More curious than cats and that one really is using her head!! We used to get the city sweepers used brushes for our cows. They love to be self brushed! Great video and memories for me. Thanks!
Here in Idaho the ranchers go to paving companies and ask them for the worn out brushes they use to sweep the asphalt on projects. Then they mount them for a scratching post.
I married a Gurnsey farmer's daughter but did have a few Holsteins. My mother-in-law's view of Holsteins was, that they eat too much and are nosey! Your Swiss are right there with the Holsteins wondering what the scoop is! lol
We use street sweeper brushes, just make a steel frame that it just slips on vertically. They push it around if you dont hold it with a couple steel posts. With it vertical they can really get their necks clean. We've had ours in the yard for about 10 years and they're finally wearing it down.
The cows wanted you two to hurry up and be finished installing the brush so they could have a good scratch before they went back into the barn. Blessings to you.
My wife went to a big construction company in St. Cloud to see if we could buy an old (street sweeper) brush. Lo and behold, they gave her two or three brushes and she brought them home made cookies. The guys were happy! The cows were happy, too.. We put a wooden fence post down and dropped the brush on it. It worked great - - as soon as the cows got out, they immediately went to rub on it.
I just have an old street sweeper brush mounted vertically. The beefers like it, even the younger stock will rub up against it. Nice video! Love to see the cows in the barn. Brings back memories
It's funny to see but a bit annoying when you're trying to work. I've had dairy cows pull the rubber weather stripping off a cab, bust plastic lights, and tear open boxes of hardware.
The cows wanted to use the brush b4 ya even got it up seems like ...lol great video...oh by the way ...ya gotta get a CASE IH hoodie now that you got that awesome tractor... With 4 new skins on it....she looks awesome with the duels....god bless you ur family and ur farm
I saw on ,Just a few acres farm, he drug a tree top in the winter outside lot and the dexter herd he has soon had all the bark rubbed off all the branches.
That's really cool ! I remember my dad's beef cattle shaking the barn, using the beams as a back scratch. Also, 3 foot of frost! It's deep i think here in SE MI. but I doubt that much. Good to get out any compaction. God bless and have a good 2nd half Winter season.
Talk to some construction companies and see if they have any used brushes from their road sweepers. Probably get them for a little of nothing then put a round post in the ground and slide the brush over the top. God bless
I had a brush for my beef cattle and I was surprised how little they used it. I did treat the cattle for lice regularly, I don't know if that was a factor.
UA-camr Tyler over at FarmerTylerRanch bought 2 used Street-Sweeper brushes from a nearby small town. The town was getting rid of them anyway. The bristles are completely circumferential. He mounted one vertically on a tall post, at cattle height. The brush doesn't rotate or otherwise move. It was an instant huge success with his cattle -- and has remained an essential beauty-and-comfort station for all of them. The second brush has remained unused, lying on the ground. It flattened on its area that it is lying on, but the rest of it is still in excellent condition. Those brushes are very, very long -- they look like they were made for massaging cattle!
Been watching from the beginning of the channel but I have a request. Less faces and more of what is being talked about. When your dad does videos they are awesome cause he is showing what he he is doing. We can still hear him without his face on the screen. Just a suggestion. God bless you all.
Too funny, that Roan cow was really having it out with the brush.

Cows are so funny, curious, and smart.

Love how the cows love papa George❤

The girls will love the brush especially in the spring
I got a used one from the street sweeper they used in town. Put a pole in the ground and slide it over the top of the post. Worked great.

Jersey cows are the most curious breed of cattle

Also, the paving companies usually give them to the ranchers because they have to pay to dispose of them.
The town gives us farmers the used street sweeper brushes for cow scratchers they work great
They talk about Cats having Curiosity but this video reminds me how Curious the cows are 🤣🤣🤣 And then Milk Cows are more so because they are tame.

🤣 yeah not in my house. If I'm not happy then no one is happy.
Great video going to be curious to see how it works out for your cows
I don't think my wife would appreciate that brush. Just sayin. 😂
The cows loved the bristle brush. Now, they can 'scratch their own backs'. 😊
Aaron I knew it was going to be good when I saw Cows in the header for the story. Your heard is lucky to have you all❤❤❤❤❤

Bear in mind, that anytime you have livestock or wheeled traffic it will drive the frost deeper

Hi good evening Gierek farms from Indiana
Cows are sure curious creatures aren't they? They are a little pesky too sometimes.
There just like little kids.
Love the show
