the new blanket colors!!
🎉 congrats on your new channel
That green blanket is beautiful!❤❤❤❤
Hi new sub.love the colors.
I too love that yarn. I have a tote full in my stash from a sale. I think i got 3 skeins of each of the available colors at the time. ❤
Beautiful dogs!
I am so new to crochet I would dare this yet, but I would love to try a recracular blanket!
Great blankets. I saw you using the outside end of the yarn. Don t know if you are aware but you can reach into the Center of a new ball and pull out the Center end then the wool feeds much easier and the wool doesn t roll around on you. I m gonna do a rectangle granny now. Thx. Cheers
Those puppy eyes
How can you resist them, right?! Although as you can see, Tucker (the black dog) is the master of giving the "side eye" when he doesn't get his way!
LOve the crochet videos!
The dogs are adorable ❤
Your stuff is beautiful! ☺️
THEY LIKE WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO ME😂
I want to introduce you to Bagoday.
My Omi taught me that
Just came across your channel and I’ll be looking for more
Thank you!
You need a Yarn Genie. Smith dispersal of the yarn, not expensive, and stops the skein from bouncing around.
Smooth dispersal(sorry)!
Retired nurse as well. Love the bag. Also, I have struggled with the center of the rectangle granny. Did you follow a tutorial for the beginning of your blanket?
A LIVE STREAM WOULD BE EPIC!!
okay I've seriously thinking about doing this!!! I'm terrified nobody would watch!
Hey Nick, since you've been on a recent trial with the crochet shirts. Have you seen the shorts? Like comfy shorts on ravelry? Just a suggestion
