"You don't have to be smart, but you can't be stupid."
Wise words Brian......
I'm gonna start Repeating this. I'm 64. Words to Live By!
Anyone thinking you can just feed the stock and spend the rest of the day sitting by the fire needs to watch your videos. Working hard in the cold. Love your input, Brian. You ARE smart!,
Least they have beef cattle and not milking cows cause that's twice a day
@@keithauer4548 Did you know dairy farmers work 8 hour days? Yeah, one before lunch and one after. 😁
@@1striperon well ya I was born and raised on a farm friend had a huge dairy which is a pain cause the work never stops when you have to milk 300 cows twice a day we only raised wheat barley oats flax on our 2000 acres
@@1striperon I know that well.
HOLD ON THERE QUEEN ELIZABETH! I have over 2 billion dollars in farmSim 2017. I think Cole and Brain could use some pointers from me. I mean it's super easy.
That video shot of all the bulls nestled into their fresh dry fodder pack…….PRICELESS ❤️good job Cole and Brian 👍
Always love when Brian does some reminiscing, that was a great crow imitation. 🙂
Brian and Cole, I thoroughly enjoy your humor, laughable moments watching Ellie slide on the ice and “I am NOT your puppet” Crow on cue!!!! The Sonne Farms YT Channel has grown over the year and you make cattle farming educational!
@@kenc1800 Their the best, that's for sure!
Heartwarming to see the 4050 crank up, and the bulls making good use of the bedding. I always look forward to Brian Time, gate guy and all :-). Cheese and rice! Now I can't think of Sheryl Crow anymore without Cole's sound effects popping into my head :-D. Thanks for the video, guys!
Cole your crow imitation was hilarious!😂
Every day is a winding road, I get a little bit closer, Every day is a faded sign. I get closer to feeling fine. I liked that song the first time I heard it in the movie Phenomenon.
Farmers are smart and educated if they've been at it for any time at all. Most of them are full of common sense. You can't get a college education equal to the one you can get living on a farm, raising animals, growing crops and raising a family.
The bulls look good, the heifers too and those mamas, Wow! Nice looking beevos, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing your work and thanks for feeding all of us. EAT MORE BEEF.
Storla Station
Thank you friend!
The heart and soul of America. You guys have to at least do chores regardless of the weather. As a kid I lived in North Dakota. I delivered newspapers and more than once got frostbitten ears doing so. The papers had to be delivered. These days, I don't wash my car until it is at least 70 degrees. Thanks to you and all the strong men and women who bring food to our tables. You are amazing.
Brian’s stories are the best! We need more of them! You guys are awesome! Keep up the great work and stay warm.
I love how when you move the cattles you don’t scream an holler at the top of your lungs. I think the cattles are much calmer that way. Even bulls!
Farmers are very intelligent My dads parents were farmers, and my aunts, and uncles, there was nothing they couldn't do,repairing machinery, doing electrical, and plumbing, don't down yourself.I appreciate you so much. All of them were great with budgets, and financing learned so much from them about life!!!
Everyone we’ve got to help Cole get his membership up to 500K, please share, Sonne Farms is more than just farming.
Great segment Guys.Great to see such positive intergenerational Farming.
You guys take such great care of your animals. Congratulations
Great video. Mondays just aren't the same without Sonne Farms
For some reason, we always called the designated gate guy 'Steven". And we would holler "Steven! Get the gate!". It's been a running joke for years.
Cole and Dad Brian thank you for sharing everything.Keep warm and be careful out in the snow.God bless you all.
Hey guys, I live in South Carolina, moved here from SE Pa 43 years ago. A few weeks ago I went snowmobiling in West Yellowstone Montana (a bucket list thing). We landed in Boseman on a Saturday and it was -33f degrees. Believe me, I'm not trying to take anything away from you by saying that. 15f degrees is cold, man it's cold. I personally think that you folks that live up there are crazy but deserve our appreciation. to willfully live there, work there you and provide for our country. I have a whole new respect for you folks. I couldn't do it. Thank you for what you do. and for god's sake try to stay warm.
Cole, it’s so cool to see you and your dad working together!!
So nice to see the bulls enjoying their new bed. Good job.
Your Dad is priceless, and i love his jacket 👍
Brain is so cool. You are lucky to have him as your dad. Good luck on clavin season. ✌️👍💪
I still get a kick out of your dad’s song of the day thanks
Good video and really nice looking animals.
👍 Enjoyed the “gatekeeper” reminiscing a bit 😉
Indeed! Especially, “you don’t have to be smart just don’t be stupid!” That’s good advise.
Props to Brian. Lots of hard work done without a second hand while your sons were school and college aged.
Love the cow care, brings back memories of the dairy farm days bedding the girls. I will say you just showing off working them bulls on such a warm day. 😂 The work facility is amazing with just 2 people, just need some sort of cover over the area. Thanks so very much men!!! BOSS MAN WITH A PLAN 👍👍👍
Tiny Dog riding point and his first claving season, hooray.
You treat your animals great. Good job. I like the way you to work together. Keep it up. Time flys
15 degrees to you guys looks to be a walk in the park. I honestly do not know how you do it. It was 17 here in south TX about a week ago and I was feeding some cubes and a couple of round bales and thought I was going to freeze to death! lol Hats off to you two guys and the job you do every day no matter the weather
Zucchini bread is the absolute best.
Well folks we have made it through January, the garden hoses are back in the department stores, the days are getting longer and the seed catalogues are in the mail. Let’s hope for an early wet spring!
Thanks for another great video Cole.
It was interesting.
Cold weather makes everything harder to do that is for sure.
My compliments to Cole and Brian for the efforts they go to, to make sure that their cattle are bedded down good for the cold weather. The Sonne’s are excellent herdsmen for sure!!!!!!!!
Appreciate the care they give their cattle.
Handling the gate, been there done that. Kind of a boring task but is important to contain the cattle where you want them.
Good job on the feed lots and holding pens. You have them looking good. The bulls like that fresh bed do.
About it I guess. Thanks for everything Sonne’s. You both take care and be safe. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Loved you comments Brian while holding the gate. Got a few chuckles out of them.
Spent 2 hrs yesterday trying to clear hay & manure out of the feeding area for my pony. Paddock was mucky, no grappling forks on my bucket & couldn’t scoop up with the bucket. Ended up dragging as much as I could out of the way. Job was challenging, but made more difficult as hubby had snow blower attachment on the rear, even at highest lift it was still low for the mud I was backing through. I’m glad I cleared what I did, hubby now has the snow blower nice and washed and a friend has got a collection of tractors and is going to bring one over with a box blade for me to use as I need it. He’s retiring from his apple farm and is a good friend. Right tool for the job sure makes things easier! (We got our small 14 acre horse farm in 2000, are down to our last pony - a Norwegian Fjord (hubby married into the horse interest 34 yrs this Feb 16th, but these last 8 yrs I’ve had multiple surgeries & illnesses that put my chores on his lap & he’s working full time. I’m just getting back on my feet from the last surgery, so getting out there yesterday and getting back on the tractor for the first time in over a year did feel good!) Cole I’ve learned a lot by watching you clear the yards & will be utilizing that as I tackle the paddock through the coming year!
This is my favorite channel, kind of sad that i cant wait to log on to see if cole has any new footage keep it coming cole fun to watch
Good work on the gates, Brian. That can be your retirement job. Love when you reminisce. Cole is one super good farmer. Blessings on you and your families.
Brian is the man what runs with the football! lol
Down here in rural adel iowa a few weeks ago we had 27” of snow in 4 days with a blizzard….anyway we got snowed in for 3 days because of the drifts and on day 4 the county came by in a payloader thinking he was gonna blow right through the drifts and the drifts were 8-10ft high across the road and the drifts pushed his loader right into the ditch!! 😂. It was funny to watch but in the end we were still snowed in.! Luckily the daughter’s boyfriend is a farmer and he came over with his tractor and scooped the drifts away and dug us out!! Thank god for farmers!!! Great videos as always!!
Cole, you have a grateful audience...the bovine seem intent with you're work.
Your spray part looked like it was drifting when you come around that corner once or twice, can't wait to see you and your dad's babies, your hard work pays off. Brian the gatekeeper of knowledge
Brian should do a speech like that in every video call it words of wisdom
I've had lots of zucchini bread, but not chocolate zucchini bread. Sounds delicious. CAW🐦
I know you run GPS in all your fields, but the snow does make it easier to see where you are spreading the manure. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I love snow...we used to play outside all day without a coat. Wisconsin winters were always beautiful ❤especially at night when it would lightly snow while we sat in front of the fireplace. Good old days😊
Hopefully you get enough moisture the rest of the winter to help this summer!
Got to keep the gonads warm on the bulls! Glad to see you getting some moisture
You are right, those are important nads!
Thanks for another great video!!!! And Brian you are a great keeper of the gates…..Livestock loves clean bedding….You guys do a great job keeping the clean and comfy…..❤❤
Brian, you may not be a rocket scientist but you can easily give the younger generation a run for their money in the "common sense" category. Then there is your work ethic--outstanding and again not a common feature to see these days out there. Cole is learning from the best and is picking it up pretty fast, so I applaud both of you. You are appreciated!!!
Good to see Ellie supervising tire repair even though she was so wrongly accused of nail planting!! ❤
👍👍👍 Another great video. Being a Texas boy, I can't imagine working in SD winters. SD sure is beautiful driving through there in May on our yearly fishing trip to Canada.
Thanks!
thanks!
Brian your comments about gate control reminded me about my grandfather at church one Sunday talking to an old farmer about me I was about 8 or 9 at the time and he stated well you now have someone to help you when you're hooking up to equipment but just remember it won't be long until you will be the one who will be dropping in the pins it seems as though it was only a few years till that happened it was only about 70 years ago
First of all people have no idea how hard it is to work in those conditions you’re around and as far as I’m concerned, you are too smart guys
When you picked up that frozen mouse by the tail... 🤣🤣🤣.
oohh Brian i really love those annecdotes and stories you tell us many many thanks from Denmark
Little Forest...
He so Smart!
Jenny
Gatekeeping is very important! Especially with horses! That crow noise is spot on! Lolol
Well I have watched your videos for years and am amazed at all of the skills you need to farm.. you all are multitalented and smart. Thank you for another great video. Awaiting the calf white board!
❤ from Norway
I see that my bull, number 163, was first in the chute. Of course he was. He'll fit right in here. Can't wait to pick him up and meet you both!
Stay warm guys❤❤❤
Cole, hopefully you get to use the EZ Milker. Looking forward to it! Love from Ontario, Canada.🇨🇦. I found you through Sandi Brock.
Almost time for calf madness I miss Monday videos I've been watching reruns on Mondays Hopefully calves will arrive healthy with no birthing problems
I guess you could take the wagon loads of mostly snow and put them in the high spots in the pasture . That should help get the moisture deeper into the ground for the spring .
Whatever little snow we got this winter is completely gone now. Se Saskatchewan Canada. Been well above freezing temps and suppose to stay mild for few more days yet.
Hey Brian Like one old farmer said Takes one hell of a good man to beat me doesn't take long but it takes a good one lol
You are an AMAZING Young Man Cole & Always keeping busy working in the coldest of day's ...
I'm sure Your Dad & Mom are VERY PROUD of You.💙🤗✝️
You two make me laugh🐦⬛ 😅😂😅😂👍😁🤣
Hugs & Blessings to you ALL 🤗🙏❤️💙💖💙🐕...💙🤗✝️
Awesome video Cole. It's kool to see that you and Brian looking after the cattle the way you do.
There's not many that care that much about their cattle.
🚜🚜🚜
my dogs are the same in the snow - frosty paws!!
Great video. Beautiful cattles. Loved the Brian gate session and chat. :). God Bless.
awsome video cole one nice cold start on the tracter love it thumbs up and shared
And a mighty fine job you did cleaning the snow and poop!
I just wanted to type "poop" LOL
I haven't felt temps that low since I was a 4th grader, back in the 50's!---It's such fun watching that bale shredder, as long as it doesn't get blown toward me!---I couldn't help wondering if that mouse was running to, or from something.
I've noticed that clock in your shop has been stuck on 6:23 for a very long time 😆😆😆😆
But it's correct twice a day....
I wonder if it's a farmer's superstition. I seem to remember there's a stopped wall clock at the Larsons' farm too.
@@SirWhiteRabbit-gr5so Yep your absolutely right about that. 😀
I like all the comment from the old timers bad thing is that my own kids call me old man anyways thanks for the video and have a good day greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer
Cole and Brian on them old tractors 30, 40, 50 series when cranking them over in the cold turn the steering wheel back and forth they'll Crank over faster and take less battery to get them started. It's something something a john deere mechanic/shop Forman told me. It always seemed to work for us. Keep up the good work and great content!
thats right! i forgot
Lol, the gate guy,
A boot warmer has to be a top 5 investment. I can't believe I went years without one.
Love “Pa’s” Camera Commentary!!😊
BRIAN! Cole is playing and being hard on the equipment. I seent it with my own eye. He was sliding the scraper around on the ground he was going so fast.
Good video Cole and Brian yal stay warm & safe my friend !
You were doing your crow imitaton and my new puppies started barking and looking for them. LOL
Haha I must be good
Enjoy the video.👍❤️🇨🇦
1/31/24 - Great Video - Stay warm.
I loved snow skiing but hated shoveling snow. I did not mind the temps in Ohio until it got down to about zero. I hated mud season too. You can have your weather, I live on the beach in the Philippines now. I love your videos.
thats sounds like a good place to be
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌞 Farms!!!
👍 Thanks and GOD BLESS 😀
Glad yall got everything cleaned up.
Hey gate guy, you did a fine job, that's what us old farmers do best, man the gates. 😁Lots of good stuff your doing there, that bedding is sweet. Have a great evening!
Brian! I'm never gonna stop recommending a Song Of The Day! Im 64, feel like werethe same age! Lol Can You get on board with? Tracy Chapman-Give Me One Good Reason? Look forward to your future videos 😂❤😂 ❤😂❤
Good job!
we had some cold weather here to -55 c bollom out we had a couple of tractors that would not start so we did not try to start them up we put a heater at the battler first warmed it up and put a charge on the batter after that we started the tractors like it was summer no nose candy for the green paint lol i was amazed them both stared up to think it was the warm batters and good charge that help the start-up yes we did have it plus in too we had a block warmer in the fuel tank to fuel war not like jello to we did leave the run before we moved the too
As a kid I would be the gate meiser. I hated that job simply because I knew there would be hell to pay from my dad if/when a cow got out. We were out in west Texas so if one got out we'd have to chase them through the oaks, and that was an all day affair. I used the run/jump scare tactic to keep them away. Probably could've benefitted from a slappy.
Wow that’s cold ..I’m in Australia in the Riverina area and it’s going to be 104 tomorrow 😅
It hurts me to be sitting here with temps in the mid 70's watching you guys work in the cold. Stay warm
Hahahaha, even when frozen and Justin but...great sense of humor. Love you guys
Hi guys from a stormy wet uk how many cattle have you at the moment, do you have any plans to build a shed to house them or is it just not cost effective, just interested cos over here 99% of cattle are housed in winter but our winters are really really wet and we don't get much snow or ice if it gets -5c not F it's a major thing whole country comes to a halt uk is a joke ,not like you guys over there love you videos guys
Great Video. Thank You.
Love to hear Brian talk about why something is done. Who knew he didn’t want to mix the heifers.
Thats a lotta housekeeping. Great job boys!!
