If you have a buffing wheel I recommend using it instead of a heat gun because the heat gun makes the plastics brittle after a while both work though

When using a buffing wheel what kind of pad and buffing compound should I use? Thanks

Do not do this people. Heat is not necessary and you risk permanent damage to the plastic. Use a buffer and a nice plastic compound and you will get a better result.

Lol it's not going to hurt it if you just take your time and don't burn it, it doesn't "damage" plastic, it's actually pretty good for it, plastic is made by heating it.

I can speak from experience when working with old brittle sun faded plastic. The heat brings the color and the flexability of the plastic back to life

I tried that method it was awful makes the bike all greasy and smells bad and within a month its faded worst than before… so ima give the torch method a try than slap some uv protection clear coat over top of it

@@jmanuel5493 From what I've seen the heat gun method lasts even a shorter amount of time.

This works really well and it’s not hard to do but it will be back to faded white in very short order. It would be nice if there was something put on there to protect it. Are you aware of anything?

@@HillendaleBros That’s odd. I’ve done three of them and all three of them faded back pretty quickly. They do get ridden a lot so they see a lot of sun.
