My sincerest apologies goes out to you all! I’m so sorry that I’ve defaced a painting in order to suit me. I feel absolutely terrible that I thought it was okay to improve on it. Learning from this past experience tremendously…😞😞😞😞 Please forgive me…I’m forgiving myself.
Jenny..don't let other people make you feel bad about the painting . Someone (the painter) sold it, you bought it, it belongs to you and you can correct it! It looks better! Also I watched your video where you talked about you and Jason's meeting and your anxiety. I think you are a very fine person with a lot of class and beauty. NO WORRIES AND YOU HAVE EXCELLENT TASTE!♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
I really need to work on that some. When we are in the middle of purchasing my phone gets tucked away. 🤣 We bought the mini portrait on fabric, the gorgeous silver bowl display, silver Christofle ladle and the white bisque statue of Psyche.
Waking up to a brocante shopping outing in a delightful french village. Wonderful. I experienced this on my last vacation to visit family in south Germany. We travelled to a few small villages in the Elsass region, and luckily one had a brocante event. 🤗Greetings from Seattle 🍃 Sabine.
Wonderful! Aren’t they an enjoyable experience Sabine? Did you bring back a little treasure to Seattle? I know it’s not for everyone but I really enjoy the atmosphere and obviously looking/collecting vintage/antiques items.
I can't blame you for wanting to "fix" the painting. I agree that the black didn't fit. You should start painting your own art! It would be nice to have some of your own hanging!😊😊
Just started watching your channel. Love your home and what you have done. I was watching an old vlog where you were cleaning outside and wondering if you found out that if you cut the ivy at the bottom (roots) it will die off at the top and easier to remove. Best wishes from Kansas City, USA!♥️♥️♥️♥️😘
I’ll share the painting again in another video.
A stunning village and church which does look like a chateau! The painting is lovely but the frame distracts from it. I think the frame needs to be a very simple wooden or gold frame. Always enjoy your videos! As for restoring the painting, I am not an artist but if you help by repairing damage or missing pieces of paint, what is the harm? It's not a Van Gogh but even some of the great masters need re=touches at times. Follow you heart and follow your eye.......and your eyes and heart are quite tender! Hope that Justin does not have any more close calls with the tree trimming. Cheers!
Sorry but as an artist myself I find changing the painting and all the negative comments towards the artists work to be inappropriate. I think maybe you might have used that painting as inspiration to paint one of your own.
Yes, I felt terrible about it Judith. Too be fair I don’t feel I was negative about it, I expressed that I didn’t understand some things on this beautiful painting. Anyways it’s was mistake attempt on my part and I’m learning from it. Moving forward now.
OMG Jenny the news is full of people discovering a long lost Van Gogh or something at a brocante 😬 to be fair it does look better, let’s hope it wasn’t Monnets study of “fleurs tres sage” you’ll get sent to the Bastille! Lol
🤣 I should be taken out back and beaten for defacing another persons art. I can’t believe I did it also David! My first! Let’s hope that Andre Burie isn’t hating me from wherever he is. I couldn’t find anything on him via web but I’ll keep looking.
🫶 I can’t believe it either. I would love your opinion, what do you think the long black line and round black areas represented? I was/am having a hard time deciphering the artists intention. 😞
They conveyed their impression and feelings of a flower arrangement. I don’t think certain (black) areas represent anything specific, I do think they provided some contrast that was needed.
I don't think you should feel terrible. It is your painting to do with as you please and I do think it looks better. Everyone has their opinion and that is ok. BTW, I know you are not into jewelry but you might try a few pieces for your shop. A lot less expensive to ship and many in America may love something from a French brocante
I have been considering it but I have a really strong ethos, I only buy what I love bc if it doesn’t sell, I need to be happy to own it and use it myself. Jewelry is a bit difficult for me but we’ll see! Always open to evolving!
@@Frenchcountryfriends That makes total sense. You buy such great things. I don't know how you let go of anything. You probably say I want it to sell this piece but I hope it doesn't because I love it so much. I would :)
I definitely misused the word. I know. Which is why I didn’t use it in the title. Would love to know if you think I improved the painting. That would be helpful.
it’s part of our business, a way of feeling more independent and earning some income while living in a rural area. It is NOT easy earning a living here. So I thought by sharing our finds it will help promote/market our shop. 🫶 In a previous video I shared some beautiful footage of the mountains so more of that would be a great idea! Hiking is amazing here…great suggestion Jae! 🫶
How do you know the painting was a mistake painting and the artist would be happy with your modifications? Did you talk with him or her? You certainly have a high opinion of yourself. Very arrogant of you!
I appreciate the comment, really. It was a struggle for me to modify a bit of it. A bit of DIY despite it being art work. The painting is over hundred years old so no, unfortunately I can’t have that kind of discussion. I only modified the black splotches. I hope you learn to practice kindness when writing to people. Whatever it is that you are feeling in life, I send you light and love and hope that your heart grows…❤️❤️❤️❤️

On the painting, the black bits look to me like very dark green ivy leaves/vine in the flower arrangement.

My heart is warm Connie. 💕💕💕💕 Thank you for your wonderfully kind message.
I agree with Connie - Jeni. Please don't be discouraged ❤❤
The village was beautiful! Thank you for taking us along with you! I was hoping to see what treasures you purchased. Did you only get the painting?

I did buy a rather large and heavy onyx and marble centerpiece, took up my whole carry on, but was so worth it.
I think the painting looks SOO 😊 much better. Well done. The black bits were certainly "off".
Very kind of you to share that Liddy. I still feel awful about it. 😞
"leaves falling" - looks like ivy to me

Thank you Susan. I would like to start painting again…maybe in one of the next videos I’ll share some of the painting I’ve done.
I really enjoy your videos
We really appreciate that! Thank you. 🫶🫶 Remind us, where are you writing from?
