Hanging the putter to read the break is better than holding up a finger. Use gravity to your advantage. You can tilt your head or finger by mistake which will throw off your line.
For all the people who moan about it being slow he nails it at 4minutes. Aimpoint itself isn’t slow, the player is what makes it slow. If you’re a slow player you’ll be slow reading the green any method.
People often overcomplicate Aimpoint. You can simplify it down to walking the line, and assigning the number of fingers to a feel for a slope. It can be so much quicker than using one’s eyes because it’s so much more effective and simple. I think if people said 1 finger, 2 finger, 3 finger rather than percent, it would have much fewer people against it.
You can be a feel putter and use aimpoint. It is literally feeling the ground. And your stroke can be that of Brad Faxon’s. It doesn’t have to be Bryson’s.
Aim Point works, take a class and you'll see how... Do what you want on the green, but don't waste time, keep it under 40 seconds and feel free to stand on your head if it helps you.
Plumb bob is nowhere near as reliable as using your feet to gauge the slope. I’ve tried it in two games, and can’t imagine going back to plumb bobbing a read.
They just showed Denny McCarthy line up with Aimpoint and wiggle his body 4-5 times then miss a 4 footer. 🤔 .. use it, don’t use. I don’t care just be reasonably quick about it.
AMEN!!! I can't tell you how many times we're waiting in the fairway for some guys who spend 5 goddamn minutes reading a 3 foot putt...only to miss it anyway! lmao!
For those weekend warriors who just want to have 6 beers with their friends, are you going to spend two hours before your round learning the slope and speed of the green at the course you’re playing at? With that, how do you marry speed and slope together at a course you’ve never played?
I hope that segment by the founder wasn't supposed to be a tutorial because I got nothing but jargon out of that. I get the slope part but not the percent or the 1, 2, 3 or fingers. I wouldn't mind trying it but not with that explanation.
Funny never saw Tiger, Nicklaus, Palmer, Player, Watson or any of those all time great players ever do this crap and they seemed to putt pretty well. It does nothing more than make rounds last longer which is the last thing the PGA tour needs.
Bravo comment! I've been playing golf for 35 years and IMHO alot of being a good putter is FEEL and INSTINCT! The greats like Nicklaus, Palmer, Watson, Woods and Player were confident and just had that "mental edge" that many of these kids today lack. They have psychologist and therapists to attend to their lack of mental, creative and instinctual tenacity to make the putts that are needed to win. Tiger and Jack just KNEW when they needed to make a putt...they did! They didn't rely on all this technical bullshit. I've relied solely on FEEL and INSTINCT most of my life and been fine with it...and I'm a pretty good putter. Yes, there is a science to the game, but I think if you rely too much on the technical, you fail to develop the "natural"...perception, feel and instinct.
If i saw a 15 handicapper using this on the golf course I would lose my shit. Why dont you work on your putting stroke so you can hit it where youre aiming first. Hurry the f up and hit the ball
One item that should be addressed, should players be allowed to straddle their line. I believe no, because if you can't do it when taking a stroke then you shouldn't be allowed to do it when lining up your ball. I still think aimpoint is fine and should be used as a tool, just the rules need tweaked since it is part of the game now. Also I love how Brandel tried to show some SG Putting stats right after this to show aimpoint hasn't improved the overall putting on tour. However, he only took a 2 year span that was probably cherry picked to make his point seem legit. He also didn't show the average green speed of both those years or slope ratings. Not saying he's wrong but c'mon man.
@@OrvinReyes - I played behind an amateur 4 ball - every golfer in that group was using aim point - it was a slow play nightmare 🥲🥲- these youngsters emulating their golfing heroes on tour
I use an aim point system on the golf course but it only involves my middle finger. A good stress reliever.
Been Aim Pointing for 10 years. It’s the best system of reading greens. Period.
5:19 great timing for a Aimpoint plug lol
Aim point just makes so much more sense to me
I’ve been reading greens like this for 7 years. The feeling the slope aspect. People thought i was crazy. Super validating.

Love it!! Huge ai point guy!
2:39 does youre finger have to be bent for it to work

I use a variant of it which I call "What's the point"
I saw Rick Shiels doing aimpoint and realized right then and there that I should never do it.
Right lol it didn’t make him hole any more putts
Shield wasn't doing aim point he was balancing himself against that arse
Lol

Plumb bob is nowhere near as reliable as using your feet to gauge the slope. I’ve tried it in two games, and can’t imagine going back to plumb bobbing a read.
What if one of your legs is stronger than the other??? I play soccer my strong foot has more muscle and less ability to judge
Make the music louder.

Elite levels it’s fine. But if you’re playing on the weekend, just hurry up and hit your putt. You’re not making it regardless.
AMEN!!! I can't tell you how many times we're waiting in the fairway for some guys who spend 5 goddamn minutes reading a 3 foot putt...only to miss it anyway! lmao!
Slows the game way down.....also just think how bad the area around the holes will get after 1/2 the field and their shoes marks around the cup?

How and pick up your feet the greens have gotten worse on course because of this method
One lesson here, if you are-an aspiring tour pro use Aim Point because McGinley doesn't and what did he win again? Oh yeah Sweet FA
I understand the concept, next version of plumb bobbing. But seeing guys like Scott Aim Pointing from 2 feet is a little silly

lol…my goodness. ‘Aimpoint Founder’ - Jack and Tiger didn’t use Aimpoint. That’s all folks.

"AimPoint helping golfers become more 'relaxed' on the course and CAUSING TREMENDOUS BACKUPS and making the sport unwatchable because of slow play!"
Aim Point is also helping amateurs take 5 hours to finish a round on the weekends. Just putt the ball for god's sake

Standing within 1 club length of the hole should be banned
Which is ironic, because when I have to play with somebody doing that nonsense, I am the opposite of relaxed.
That being said they should ban aimpoint 100%
Slow play nightmare on the course - Aim point should be banned for non-professionals
people should understand aimpoint is meant to make things faster. mid point slope feel, aim point, putt. done.

They’re using aimpoint wrong.
Aimpoint is a gimmick for the destitute.
A disadvantage if you don’t use it? Hahaha tell that to Tiger woods. This is shit for people who can’t read greens.
