We used live in the south of France on a country estate. You may already be aware of the use of the panier à salade. For everyone else: In the potager (kitchen garden) you place your harvested greens in the basket (panier à salade). Then you rinse them, either by hosing them off or dunking the basket into a bucket of clean water, then you swing the basket back and forth until most of the water is removed. It's the original salad spinner :)

Definitely can agree to that or it can be full of junky items. We like the ones with both personal and professional or ‘Type d'exposants’, those have a good melange and of course the location is good determination of what you find or how many. I’d be curious what Béarn vide grenier or brocante fair would be like.
